I was searching this video for months. Once I saw a women doing hexis but I couldn't understand the step by step. Thank you so much!!!! 💕 I can wait to start!!!! (I am in my job and I want to go home)
Thank you so much for this. I used glue on the first hexies I made, but thought it gross and unsatisfying. I've switched to thread basting on my cuurent no-hexie epp project, but I'm looking forward to trying your exact method on my next hexies. In fact, I'm going to do a few hexies right now just to embed this in my brain. Thanks again!
I saw an adorable hexie quilt and have been intrigued ever since but it seems like it would take so long to put an entire quilt together that way! I still might have to try it sometime if the right fabric combination comes along. 😁
Super tutorial! You explained the steps thoroughly and provided “the madness to your method”. Thank you so much, I have not tried English Paper Piecing but I am definitely motivated to give it a try now. 💜
Tip: draw round your template for as many pieces you wish to cut out, then you can cut them out all in one go (adding seam allowance) and it speeds up the process as no need for pinning. Lovely to see hand basting, it's just as quick as glue, looks after the corners, and allows for quick paper template removal after. If you have the pieces flat-edged together rather than the whole piece front to front, then whip stitch flat you will never get a joining stitch showing on the front and it makes joining sections to larger projects very easy.
@magicalumbrella7151 That is a great tip for multiple layers of fabric. I went to glue from stitching. Now I'm back to stitching because I don't find that glue keeps the corners down.
I use a wonder chip to hold the fabric as I stitch around the hexie paper while moving the clip.. Pins tend to bow the paper, and skews the hexie on me.
Left hander checking in with what I figured out from my hexie fun: in this video she appears to go counter-clockwise so I reversed that and went clock-wise and had success or what I am considering success for my first try. I also had less stabbing from the pin(s) when I pinned from the top of the fabric while worked on the back. YMMV.
I begun EPP some 6 months ago? And I prepared 7 hexies needed for my flower. But I saw some ladies, like the ones in your plastic box, who have a lot of hexies basted. Do you prepare all your hexies and when you decides that you want to sew a flower, you choose in your box the hexies needed?? What is the advantage?? Thanks for your answer.
Hexies are so fun to have on hand. I love making up a bunch in a collection and put them on bags, pillows, table toppers. Such fun readymade pieces to have on hand. Just addicting to make honestly 😆
Here is a link to a box like the one I use. Such a great way to store those little pieces! www.amazon.com/ideas/amzn1.account.AEMWTV42X4ARUDLHIVRHHHBWLG4Q/6BT5YCZ6PQE0

Love the tutorial! Looking forward to doing hexies! Thanks for sharing. :-)
Thank You for the great tips.
You are so welcome!
If you use a hole punch on the paper hexi, you can pin inside the hole to hold your fabric to the paper. Makes it easy to remove the paper also.
I've been afraid to try hexies. My hand sewing needs work. But I think I'll be trying them with your new pillow kit soon! Thanks for the tutorial!
