      @@AnywhereMiami There's progress on all fronts, but there's always this curve where technology is exponentially more expensive and cumbersome the newer it is. Stuff like this that reads from the residual muscles has existed for ages, but it's been slowly getting more affordable and more practical. In research labs, there's progress on crazy stuff like direct control via nerves and even simulating the feeling of pressure on skin by stimulating nerves.
      And yeah - when you have the choice of trying to read signals from an arm with relatively few nerves in it and (depending on how much surgery you want to do) direct access to them, or a big flesh organ which contains ALL of the signals talking over each other, you choose the arm.

    Omg, can you move it with your mind? How do the sensors work? Are they connected to your body muscles so they detect the movement you're trying to do? I read something about what it's called Proportional Myoelectric Control, these devices can receive myoelectric signals from your body nerves and muscles,they use a program to translate them in the movement they think you're trying to do, it looks like a real mind control and it's freaking awesome. The next step in these applications is gonna be to get through that and to look for a nervous system connection that goes from the brain more than the body muscles

    Amazing from a technology perspective and ofc regarding added functionality to someone’s life. However the effort to make it look realistic seems detrimental at this point in time. It kind of gives of an uncanny valley vibe (even though it’s looks should not be the number 1 priority) , and I can imagine giving it a more stylized look might give more effective functionality, as well als being able to be tailored to someone’s personal taste (like with glasses). But still amazing how far this technology has gotten. Thank you for sharing this journey!

    YOU ARE NOT A ROBOT!!! You're a super cute girl with a prosthetic arm. I predict that in another 10-12 years, you will have a NEWER prosthetic arm that neither YOU, nor any observer, will be able to tell that it is a prosthetic device. It will be warm to the touch, you will "feel" things that are in your "hand", and you will be able to do nearly everything that you can do with your left arm and hand. Meanwhile, I can see you brushing your teeth, hair, etc. with this 3D printed arm / hand. Looking forward to your progress!!!

    They should add voice activation and commands for that thumb and and modes .....should be able to say ..mode "green thumb" and goes to mode green and thumb moves and then you control the fingers and sensors as normal .....so that way could combine the two ...."Thumb close" and move fingers and now it fist ....so that way you never have to use your other hand to do things with prosthetic
    Muscle sensors and Voice Command combination would be way to do this with out having needing more sensors and more weight .....

    As someone new to the channel, and a person with a minor deformity (no fingers/different fingers on my right hand and smaller palm) I have to ask you ... I got used to my hand, and this prosthetic just seems like a bother to me. I might not be able to grab or pinch stuff, but with everything else it just seems like it would be more of a bother than help. How is it to you ? But anyway nice video and I enjoy your positive vibe.

    That's cool. I don't know why but prosthetics were always cool to me. I follow another channel and he is making/developing a prosthetic for his hand [he lost all his fingers except his thumb and apparently they don't make good prosthetics (or at least working ones) for that so he's making his own]. I don't have any prosthetics [even though (if the technology was like just get a new 100% working hand) I would love to lose at least my right hand due to a horrible skin thing... skin randomly splits open causing pain and/or bleeding and it was really bad for a while but now I just have one deep cut on the side which is close to being deep enough to bleed. Also it's not just get medicine to fix it since I tried everything and it's just comes and goes but sometimes (not too long ago for a few weeks) my entire hand is throbbing and itching from the open wounds that I try closing with super glue, which doesn't always help].
    Also I haven't made a TikTok due to it being "run" by the Chinese government, I worry enough about the US government overstepping their sloppy rules, I don't want to risk it with an authoritarian communist country that kills people with a history of spying... but that's just my opinion.

    • @graealex
      @graealex 2 года назад

      If you have wounds on your hand, you should seek out medical attention instead of gluing them back together yourself. Especially since glue is really only for minor cuts, or in combination with stitches. Or if you really, really need to do it yourself (why?), then get a staple gun.

      I know you said you tried everything but have you tried aloe vera gel. You can make it by peeling leaves and putting in a blender or buy aloe gel. I seriously burned my hand and it worked really well. I have no scarring and it reduced pain. Just apply liberally 3 to 4 times a day. It's very good for skin. Good luck.

    I think you should start a video series, where you hitchhike with the RoboThumb and do spontaneous interviews with the drivers and passengers, as you surprise them with the arm. The trick to a good interview is getting people to let their guards down to open up. I think you may have a unique way to do that. There are a lot of interesting everyday people and you have a great personality. I’m a former radio/TV guy and I can see this as a real unique TV show.
