@isaakad its cringe to sit there for an hour+ autistically braking down how accurate a 1960's holywood b film is.
The channel went down hill when the older guy in the original vids stopped being involved
Glad to see that valgear is ok
Valgear finding a grenade never seen before:
"this will make a fine addiction to my collection"
War makes for strange hobbies!
Pentrite is my favourite high explosive, highly brisant, high energy, cheap to produce, nontoxic, environmentaly friendly, a bit senistive but can be phlegmatized to below hexogen sensitivity. Thank you and stay safe ;)
Ed.: The DM82 is also the best time fuze for hand grenades, very reliable even in old specimens and extreme temperatures, also the safest one on the market, the Swiss and British also use it in their grenades.
Ah it's PETN. Thank you, I couldn't hear the word and neither could closed caption
and much like nitroglycerin it can be an effective vasodilator.
Not on the market anymore in Canada, but it came as tablets 10, 20 & 80mg.
Peri-Trate was the name I think, first came out in the 60s and was pulled off the market in the early `00s
ISDN, another nitrate which superseded PETN. if its pure, at least on paper, will also deflagrate if intiated.
its both mate chemistry name is Pentaerythritol tetranitrate or also names under petn, pent, pentyl, penta, in Russian ПЕНТА, primarily in German, as nitropenta, pentyl so he is correct you both are i remove landmine by the way @@MaaveMaave
@fritzhaber3994 But not friendly to human bodys😂🥴👍👍.
Mine tooooooooo BANG
Always interesting to see in these grenade tests just how random shrapnel really is. If the ground is a bit soft or if there happens to be a rock in the way you can get away with being almost right next to a grenade and just suffer from the blast concussion, and then sometimes someone 50m away catches a nasty bit of shrapnel in the neck. Such is life.
It's spooky to think about tbh. Grenades have always freaked me out.
Yep depends on surface and obstacles and also „ random“ positioning fate or luck call it as you want
"THIS WAS VERY NICE BOOM" Glad you're safe Val!
OMG! Usage demonstration of the pull ring not on the blue one, but a life DM51... what a time to live in!

The blue exercise version is designated DM58.
Way way back when I was a young soldier, we used the M36 grenade, they came in separate parts, before going out, you “assembled” your grenades. It was etiquette to assemble your own grenades and to do so in the middle of an open area with non-one else around (in case of mistakes). You had to select the fuse deals you were going to load, insert the fuse and connect it to the “works” and screw it all together. Later we moved on to the M26 grenade, they came from the factory already assembled, sometimes they had an “instantaneous” fuse and the moment the spoon sprung off the grenade it blew. It killed and injured a few, one of our blokes lost most of his hand. Later we got “mini” grenades, useless rubbish. My preference was the larger “can” type WP grenades, they really scared the opposition.
I served in the bundeswehr and really liked the dm51 great to throw and nice to store. we never used the shrapnell when doing cqb only he wich worked great to clear out rooms
What would you guys do with the extra shrapnel jackets?
@@metalfusion1319 Use as penholders I guess 😅
@@metalfusion1319 Tape them to the grenades you want to use with shrapnel :) DIY Satchel charge.
@@metalfusion1319 pen holder as mentioned in the video ;) but no mostly we had them refitted with the he filler so it could be dual use again
We used the DM-51mostly with the Shrapnell jackets. The Video sound doesn't really show the massive bang and fierceness of this grenade. The shrapnells of course come with a much greater velocity than a rifle bullett. If i remember correctly, it's like approx. 6000m/sec ( a rifle bullett 800 -900m/sec range.) Great to see you are safe valgear just wanted to say I appreciate your videos explaining about weapons used in Ukraine thank you.

Glad to see you still around. Thank you for the video. I hope you stay safe. Best of luck to you.
I love your videos so much. You've got a great way of presenting information - detail peppered with anecdotes.
That was a pretty good throw as any, just about in the middle. Great video and thanks Val.
Greetings from Germany!
My predecessor actually left me the body of the grenade and I can tell that it makes for an excellent pencil holder.
The body also makes for a great substitute if you want to improve your throwing skills. You just need to fill it with a bag of sand and tape the bag.
I hope the Brits will send you some nice Storm Shadows soon and if a couple Taurus did find they’r way to Ukraine I would be all for that.
Storm Shadows are too heavy to throw.
@@JanFWeh With that attitude they are, yes.

Krásný český přízvuk. Thank you for your service.
Ale Valgear je Ukrajinec, v Česku pouze studoval. V jednom z videí to říkal.
@@MarekVacek Však já netvrdím opak. Konstatoval jsem přítomnost Českého přízvuku. Toď vše.
Naar no way that's not the accent, behaviour or mannerisms of any Ukrainian person alive.. no matter where they studied. . that's a Czech person, czech personality, Czech attitude, Czech jokes, Czech pronunciation on both English and Russian words. This man is not a Ukrainian or Russian... Sure he's not going to tell his full life story .. J mean he's hiding his face in the videos it's very unlikely what he tells is true.. that would be foolish of him.. @@MarekVacek

Great design. I never thought the hand grenade could be improved on but here it is.

This man taking the time to flip the camera with a live grenade in his hand is the quality i want in my content
The silent fuze is what is most impressive. I can see multiple use cases for that.
Great video as always
Hope you’re okay, been a couple weeks.
Hi Valgear! On the off-chance that you see this. I was using your Q&A video as evidence for industry opinion regarding a humanitarian drone that I have been developing. If you still have a save of that video on your computer, I would be very grateful if I could get in contact about it. What you said about the Kakhovka dam was invaluable for the direction that I then took in the design process. Thank you for your service and for helping me, many thanks if you can find the video also.
Great video. Thanks and Godspeed.
I don’t know, ww2 grenades were way deadlier. My grandfather who did the pacific campaign in ww2 in the Americal division said in the evening you dug your self a foxhole then picked all the shrapnel out of your face arms and back, I asked why you didn’t go back to the aid station to do that? He said the worst feeling you ever had in a combat experience is being alone and I wasn’t walking back alone in the evening through the lines to possibly get shot by some dope. He never got a Purple Heart because his wounds were never officially registered and logged even by combat line medics. I remember in the 80’s I was sitting on his back and I found a bump on his back and my grandmother said let me see, he told her to stop picking at it because it was just shrapnel and it would work it’s way out😂😂😂😂 and eventually it did. This was 35 years after the war.
Szczęścia i zdrowia!
Hey i started following your channel for the firearm reviews, I hope you get the chance to do more comparative reviews. This real world knowledge is very useful in determining the pros/cons of each rifle platform
Glad to see you are safe and well, Val. Also, very nice demonstration of the DM 51. The Germans always seems to have a nice and presentable case for their weapons. Thanks Val!

Man, all the secret squirrel stuff has really kept recruitment down. It's cool they're finally opening up the lab doors. Subbed!
That explosion seems significantly less powerful than an m67 grenade (and yes I’ve used them before)
Love your videos, love your czech accent :D dis was very najs bum. You make Snejdarek proud. Nazdar.
Awesome Video!
Interesting how a soft ground can improve survability
Valgear it’s good to see you’re okay. I was thinking about you the other day, when I first saw the grenade it just reminded me of a child’s toy. I don’t know why I think maybe because it looks so plastic.
The last time I threw a grenade was about 28 years ago. I still remember it been good fun .
You take care of yourself and will see you again
In the US, we sometimes get the empty plastic grenade cases on the surplus market, and I always wondered how the grenades fit in there. Nice video.
Probably one of my favorite grenade made to this day I was hoping you were doing a video on this thank you it has such a great fragmentation spread I think it's the future of grenades they should all be made with extra fragmentation sleeves you can probably do that with a lot of grenades by 3D printing
Aww yuss new Valgear dropped!
When he pulled the pin it sounded like the Lego block break sound lol😂
Hope valgear is doing good
I hope he is safe.
Very nice boom, great success!
God I hate war. I love weapons and their functions, it’s really a testimony to how advanced of a civilization we are but unfortunately we’re not mature enough to realize that we should love one another and that all wars are pointless
War isn't good but it's incredibly naive to think of it as anything but a necessary evil
@@poopoo7705 I understand that we won’t ever have fully established peace and to wish for no war is not naive it’s just human. To want war is human and to not want war is human
yeah war sucks but it'll never go away, even if there was only one country and one culture there would still be war.
even chimpanzees have wars you know, each troop has established territories and a monkey from another group comes into anothers territory they either kill him or intentionally keep him alive but deform him.
There will always be competition and conflict and the desire to defend something and to sacrifice life for that defense if need be. To be so equal to others that competition and conflict are not ever needed sounds horrifyingly boring.
Good to see you
Take care and keep the vids coming .
OH YEHA BABY another video I didn’t expect! Thought you would take a break?
Awesome to see some German quality! I know some people who work there and well are proud u put em to good use
I always expexcted more of a explosion from grenades but i understand that it is made for the shrapnel to hurt you not really the explosion itself .... Very cool video 👍
The DM-51 sounds much more impressive and fierce in real life - and come to think of it, recording circuits nowadays have sound compression and Limiters integrated. This is a massive and fierce blast with this grenade believe me. Also keep in mind, that the shrapnels blast off with a velocity of approx. 6000m/sec, much faster than a rifle bullet. ( former Bundeswehr army instructor/sergeant here)
Stay safe Valgear!
Thanks for the inside.

Interesting grenade design…I have never seen that before.
That's actually a pretty sweet pen holder 😅

your back my brother, nice too see you again hope is all well and swell with you and your homeland and buddy's. I'm still working on my kit to go to Ukraine to help as a volunteer. reasons for working on my kit as I don't want the Ukrainians to have to kit me out when they can kit someone out that maybe more less fortunate than me in the money department, I don't want to take from them as I want to give all I can.
Love how the grenades come in a plastic case, it's actually kind of stylish.
Much love from Germany
Horrido Joho!
Keep fighting the good fight, Valgear.
Ensure that the DM51 with the blood stains on it is delivered nicely to the enemy with the spoon removed.
If you have the time and the DM51 is deployed in the way mentioned above, an after-battle damage assessment would be appreciated.
So freaking surreal that I am working from home in Queensland Australia, watching an operator in Ukraine walk me through the 'manual of arms' on a German hand grenade that I will probably never ever get to see in person, hold or use, let alone use in an active theatre of war in offensive or defensive mode.
Much respect to you, Valgear; stay safe!
