You should include a campus shuttle at your university. I do not know how beneficial it will be given the game mechanics, but it might look more realistic if nothing else. Just a small bus and line throughout the campus.
8:02 that yellow line using the same side platform, it really needs to be on both sides instead of one side, 9:20 think the tram line goes around the block to the ferry port after the stop by the stadium and the metro line, 19:38, that campus made an separate one
@@brokeafengineerwannabe2071 that's why creators like him relay on us to spot certain things that he have missed, not just biffa, this goes to all creators
So noticed at 28 min... the underground road is just a single lane while the roads by the ferry are double lane. Well that definitely contributed to the traffic.
I have a rather radical suggestion: Sever that traffic connection to the island entirely. Run a train line to it as a bridge with freight and passenger rail to make sure goods still arrive on the island and force people there to use public transport to get back to the mainland. With mods, I'd have even suggested using freight barges mod because a railway isn't hugely realistic over that distance, but we're working within game limitations here
I've got cs1 for free on psplus but never bought any dlcs. I also can't wait o buy cs2 and for PC this time, it's so sad to play on console without any mods :'(
@@richieepThat's the way of doing it. If you really feel you're missing mechanics that mods cannot provide, then get the appropriate DLCs. If you really get into it, get a few DLCs here and there piecemeal. eventually you're going to complete what you want. Im surprised by the amount of ppl NOT using the industries DLC. I've been fixing a lot of bad traffic maps recently and only ONE did use that DLC. IMHO it's one of the better ones.
In one of _Real Civil Engineer's_ recent C:S videos (the circular city one, about 19 minutes in) he zooms in on a SUV leisurely levitating across a river. When clicked on, the vehicle's destination said _"Driving home to play Cities: Skylines 2"_ 😁🤣
I got lucky and got CS1 on humble bundle with a bunch of DLC for cheap. There's a lot more now though and CS2 is so close that I don't know if it would be worth it
At the beach, where the one way hits the parallel roads, there is only one lane for going onto the exit road. Maybe put a three lane one way, because vanilla. Loving the videos. Hope your new home is pleasing so far.
This game is so nice...the many possibilities it offers to players to solve the problems are really nice. Metro is definitely one of the best if not the best way to solve lots of traffic jams. Add to that a good hierarchy of roads and pretty much any city will work as long as the number of industries and high density shops don't overwhelm the city with thousands of trucks everywhere. The sequel is going to be awesome. Ed: I can't wait to see in the sequel your first roundabout ever, Biffa 😂
Love the semi circular spoke layout for the university area! Looking forward to seeing you build that up some more. I hope in Cities 2 there's the option to have inhabited islands that don't need an underground road to make them work. In the real world I could see somewhere like the Isle of Roy not having any bridge/road connections and just being served by a ferry, with all cars and utilities being provided that way.
If you were to use the large version of the metro station at the trolley bus transfer, it would allow for easier access to the university since it's crossed instead of parallel.
Regarding that island road, I believe you could delete it entirely if it causes you any amount of trouble in the future. The ferry and metro should be enough to carry people to and from the island, and the recycling center can take care of providing what the shops need. As it stands, the road is entirely unnecessary
Speaking from experience, a helicopter service there *will* get hammered... it's a high-speed service which will attract a lot of customers, but has very little capacity. When I put one in in the same location on the map, I ended up with everyone choosing the helicopter over the ferry, resulting in several thousand passengers queuing to fly...
6:07 I think you need to hook the island loop path up with the main loop path again since the ferry depot is on the mainland and they have no way to get to the island loop now
I've found that I really love cable cars for any point to point connection. You don't have to specify the route and the cars basically spawn as needed.
Biffa, I think you're going to need another way out for the bus and taxi depots. The only access road for them dumps onto the one-way entering the tunnel, which means if buses or taxis leaving the depots need to go deeper into the mainland then either they have to make a 135-degree turn cutting across traffic that's coming out of the tunnel, or they have to go all the way out to the Isle of Roy to turn around and come back.
Gotta say, I absolutely love how you're always able to make things look so incredibly nice. My cities always just end up looking like they were created by the borg or something lmao. Well done.
All i can say is i am glad to see that even a pro at this game is struggling to get traffic to run smoothly. wonder how well they will deal with things in CS2.
love the campus. Honestly the decor is amazing. a cricket grounds would be great, or archery spot on campus could be cool, but with so many sports to pick from and room to grow, i''m sure you have plans. still not sure why you never usd the tolleys to place a stop by the ferries. honestly thought that would be a great thing to do, but i mean you got busses there so not all is lost. have you thought about upgrading to a 4lane highway 2+2 for the island conections? i realise with your current connections it will overload the roads at the moment but you could re,link the now underground road with highway ramps, have widers trolley one way roads, and maybe some giggery pokary will make the place run smoothly.
26:30 Why...😢 Why it has to be a right-angled turn... There is a multi-level underground metro station which metro lines can cross perpendicularly at different level🥲
At 22:00 you mention your missing something about the University Student count. you are looking at the goals to level up the Campus. at the very bottom is the current Student Capacity with Max space.. ( about 2222 students) .. And of course you did catch this as I write this.
Had a really weird glitch with a metro line in my own city. I happened to look at my metro lines in Transport Tool and noticed that one line had around 65,000 people waiting on it. Went to view the line and they were virtually all at the same stop! The game near enough locked up at that point, I'm guessing that the game would have crash had I not forced the game to quit.
You could build a nice causeway to connect the island and include the metro on a parallel track. The whole thing could look really nice. If you divert the cruise ship traffic with a port on the south side of the island that might help. I think this beautiful either way
Hi! I really think you should combine the metro lines coming from the university and from the island and replace the station on campus with the large crossover one, which would avoid the bad angle coming into the parallel one.
Would it make sense to link your ferry loops to the new ferry-tram hub? That would allow passengers to pick between either the ferry loop or the tram to spread out across the island.
Really love when we have videos of the vanilla game. I play with some mods, but it just feels much closer to my reality lol it doesn't look like a complete different game
I think the one way loop needs to be three lanes entering the city because there's three directions and going out of city should downsize slowly, basically to just one lane exiting the city (for lane mathematics' sake). Maybe it'd be better to have the road leaving the city be more like a psuedo highway and have fast direct connections to it instead of having the traffic cross and interweave. Edit Comments made before the end of the video are always less valuable than otherwise XD
It felt like you just plopped down the metro station at the build arena on the island and not thought about how the commuters from the Metro can move from metro to the places to go without have to use their pocket cars. So maybe have a overview look at that metro station to see if there’s walking paths and what not to use when they arrive.
Hi Biffa! When you decided to expand north of the highway for the park and campus I really thought you were going to replace that system interchange for a roundabout stack intersection like the ones on the M25 Orbital at M11, A12, A127, A13, etc. (Being American, it pays to have a Michelin Motoring Atlas of Great Britain & Ireland.)
I think you should upzone the blocks surrounding that parallel metro station. Having low density residential zoned around such a high capacity transit stop just doesn't make much sense. I think it'd be perfectly logical to turn it into a Transit Oriented Development.
Is there new Monorail as well? That seems like a good idea for a back and forth connection above water as well. I would make 2 ferry lines pinging back and forth to the main land and the island on both sides of the island.
Instead of making the entrance of the canals shallow you should have made the entrance as deep as your canals are as of right now and the rest of the canals system deep, that should lead to more water in your system, the end could be slowly built up, every 20units or so
