I have just watched the first 20 minutes of the show and I must say that this kind of show is way long overdue! Americans need manners and Asian ladies in my opinion are the most elegant and well mannered of all! I really hope this show would catch on like Fab Five, because a make over is not just with appearance, it is manners as well! Sara Jane Ho is soo beautiful and elegant, you are doing the Asian community proud!

French ladies in the South have the best etiquette IMHO. She's beautiful and amazing for sure but if you watch the show, she's teaching how to have British high tea etiquette and French culture and clothing because the Brits & the French have the best manners overall of any culture. Asian ladies are amazing too but most Asian men (in Japan & China at least, less so in US) do not treat women very well and are hence not gentlemen at all. Especially, wealthy Asian men who are known to keep multiple mistresses. European wealthy men sometimes too but it's not as accepted as a culture for upper middle class British & French men to have multiple mistresses but in Asia it's almost a given unless the man is a Christian (Protestant or Catholic) or the MAYBE 10% who were raised by fathers who actually loved & cherished their mothers.

The teacher, Sara, was really respectful towards all her students, and gave them insight on how to be themselves appropriately (in a way socially acceptable. Like I'm happy, ur happy, everyone's happy. Win win situation y'all). U can definitely learn a thing or two from it.

When I saw the title I thought it's gonna be silly and pretentious with too much rules and or manners. But no, this show is actually very entertaining... and it's a bit like therapy in a way. Forgive me for throwing this word around but I dunno how else to describe it. Sara helps people through their fears, and become the best version of themselves...
Seems like such a pleasant person to be with. Sara seems very knowledgeable, like you can comfortably chat with her about any topic and she won't judge you. She will laugh together with you, not at you. Patiently explaing it in detail and guiding you, not judging and I think that's what a lot of people need right now...

I think you can have a unique fashion style that is appropriate but they don’t teach that. Also, most people won’t find themselves needing to know some of this stuff so it would be a waste.

      @BootsandUtes Год назад +9

I disagree. That's not what etiquette is about. It's about culture and respect. You still have independence and individuality in life, but when you interface with others, etiquette comes into play like saying "please" and "thank you," dressing appropriately for a specific occasion, being a gentleman on your date, or following some foreign country's traditions when traveling. Etiquette goes quite a long way in life.

As I see there is not only one way to express courtesy. I don't need to be a Qing Dynasty Princess to show my respect for others. And I won't confuse customs with optional etiquette. Do as the Romans do doesn‘t mean that I need to follow the etiquette of the Italian royal family.
As for whether you agree or not, that’s your choice, just be yourself.

After wacthing 1st episode , it seems like the show is more about looks and superficially prudish nonsense, than manners and etiquette. How to pronounce luxury brands is not important and has no bearing on someones manners because luxury clothes are not important. Also, how someone dresses has nothing to do with there character and how they treat others. It would be way more beneficial to society if the show taught people how to be kind and courteous to one another.

Perhaps modest is the way to go.
    1 Corinthians 10:24
"Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness-with good works."
Sadly, very few women do this.

Sorry, but this show is driving me crazy why are you filming American cities when this is all made in Australia and all these people live in Australia. The host says she lived in America for 10 years, and she has an Australian accent 🙄
What is the point of this show? Is it about manners, or is it about learning the Chinese culture?
The host needs to stop wearing PINK !

Watched episode 1 and wow, seeing make up and hair, that was purely awful. Her original make up was much better and I had no idea why they made something bad to her.

Disagreed. She went from the insecure sexy party girl that only felt pretty with thick false eyelashes and three layers of foundation to sublet natural makeup enchanting her beautiful features, she became feminine, still fun but more confident, refined in manners and ready to look for a serious partner
I cried when I saw her final look and how her parents reacted

Just watched it and had to laugh. They brought in a renowed hair stylist to comb her wig into a ponytail, anyone could have done that.

They were not civil at all! Digging up mummies, having unwrapping parties, grinding mummies down to powder and make cocktails with that. And that’s just a few of the horrors. They are good with stiff etiquettes and rules.
