When I was 6 years old, I went through the 1994 Northridge earthquake. I can remember being woken up by my bed rocking back and forth, and the power went out. I remember my parents telling me I had to get dressed and leave the building, and I didn't understand why at the time. But as we went outside to the car, I remember thinking the sky went from nighttime to daylight, back and forth, for what seemed like 5 seconds at a time. When you're 6 years old, obviously you have these crazy thoughts about anything.
Years later, I'm happy to know that this is a real phenomenon. And it is truly scary and fascinating at once.

Growing up on Southern California, I experienced a few large quakes, and I always remember the earthquake lights on the horizon from towards the shaking source direction. Also, before the quakes, even smaller ones in the 4 to 5 magnitude range are often preceded by sonic booms. Not like plane booms, it's unique and you always know when you hear and feel one, get ready for the ride

I grew up in Ojai, Ventura County. Maybe I had a good view because of less light pollution, or maybe the stress followed the faults. Ojai Valley is pretty much all faults. Idk

always amazing how little we actually know. never had to live thru an earthquake, but did witness a massive lightening strike, hitting a power line and blowing it up. was pretty impressive to witness....... makes earth seem alive

In my hometown (south east mexico) in chiapas we had lights as well during this earthquake, and my first reaction was to think that they were coused by the power lines, but my town its not really that developed and we're surrounded by mountains. I quickly noticed that they werent "man made"
I genuignly got super scared, and thought we where under alien attack or something lol.
I swore I saw it!! I was like ughhhh, what the heck was that?! There’s NO lightnings or storms, that night. I saw it from Saint Petersburg, Florida, just before dusk/darkness.

I grew up in Southern California in the 80s and 90s when we had earthquakes large enough to get under something for more frequently than the present moment. I had a room on the second story of my mom's house and I used to see these blue flashes coming out of the ground so often that I'd look out my bedroom window for hours until I actually felt sleepy when my parents made me "go to bed" because those flashes would happen so often. During the significant earthquakes, I was obviously under my bed and not looking out the window but the blue light that I would see was so distinct that I do remember seeing that same color of light come flashing in through my window during those earthquakes too. The thing is that I'd see these lights when there wasn't an perceivable ground motion and, more importantly, I had a clear view from my window directly to the ground where the San Andreas Fault passes through here. At that time, I didn't know that's where the fault was but what I do know for sure is that I would watch those blue flashes come directly out of the ground where there was nothing but National Forest. I'm sure some of the lights are due to transformers and stuff like that but I'm absolutely sure that it doesn't explain all of them.
Something I have thought about what might be causing these lights has to do with a paper I read about how more significant earthquakes are correlated to the Earth being hit by a coronal mass ejection. Here in California, I've only seen blue flashes and a couple green flashes but, what I've noticed from watching videos other people have captured of potentially the same sorts of lights, they seem to have the same colors as the aurora does. That makes me curious as to whether these lights coming out of the ground are also electromagnetic in nature. Unfortunately, as with everything else I am deeply curious about, I have no means by which to test my hypotheses but I offer them up here in hopes that someone else with such means can test this train of thought.
It is transformer explosions. Nothing more. Been outside for several majors here and seen it in person. Human minds like to speculate about these things and bend what it is into something more supernatural or scientifically unexplainable rather than sticking to what it really is.

I grew up in Southern California and I could hear earthquakes before they came..but only like a about 1 min to 30 seconds...because my ears would pop similar to how they do when your on a plane...my family thought I was crazy but I would stand up and say an earthquake is coming...earth quakes feel like waves but your on soild ground... Would also tell them when it would be over because I could hear the after shocks too

It does not require any guessing. There are electrical sensors used in earthquake detections systems in service over large areas of California for several years. Easy, any spark generates radio wave spikes even small ones. They start to ramp up and you have got a soon to be big problem.
I used to see those lights coming right out of the San Andreas Fault from my bedroom window when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s. As an adult, I hiked to the top of the frontal ridge here and can confirm that there is beautiful rose quartz jutting right out of the ground as one approaches the top of the ridge.

Crystals rubbing together make light which will shine up through the dirt and rock. I have done this myself with my crystals. There would be good deposits of crystals in that region of the lights. It’s awesome isn’t it. Often people will see lights in the forests and this could also be crystals under pressure.

Mexico has a proper earthquake warning system. The US doesn't. That says a lot.

Its March 22, 2023 today around 10:20PM Indian standard time, these lights are reported to be seen in capital city of India, New Delhi. Its possible that everybody was busy ensuring safety of their loved ones in these moments of geological adversity that's why not a lot of people saw it.

How are these different from lightnings? The kind found in Revelation 8:5. Wherein it is written, "...And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth, and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake."
Really, how do people read a book which is static in nature, somehow throw Queen Elizabeth and others into it, and add sci-fi elements to it? GET A GRIP! Most of those flashes were from powerlines swaying into eachother, transforners blowing up, and likely a piezo electric effect from rocks and crystals under enormous stress, high enough that the human mind can't really comprehend.

these lights are seen in many earthquakes whereas that specific line of scripture is talking a very hyper specific single earthquake.
right before ww1 or ww2 there was a solar storm that hit earth causing world wide auroras, thunder, and lighting alongside a big earthquake. then came the bloody war.

I thought about that too. That's another question we likely wont know until we have a good way to predict earthquake start points to have instruments in place to measure the flashes. All recorded footage seems like the light could be 10s to hundreds of miles away, based on the epicenter of the quake to the recording. But to produce a blue flash that big... Must have a lot of energy.
Yeah theres a lot of things to discover, here in peru the biggest earthquakes often have the epicenter on the sea, so being very close to them is not possible, maybe with instruments in the future, but we would have to know the exact location of the epicenter

If it's not power lines, I think it's more likely triboluminescence or triboelectricity, which is more to do with rubbing together / pulling apart. I normally think of piezoelectric effect as applying pressure to a small point.

Just an idea, but maybe that is why some animals seem to sense a quake seconds before it happens. If there is an unknown reason that causes
quake-light then there may also be things happening not within the spectrum our human senses, i.e. sounds, vibrations or even smells. Who knows...that is just my 2 cents; keep the change.
I haven't seen anything during the 2019 Ridgecrest, CA quake, but I surely felt it.

If you put a rock in a slingshot and ahoot it at the street it will spark, put one in a vice it will spark, hit one with a hammer and so on. Breaking rocks cause sparks, big rocks lightening bolts.
When crystals are rubbed together it gives off a high voltage discharge, its got to be the same when an earthquake happens.

usually, if stories are passed down to TV series and movies. there is some truth to it. its not one witness or 1 person who experience it, it's why it is shown in the public and passed down for yearssss. It is similar to polar light. But polar light is cause external by the sun, and earthquake lights are caused internal by the earth. Its a disturbance of the magnetic field. As parts of the earth change position, part of the magnetic field will do the same. Like you moven a magnet under the desk and the other one on top of the desk will follow it.

According to my advanced knowledge, cause i am coming from 2044, the lights are caused by the light rocks inside our hollow earth. As the ground cracks, light from light rocks that lighten the hollow earth, escapes from the openings the earthquake creates in the ground so we see the light in the sky.

The Pizo Electrical discharge of crystal structures has been known for 100+ years. Granite is a quartz structure. There are Pizo electric sensors in California. The effect occurs before the stressed crystal brakes. You have minutes to an hour or so to react.

@@LiterallyGod All electric arcing is blue and green no matter the source. The arcing would occur before the quake. There are electric arc light seen where no power line in the area. There is arc detectors (lightning detectors) in most geo-phyiscal instrumentation packages.

Couldn't POSSIBLY be power lines snapping and electrical arcs...
The light show might be added energy of the flares and earth pressure of a sphere , although seeming like it is sitting on a single return pressure point, it's not exactly..the varied return application keeping a collapse from going on ...is off some but because water and ground isn't entirely equal. Let's see the air as two pressure points and the measure rays as some added energy ..

The big flashes, are natural & not man-made - were we able to harvest this energy, it would go some way toward solving the current energy "shortages" being generated - for profit.

Saw this after looking at storms. The flashes are caused by electrical lines shorting out due to the power lines swinging. Power flashes are also common when a tornado destroys the electrical equipment
lights appearing during an earthquake were reported to happen way before electricity was used, look it up, also according to some article I've read, it is a natural phenomenon that isn't fully understood
That would make sense, but some flashes are yellow, orange, or even red, and shorting from a powerline would produce blue light not red.
