    David Fincher usually likes to showcase how crazy and depraved humans can be in his films and I swear..."amazing" Amy did NOT let me down 🤣Glad you all survived this because it's a lot to take in the first time. Hope you watch more Fincher, though! "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo," "Zodiac" and "The Game" are other great films by him (all his movies are pretty good, though).

    9:41 Not true, no wait time is necessary to report people missing. Now how quickly, who will be involved and just how efficient the police will be will depend on a lot of different factors, including the age of the missing person (if it's a child, especially if you suspect kidnapping, it's all systems go!), if the missing person has a history of running away or being gone for long periods of time, if they have a criminal record. So please folks, if you suspect a loved is in danger, report immediately, better the blame be on the police than on yourself!!!

    Letting anyone reading that the whole "you must wait 24 hours to report someone missing" is an urban myth. If someone goes missing report right away. It supposedly originated from people saying it's a good idea just to not waste police time and etc, but not a requirement.

    This movie highlights everything that is wrong with our society, from the quick to judge media, to the predatory lawyers, to the false portrayals and inconsistent application of the law based on the perception of the perpetrator and victim.
    What people don't like about this movie, is it is a reflection of our own biases and prejudices and the predatory practices of our law enforcement and criminal justice system.
    BTW, Gone Girl was from 2014, not 2004.

    The fact that they didn't understand anything behind the meaning of the film or the Amy character, and only get the superficial details, so: she is crazy (even tho he tries to underestimate her at every chance she is in danger by saying "now she encounters the real deal", like she is not the real deal) and he is innocent (when he is absolutely not innocent, not a good husband and not a good person). And the fact that he said in 32:43 "of course they're going to believe a woman" like that's reality... Wow. That was rich.

    At the time this book was written, it was just a wacky story. Recently a documentary came out on Netflix about how the story/book/movie was used to brush off a woman being kidnapped and raped, even though her boyfriend was right next to her when she was taken. The cops all though she was trying to pull some kind of "Gone Girl" thing and ignored the boyfriend when he called the police. I can't watch this movie the same way ever again.

    • @lavinder11

      Cops would have thought that anyway. So many ignore women's complaints on an everyday basis, especially stalkers and rapists.

    • @HuntingViolets
      @HuntingViolets 7 месяцев назад

      That was a concern brought up at the time, because there are all these fictional stories about women being masterminds who fake this type of thing, but it is rare for a woman to falsely report at all, let alone come up with a complex plot. The police shouldn't let something like that influence them. What is the documentary called?
