Hi Abby, kudos to You. Lost my right arm (below the elbow) a few years ago, in an electrical accident. I'd wake in the middle of the night in tears, thinking I'd never play again. I'd wander down to the living room, stare at my guitar and hug it. Finally, I was able to get a prosthetic made (call it my "hardware" lol), and I've started playing again. I often shed tears of joy when I pick my Lady up, and play. It's taking a while to relearn, my left arm was damaged also. However, nothing is more powerful than Love and perseverance. As well as being inspiration, You've given me ideas in modifying my hardware. You Rock Abby, sending You Love and a big hug. Happy New Year Sweetness, J*
You're really awesome Abby! Thank you for being such as inspiration. That was really good! You mentioned that you're better at drums.....you're a good drummer as well! I really enjoy your channel. You're showing that there is no such thing as "can't do"......only "CAN do!"
I am inspired by your determination to express your artistic yearnings, despite what many would consider a physical roadblock. I am a comics artist and a musician, and I often tell inquisitive folks that I don't create because I want to... I do it because I HAVE to! I feel you, my friend. Keep on letting that soul shine!
One of the most amazing human beings on Earth! No doubt! I'm a gamer and a guitarist myself and I'm really impressed with what you've achieved! Simply put you are awesome! Keep up the good work. Subbed and waiting for more content :)
Hey, I just began to learn playing guitar too. Struggling to create a good pick (Prototype 21 currently working ish ^^) Once again, I'm really happy to see someone "like me". It's really nice to see the things that are in common in our way to just apprehend things :) Nice video :)
Dear Abby, I found this video and you overwhelmed me with a lot of emotions. Not sure I will ever play guitar, but you at least demonstrated that it's possible. Thank you for the inspiration and best regards from Slovakia!
As a guitarist and gamer who has always said if I lost an arm I'd lose who I am, you are the exact person I would want in my life. Your channel deserves to be huge. Subbed for life. You are awesome as hell.
Speechless.!! That's it!! This world needs more people like you. I can't play good guitar with both my hand but look at you. You are an inspiration!❤❤❤ Lots of love!!
I stumbled on some "Big Toe' videos several years ago - very talented, no arms, plays with his feet. I like your solution - functional and convenient. I like a small body to. I've got both arms, but a bad shoulder - makes it hard to reach out and chord on a full size - I play a 1/4 size, 30 inch, travel guitar so my bad arm can hang straight down and still fret on the shorter neck. I 1st downsized to a "First Act' kids guitar I found at a thrift shop for $5 (you can still get them new for around $40 - good entry point for someone that wants to see if they like playing [*] I've moved up to a Kala (Ukulele company that made a guitar $350.00) - which I like pretty well - it's about 32 inches and has a fret width more similar to a full size. [*] a few hours ago (11/11/22) I bought a 1/4 size acoustic electric for around $60 on Amazon - may be junk, but I'm wagering I can get $60 bucks worth of music out of it. - something for camping trips that I don't have to worry about so much.
I hope from this video, it can motivate everyone. That limitation does not prevent a person from being creative in life. And do not give up easily. Thanks for this video, to motivate me.
Hey there. You are such an inspiration. My biggest fear in life is losing a finger or a hand, and watching your videos has helped me to see that if that ever happened, I'd be just fine. I am a 3D printer starting a business and it's my hope to, among other things, help people. If you need anything- at all- 3D printed that could help your life, just let me know. Maybe an attachment(?) that could help you play guitar better? Not to belittle your ingenious duct tape method! Anyway, thanks for the videos. Please upload a video of you playing something. And DFTBA.
Thanks. I'm teaching an intro guitar class next week (online) to about 60 women and many are wondering how to hold a pick. I'll show some of this video they'll get the idea... figure out what works best for you and make it work.
Abby, just found your channel. You are amazing. I just saw your new arm. I hope you can learn to hold a pick with it. You don't have to be a professional guitarist. You just have to be able to entertain yourself. Learn at your own pace, and be happy with that. I hope someday "replacement arms / hands" will have fingers that will allow guitarists to "finger pick". You are amazing.
This is amazing I have one hand ,my right and I have always wished I could play a Guitar when I was younger , Im 74 now but very young at heart , love music ( Fleetwood Mac , Eagles etc ) . My name Gary Gill , I did sing in a Band many years ago and even if I say myself I was not to bad lol.
Holy crap I'm gonna have to give that a try. Right now I just use the two of my little digits to strum. If I haven't played in a while which I haven't is hurts like hell for a while.
Ab, your channel is such an inspiration. I have suffered with mild cerebral palsy on my left hand since birth, played piano since age seven, drums since 11 and guitar since 18. I was just wondering how do you change strings one handed, that's a skill I've yet to master.
You had me smiling the entire length of your video, a great example of your determination. Good job, well done! Only problem...you didn't sing any part of that Kieth Urban song! Ready when you are!
I did try that at first, but I found that the pick was too stiff and would rake across the strings. Not a good sound! Duck tape ended up being more flexible and kinda mimicking the flexibility of a wrist. :)
ABSHOW A Prosthetic Hand will really rock cause it works like a real hand. Marc Swofford was Tapping Voodoo Child by Jimi Hendrix on his Guitar:ruclips.net/video/Q_b9MnUFeL0/видео.html with one hand while singing it.
Oh my fucking God For the first minute I were like "to strum would she use a prosthetic arm? Play like Cornel Munn?" No, it's tape, and that's complete genius Here's me struggling to play with a broken finger and she's steaming
Sorry for the question, i have both hands but due to medical reasons i have veri poor mobility with one of them, i was thinking about doing the same using cords with the goos hand and the "triangular thing" in the other hand to play the strings, also i wouls like to this with the bass. I have never played those, so i hVe no idea if it could be possibile, whTs your opinion
Sorry for you. I am completely one handed. This playing is „six handed“ guitar play, even if it’s just your end of arm. I‘m looking to play completely one hand with five fingers without any sixth pay I could use. But…. You are doing great 👍 You do best with your abilities, great

I only have one arm too, but i really want to learn to play a guitar. I'm so glad i found your video. Thank you !! :D
Definitely go for it, as a one handed guitarist I know it can be challenging but it’s really rewarding when you get new skills down. Good luck!
same :D i heard you need 3 fingers to do chords, so im glad i found this channel :b
Haven’t been able to use my right hand for months, happy to see this ❤️

It took me over a year to learn ukulele one handeed. I just started attempting guitar recently. Adaptability is key. Keep up the hard work!

Great ma'am
Hey! Love your channel. Have you tried taping a pic to the end of your arm? Or does the tape work better for reach?
I did try that at first, but I found that the pick was too stiff and would rake across the strings. Not a good sound! Duck tape ended up being more flexible and kinda mimicking the flexibility of a wrist. :)

What kind of capo is that. Thanks.
Possibly you have the second most beautiful smile in the world. First place earned Farzana Akhter. The person I love most.
