The attack on Truk atol is iconic. If you watched the documentaries about it even Battle 360(about the USS Enterprise) would tell you how much the airmen were able to fight over the island to neutralize the Japanese shipping. I've heard that subs were there not to attack, but to save American flyers. Still if the battle was an airwarfare, how can the USS battleships be effective there for shore bombardment? I think that if the US sub warfare tactics were more effective in 1942/43, then they could have affected Japanese shipping before and during the battle.

True. In ‘42-43 there were major malfunctions with US torpedoes.

    32:59 - Air recon didn't notice 'cliffs'?!
41:33 - Is this true? If so, where did these guys train? A grammar-school summer camp?
48:10 - The Japanese had no hope at all. Anywhere.

I cringe when I see pics of "Dugout Doug". Had relatives that fought under his "command". They all hated him for their use as cannon fodder. We're lucky he couldn't get him hands on our nukes during Korea. A national disgrace.

MacArthur defeated more enemy, over more distance, with fewer casualties, with the least equipment than any other General.

How dare you tell the truth he cost fewer lives than Any other major general in any theater, he had his distractions when you read what he tried to do in the Phillipines BEFORE THE WAR, and that to this day, the Filipinos are proud of the statue they erected of him after the war, the same thing the South Koreans did.
