WOW I can't believe this did it. I re-seated the ribbon cable 50 times before I tried this... The first laptop I've EVER worked on that needed a freakin' driver for basic touchpad functionality... Thanks dude. Saved me ordering a cable off AliBaba and now I can sell it for $200. PCE

I was about to call you out on this, it can't be as simple as reinstalling a serial driver, but it worked...lmfao. My next question is "what happened to cause the driver issue in the first place"? I've been a computer professional for more than 40 years and I hate it when there is a simple fix as it means that somebody screwed up. Thanks for finding the fix.

It works for about 10 minutes and then stops responding. The only way to get it back is to reinstall the io driver and again it works for 10 minutes :(
