I’m an old guy and started watching and initially hated it “Oh right his first film camera was an RB” “Da fuq? For pull-apart?” “No tripod?” But then “Spain for 15 days and 10 rolls” and something in my whole mean spirited reaction changed. How to pace, understand, conceptualise a new place, new light etc and be confident and content on 7.5 frames per day. Kicked myself in the ass and told myself to shut up and enjoy watching this guy share his love for his craft. Thanks Linus, u got yourself a new fan.
dude i´ve been watching your videos nonstop for hours now and I just can not comprehend how you´re not having a million subs already!?? These videos are insanely well produced and your photos are just incredible! keep up the amazing work brother!
Great video! Your impromptu shoot definitely gives me some inspiration to mix things up in my work, too. While a carefully planned and executed shoot is great, it's also nice when a little chaos is welcomed.
Loved this!! My first film camera's were my Grandpa's Nikkormat FT and Mamiya C33... I could never find info on the C33 as it seemed like everyone had the newer C330, but this just fueled my love for the camera's uniqueness. Took a lot of fun street shots and portraits of my girlfriend and friends over the last 2 or 3 years, and I've totally fallen in love with the square format. But just recently it started breaking down with sticky shutter issues. Watching this video makes me want to take it down to the camera repair place and have it fixed up again. Thanks for the inspo Linus!
So awesome to see how you've grown over the years, The Mama RB67 was the number one camera that I wanted after shooting with my Konica, so it was my first medium format camera. I followed a similar path to you and started developing my own film as well and it was magic to see the huge negatives from the RB for the first time. Thanks for sharing this Linus!
I love the RB67, I use mine for studio portraits with the 180mm lens and use it for some landscape photos with the 50mm lens. The Mamiya glass is insanely sharp. I love it so much I got two new in the box extension tubes and love the close up and macro photography. This camera totally rocks it.
Those are some amazing shots. I can't imagine how excellent the actual prints are. I'm in love. I have that camera but needs work, I'm gonna have to take care of it ASAP.
Gorgeous shots! The RB was also my first medium format camera and one I’ll always be in love with 🫶 Loved all of the shots but that second shoot was so gorgeous! The colours look amazing
The Mamiya Rb67 was my first Medium format camera too but the Pentax 67 is definitely my preferred one. Im in love with it! Amazing videos friend, please keep them coming
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! Although sometimes the photos come out as you wouldn't expect, they have a look that only analogue medium format can give... I started shooting medium format with the Mamiya thanks to my university. They were precious moments that taught me a lot, a lot about the importance of taking a single photo and breathing between shots
not my first medium format camera (RIP C330), but I've been thinking about selling it for over a year and I think I'm just going to keep it. it's an amazing, all mechanical system. the 90mm is amazing and the 180mm is a portrait monster. the instax square back is the cherry on top.
Very cool video. Nice to see Willem co-starring. I think we all have a nostalgia for our first camera. Yours is a cool one, but I so prefer the RZ to the RB. For one, the viewfinder is way brighter and it is so much easier to focus with, imo. Do like your fun impromptu shots with the RB. Loved your honesty in showing your misses. We all been there. So glad your giving the channel some love again. Looking forward to the next one. Cheers.
as I primarily RB67 shooter, I understand completely what you were going through in this video. Photos were absolutely breathtaking though. ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Always love some RB67 love. The RB67 wasn't my first medium format camera, but it did make me fall in love with medium format photography. Those Mamiya lens may be heavy, but they're super sharp. Also, the mirror lock up mode paired with the leaf shutter lenses on that camera is amazing. I love doing long exposures at night with mine. I really enjoyed you going back and scanning your old negatives though on the Frontier. That bit of detail was super fun to see, it really showed your progression as an artist in such a short time. Keep it up!
Loved the intro. RB67 wasn't my first film camera, but when it comes to "serious" (I'm a total amateur) work it's my favourite. My best images have been taken on an RB/RZ.
Really nice video and the photographs/portraits turned out well.. Glad to see more people, especially young people still using the RB67.. It's such a fantastic camera.. I still use it a lot for portrait photography! Well done!! 👏👏
Thank you for this video! Your videos are great and are help inspire me as a photographer. I definitely plan to try out and purchase a medium format some day. Appreciate you.
Yeesss great work man! The shots sitting in the kitchen are fire, they got me talking out loud all by myself going "daaaamn"... Going to have to try get a RB67 soon. Cheers!
What a hell of a first film camera lol. Mine was an s-rt 200 I got for $10 in a bag with a 45 f/2, a 135 f/3.5, a Vivitar 75-205 w a 2x multiplier, a Minolta flash, 3 rolls of expired film, and a weird screw on telephoto adapter that fits none of my lenses lol
I love the bit about how you got into the RB67 exclusively for pack film 😂 I got the RB just for the Binstax, and I have yet to shoot any actual roll film through it after 1 whole year
I absolutely loved this video Linus, more like these relaxed shoots & stories, the BTS fun was such a fun part of the video! The RB67 while it is my second camera, I very much am in the early stages as were you shooting friends & random scenes around my local town but loving every weekend that It gets me out & experience the process & enjoy every moment, it has captured me in a whole new way that has made me love film photography so much more than ever before, so excited to see what comes next! This video made me really curious to shoot pull apart film, it's probably even harder to get nowdays, I might have to stick with shooting gold & my binstax for now 😅
I feel your pain with lugging one of these around Gibraltar, I did the same around Croatia and nearly broke my back... It's a great intro into medium format though for sure!
Yoooo hahaha I bought my first RB to shoot packfilm too! Back then it was the cheapest manual camera you could shoot packfilm on, cheaper than the Mamiya universal and probably half the price of the Polaroid 180. There’s this really cool back by Nagaoka that let’s you shoot two shots on one sheet of packfilm so you can fill the whole frame without leaving any negative space. I’ve also had a hard time focusing with the RB but two things have helped me the Type E focusing screen that has a split prism so you can just line up the two halves in the center to confirm focus and second, the chimney finder which cuts out more light than the waist level finder and gives you a slightly magnified view of the screen. Loved seeing your peel apart shots maybe one day we’ll get a video of you using some of that packfilm you have left 👀👀👀
i just got rid of my rb, i miss it already, but its just too big and heavy and not practical for what i want to do. ended up grabbling a pentax 67, which although still pretty impractical, is a better option for where i am at right now
I just got my rb67. not too easy to handle this heavyweight champion and after ruining two rolls of portra 400 we are bonding now. maybe one day my images are close to yours :) best greetings from Germany!
How do you deal with so many shots being out of focus? For me increasing depth of field by shooting at f8 or f11 is boring because i want my bokeh! Every time I get an out of focus shot I cry a little. 😅
This is my current camera and my first medium format. It’s clear that I definitely need a tripod lol! Did anybody have issues with framing because I’m lucky to even get 6 exposures per roll?
I dont ever use this camera without a tripod anymore, a tripod is a must so that you can avoid the slightest movement but also to be able to have it on a tripod safely and be able to think and be relaxed instead of carrying a tank on your arms. cheers
Hey man i live on a boat in oriental, nc and i go to asheville alot! We should collab sometime, i have bags and bags of old (but fridge stored) film to try out!
maybe if i buy one i will take good photos

thank you so much!! get out and shoot a roll for me :)
I am glad I am not the only one who has trouble focusing the RB. Such a fun video!
i swear the focusing screen i had on my original one was different than this loaner. hard either way 😂

Love the color in this series. A nice break from the typical overexposed-Portra look.
