Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.
Jason did an admirable job filling in for his Father, given that he was on stage with 3 of the greatest musicians to ever walk the face of the earth. For the uneducated, it is hard to explain the greatness of Zep. When Bonzo was alive, they were the undisputed kings of Rock. Each a great musician in their own right, but put the four together and the best music ever made came alive. So glad I got to be here for the whole ride!
For sure. Some big shoes to fill there. I'm just amazed at his confidence in himself. Long live John Henry Bonham.
Once while recording, I can't remember what album, they were recording in an old castle each member were recording in separate rooms, Bonzo wanted to hear what the drums would sound like,he was in one of the other rooms when other members showed look at him and said who's that playing your drums,it was Jason and he was young kid.
As Bach was to Baroque and Mozart was to Classical, Led Zeppelin was to Rock.
@bubbahenson-t3i Headley Grange. Gave a very unique quality to the recordings. Queen did the same but in a farm house.
Spot on
The more I listen to zeppelin the more I realize their genius and greatness.
Ive been saying that to myself for the past 40 years. 🙌🧙🏻♂️

John Paul Jones the secret weapon Led Zep had that ties it all together. In full flight in this song
not much of a secret - he was so awesome - he and Bonham together were such an important part of their sound
It seems like he gets very little credit, I guess he does not have the sexy place like vocals or guitar.

one of the best bass lines ever recorded
I find his level of fluidity on the "Ramble On" riff, impossible to duplicate. Now I am not near as talented, I still am amazed at his abilities. An under rated piece of the Led Zep talent ring.
Such a great introductory layer to start the song. Just incredible. Might be my favourite intro to a song in rock history.

Good to see JPJ get some camera time. Truly an underestimated musician, and a driving force in the musical arrangements of LZ. A bass player who can "play" with Page on equal footing.

I had never focused on his bassline until watching this video. Amazing. How many rock bassists would even try this, much less compose and play it to perfection.
Few of the comments here pay homage to Jason Bonham.
How hard and how beautiful must it be for him, to immortalise his father's legacy?
Anyone whose father has been revered, deserves respect for even *trying* to walk a mile in those shoes ... Jason not only does it - but does it brilliantly, almost seamlessly ...
Oh YEAH.. Bonham Sr. MUST be lookin down & thinkin "That's My Son Folks".. Like Father like Son..
Got to see Jason twice just in the past few years, up in the PacNW. First w Heart, then as a guest, surprise apparence w Peter Frampton, Frampton’s 2nd to last show on his farewell tour. Blessed. 🙏🏼

So very nice to see JPJ featured. He's brought so much richness to the Zeppelin sound since day one.

Led Zeppelin are the Greatest Rock Band of All Time, and Jimmy Page proves here that he is the coolest guitar player ever. He is totally bad ass with his long gray hair, shades, and suave clothes to compliment that '58 Les Paul.

This was the track that first introduced me to the idea that a guitar could play rhythm while the bass played the main melody. For me the bass is always the star of this track, partly due to that first listening experience and partly due to the amazing expressive skill of the man playing that bass.
This song is such a great example of the “light and shade” that Page spoke of in their music. From frantic jamming, to quiet reflection, back to frantic again. So beautiful. I’m glad they recorded this so well.
