Walk Through Mainz Christmas Markt, 2021

The Christmas Market in Mainz is a delight, spread out over most of the downtown area, with wine vats to sit in with your friends or family, and a wide variety of gift items and delectable tasty treats to eat. Of course, the wine used in the Glühwein is all from the Rheingau.
Their 2G concept is well thought out. They have stands at the entrances where you can show your Vaccine or Recovered status plus a photo id and they put a pink band on your wrist. Then you can eat, drink and shop without needing to pull out your wallet again. You do not need this band to walk around in the market though, only for dining, drinking, or shopping. They have security staff in yellow jackets walking around with these same pink bands, for those who decide later on to shop or eat. It seemed to make it all a lot easier.
Mainz is easy to get to from Frankfurt, with frequent, direct trains. The market is about a 10 min. walk from the Hauptbahnhof or from the Mainz Römisches Theatre.

I am an Army brat whose Mom is from Mainz. It's a terrific city with a ton of history (Gutenberg, Roman settlements, Dom, etc.). I agree with you, the Xmas market is really well done. The wine cabanas are a nice nod to the wine growers in the Mainz area. I didn't see the pyramid with the Mainzelmaennchen. That's also a nice tribute to the little guys from the ZDF TV channel which is based in Mainz. A walk along the Rhine at anytime of year is also really nice. Nice super easy day trip from Frankfurt. Thanks again for these videos. It's much appreciated.
