Thank you Kyle for visiting! It was amazing to have you and show you around the place. Quite a bit happens behind the scenes. Looking forward the next time! -Tuomas/Kamerastore
I've sent them four lenses for offer, and at first I was disappointed with the money they offered, but eventually I fully understood that my expectations towards my old lenses were definitely too high. I highly appreciate their business, I am a regular buyer, and the quality from their hands is absolutely reliable.
I'm from the US, but moved to Finland in 2020. Only recently got into film photography. I've bought my all equipment exclusively through Kamerastore, and that' because it gives me ultimate peace of mind. It's just an all around amazing experience with them. Sure... they're a bit on the pricier side, but you get so much more certainty + support.
I can appreciate their job as I'm working in a customer service with acoustic gear. The organization, the steps and the care are similar. Very familiar to me. They're obviously serious.
What an amazing experience. Thanks for taking us into the holy grail of film cameras. And an amazing company and commitment. The whole analog community owe Kamerastore Finland a lot of gratitude. Very interesting.
This one of the online stores I recommend to my friend who where looking for used cameras for reasonable pricing. If I ever get into film camera or other stuff I'll surely go into this place once again
Can't really agree with the 'buy physically first' sentiment... Why? Often local camera shops are just flipping cameras with no care for the condition. There are exception that support skilled old-school mechanics in the back, but they're the minority.
Interesting stuff Kyle. Like you say a dangerous place to be! Hope you made it out with the GS1 WLF. Its nice to have something a bit different to your usual stuff, which is really good too by the way.
Nice video! I wonder if the Rollei SL66 in the repair area (11:37 onward) is the one I just bought from them last week! Not a very common camera even for them, I'd imagine (according to their site, the one prior to mine was sold back in February, and the one before that in Nov 2022!).
I guess this is not film camera heaven in Finland.... There isa film camera heaven in the world.. .omg.. Loved to see there is huge and great film camera shop in Finland!
I'm not sure that Kamerastore is the largest film camera retailer in the World, actually, I doubt it, but it definitely is one of the largest. What it may be the largest of in the World is as a film camera repair and refurbishing outfit. Most importantly they have most likely the largest stockpile of film camera parts in the World. Additionally, they may by now be the largest training facility for people who want to learn about film camera repair or a professional in that trade.
@11:40 so that means that they are in some way monitoring the price levels of these cameras. Wouldn't hoarding them out from the market lead to price increases? They seem to have *so much* of these things that it might have a small impact already.
It wouldn't be worth tying up cash hoarding cameras until the price goes up. However, it also isn't worth spending the 100-1000€ it costs to repair a camera when the camera would maximally fetch 100€. Yet, selling them broken isn't always an option, so storing them temporarily becomes the best solution.
I think they do, since their page says "We ship to most countries, including the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia/Oceania. If you do not have any shipping options available at checkout you may contact us for a custom quote."
Makes me wish I still worked for a Finnish company ;-) Used to visit Tampere quite a lot and would have loved to visit this fantastic store. But, since I'm in the Netherlands, online will have to do for now. Now let's see what they have on offer...... 🙂. Little update: just ordered a Mamiya RZ lens from them. Happy days!
Your Doc would state "Mr. McDougall, you do have a extreme form of GAS-oritis, and it's often a life long suffering...but you can cure it...well...temporary with some new gear..."
That was one of my favourite parts of the visit. Very cool to see how cameras are tested, and also to see how my Contax performed. I wish I owned one of those machines!
Great place to shop with a large variety. I purchased a restored Canon F-1 that worked great for three weeks. The meter suddenly stopped working. My cost to return it was too expensive for my budget. International shipping for an individual is very expensive.
As a camera technician for 20 years, more than 20 years ago now, this takes me back. Had the Kyoritsu camera tester which made calibrations easy. Would trust Kamerastore repair department instead of myself!
Great video as always ... Like a kid in a sweet shop. I'd love to rummage through those racks. I worked as an assistant in a large London commercial studio back in the 80s. and going into the equipment strong room was much like that racking ... rows and roes of Blads, Mamiyas, Nikons, Sinars, Bronicas ... Great fun
Amazing video Kyle! I really felt it when you approached the GS-1 drawer since I own one myself. Really all the drawer peeking made me feel jealous. And obviously the fact that you got your camera inspected right there in person by a professional. Nico is a class dude as always :)
Not to drive it up... Because it would cost more to repair it than it would sell for. You wouldn't fix your car for 10000€ if it were worth 5000€, either 😅
Lovely video! its like I got to go on a holiday to camera land! Thanks for making this Kyle. They used to have a great photo festival in Tampere, I showed work there back in 2009 or 10. Question: My game plan for RUclips is to get better at making docs and for Canon 5d Mark IV worked ok in the cellar but its terrible when I try and run with it. This video looks AMAZING! Did you film it on the Fuji you wrote in the text? Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed! I used a Lumix S5IIX for this, mostly with their 18mm prime. The S5IIX has the best IBIS in the game, and I also combined it with the e-stabilisation in camera. This crops in slightly, but with the 18mm being quite wide, it didn't matter. The combo of the IBIS and e-stab is pretty impressive for handheld on the go work like this.
@KyleMcDougall amazing thank you. I'll check that out! I'm thinking about getting a Canon C70 as I have so many prime Canon lenses. Ideally I need a camera that someone can use with no experience I want them to help film me for a documentary film I've been trying to make for four years! Ha!
This is really cool. Glad to see there's a market and that these cameras can stay alive with cool companies like this. I had bever heard of this company before, but now it's on my radar. Thanks Kyle! Hope you got to borrow a few pieces to shoot with for you week!
My phone Lock Screen has been a photo from my wedding, but I might need to replace it with a screen grab of that drawer full of M2s. My wife would understand…
What is the best method to store old Equipment? I‘ve seen many Storage Boxes in the video. Is that (combined with silica bags) the best way to protect stuff from deterioration and fungus?
It was great to see the collectors edition of the Maxum 5. Thats one of my favorite cameras. I have 3 working bodies and one extra for parts. Also have 2 DS100s, which are the data transfer attachments for that camera. It’s great to have the EXIF data to attach to your scans. Plus the time stamp allows you to add location data if you track with a GPS. Makes me want to get out and shoot!
Thank you Kyle for visiting! It was amazing to have you and show you around the place. Quite a bit happens behind the scenes. Looking forward the next time! -Tuomas/Kamerastore
Was a fun trip! Thanks for having me out. Definitely need to do another trip and explore Finland further!
Do you ship to Malaysia? Usually how much the shipping cost alone?
@@MaiElizabeth We do! It would be around 45 Euros per order depending on the size and weight.

Yep, I agree. Nice to have confidence in the gear you buy, and also support if any issues arise. Also, just all around great people working there.
Finland added to the list of places I absolutely must visit
Excellent video thanks for showing us around, what a place .
One of the best examples of a Kamerastore tour i have witnessed by far.....Thank you.
I can appreciate their job as I'm working in a customer service with acoustic gear. The organization, the steps and the care are similar. Very familiar to me. They're obviously serious.
A very professional operation!
Placed an order last week and received it the next day, these guys are serious and good too, highly recommend ❤❤❤
I knew it was a big store, but not that big! Scary amount of assets on the books.
It's an impressive operation.
I had no idea the scale of their operation, they always seem so humble and chill. Damn nice!
Great people there!
What an amazing experience. Thanks for taking us into the holy grail of film cameras. And an amazing company and commitment. The whole analog community owe Kamerastore Finland a lot of gratitude. Very interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this content, & coverage of Kamerastore. I need to check them out when I visit Europe. Great to see Nico!
like a child in a toy store at Christmas...enough to want to buy as many cameras to fill a truck, great report, thank you
I need that Ken Rockwell shirt omg
Looking forward to part 2. Finland looks good on you.
Love your documentary video work, Kyle. Really strong.
Nico with the Ken Rockwell legend shirt xD
First thing I noticed, super epic.
need that shirt. legend.
Having so many mechanics under one roof must be brilliant for knowledge exchange and growth of skills.
This one of the online stores I recommend to my friend who where looking for used cameras for reasonable pricing.

Nice weather for trip to Finland
Interesting stuff Kyle. Like you say a dangerous place to be! Hope you made it out with the GS1 WLF. Its nice to have something a bit different to your usual stuff, which is really good too by the way.
I stupidly passed on the WLF, and then ended up buying one when I got back to the UK, for more money haha....
David from MKBHD would be stunned by this video.. pls collab with him and just discusss camera

Thank you Kyle! All that glass and metal ❤ All the fantastic test equipment as well 😊
Would love to have that camera tester in my office!
Great video. That place is like camera geek nirvana
100%!
Great T-Shirt!!! Where do you guys get these?
Kenn, you should visit this place as well & get your picture next to the Kamerastore-man in his KennRockwell t-shirt !
I need this. Trying to find that screen on wayback machine as I'm typing this lol :)
I guess this is not film camera heaven in Finland.... There isa film camera heaven in the world.. .omg.. Loved to see there is huge and great film camera shop in Finland!

That T-shirt goes HARD
Always good to learn how to take better photos.
Saw Destin go here earlier this year. seems like other people are finding it too!
Amazing place...
Wow, I thoroughly enjoyed this Kyle
Glad you enjoyed it!
Outstanding!
Very cool man !!! Keep on shooting on !
Peace ✌️
Tommy.
Dude, you lead a charmed life 👍
Dang. I need to go back to Finland.
Amongst several items purchased from them was a Linhof in beautiful condition for a bargain price.
Long may they prosper!
Plaubel Makina with nikkor 80 dream camera…now i need episode 2 already 😅
I bought a Mamiya Super 23 last year and I was very pleased with it. UK will need to pay import tax.
Well, this looks professional.
I still have my Contax RTS (first version). It does need some work which I keep planning to get done but haven’t yet.
pls dont make a video about the Plaubel, then I'll have to buy one, they're so beautiful. (secretly looking forward to next vid)
😁 It's a nice one!
7:20 Now I want that repair-use winding knob for my camera!
Awesome video!
❤❤❤❤
True heaven !!!!!!!
that single SL66 on the top shelf at 11:50
honestly the best part of the entire video is that Ken Rockwell shirt.
I agree
Came here to say this
@@NicosPhotographyShow Goes very hard. Where do I get one?
The og legend
I also wish to support his growing family. Where do I buy one?
Did you say waste level finder for an SQ 1? If so ,I have one that’s in great shape and can send you.
GS1. I appreciate that though.
omg I want to go there so bad haha.
not the rockwell shirt 🤣🤣

Heaven
Это рай!!! Я бы не смог оттуда уйти.
Heaven ❤😅
coffe! :-D
i bought 99% from them
You even give their homepage? Why are you doing it to me??? I have to save money...
The Minolta lens hood collection is bonkers but charming.
Yep, that's some dedication.
Oh no I just found out the used section of this website, this os dangerous for my wallet, what have I done, I've just opened Pandora's Box
min 30; a camera you do not see everyday but I just got one for free, alpha7!
Suomi mainittu! Torilla tavataan! (Finland is mentioned! Let's meet at the market place!) :-D
Loved this. So nice to see the Kamerastore fam

I see Nico in the thumbnail - I upvote before watching :)
The true heaven for film photographers! This was an awesome watch, it was so interesting to see the camera checking machinery in action.
That was one of my favourite parts of the visit. Very cool to see how cameras are tested, and also to see how my Contax performed. I wish I owned one of those machines!
I’ve seen one of those Rollei
Definitely seems like a dangerous place to go. Might have to leave my wallet at the hotel.
Yeah, almost impossible to visit and not buy something, hah.
Great place to shop with a large variety. I purchased a restored Canon F-1 that worked great for three weeks. The meter suddenly stopped working. My cost to return it was too expensive for my budget. International shipping for an individual is very expensive.
Wtf thats crazy
LOL that Ken Rockwell shirt ...

That was just sick! Now I wanna go there and buy some gear! Great video!!
I was really excited when I saw that you had come to Finland. I’ve been waiting for this video to drop! ✌
Amazing country. Can't wait to go back.
Very cool - thanks for doing this. I hope you didn’t go into debt with this visit 😂
😁💸
I NEED that Ken Rockwell shirt

Kyle this is a awesome video had no idea these guys existed, I will be buying my next used Hasselblad from them vs Ebay Japan sellers. Thank you!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was amazing. Love the team over there. And those cameras at the end 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great people running the place! Wish I could have had time to try out the 6x24.
When you store a bunch of shit to try and drive up price to make it feasible to repair...
Not to drive it up... Because it would cost more to repair it than it would sell for. You wouldn't fix your car for 10000€ if it were worth 5000€, either 😅
A+++
Such a cool video, Kyle! I enjoyed seeing Nico (I miss his news channel) and his Ken Rockwell t-shirt!! I'm looking forward to your images.
Nico definitely is a busy guy there! Was nice to finally meet him in person after connecting online over the years.
Nico is ALIIIIIVE! 🧟♂
Alive and well, but we keep him on our basement 😈 Someone's gotta run this camera restoration factory!
I'd love to dig through their Leica collection 🤤

Oh this is a sweet visit, very cool (and possibly hazardous for your wallet). Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed this one! I'll keep that in mind next time I'm in the area.
Beautiful video!!! Nico and his peers are very professional .... I know now where to buy gear.
All the best

I would say it all depends on where you live. Here in the UK, I use a dry cabinet. But it's a very different climate and much more wet.
I've bought a used M42 lens from them! I didn't realize they were in Finland!!
bro in the beginning did not seem that tall in the car lmfao holy

I find the later film camera technology so interesting. Just to go back and see what the innovations were at that point.
