Sweetest, mellow sound to ever come out of a banjo. Beautiful craftsmanship too.
Not gunna lie: that’s like saying a knife is good cause it ain’t sharp.
@@apennameandthata2017 thank you for not lying about that
@@apennameandthata2017 Good for butter and marmalade.
It sounds like a cross between a banjo and a guitar. It’s not a typical banjo sound, but I like it.
@@scaredyfish Same for me, I found it very pleasing...but I'm not a huge banjo fan.
I am an old man now😊. I started playing the banjo many, many years ago….years before you were born. Admittedly, I was an Earl Scruggs disciple. Your videos always make my day…I always look forward to your new ones. Thank you for being such a treasure in my dotage. Your gord banjo is a genuine treasure!
She's the greatest isn't she 🙂
She’s too good for Cambridge right?
Ain't she just the cutest, Charlie Brown!
Chomo
Can I ask her something
Thank you for sharing my banjo! We all love the way you play Phoebe! You make my banjo sound way better than I could ever make it sound 😅
There's nobody else I would rather give a banjo to.
Splendid piece of work Sir!
Everything about this video is charming. Love from UK
🪕🇬🇧
Incredible build @jesseheadluthierie
God bless you sir. You are one of a kind.
This is so cute & wholesome! Beautiful job! 😊
the title isn't click bait. it's the best ever
Doc is so smart! We can watch her figure out how each instrument plays different.
That banjo has an AMAZING sound to it.
Super agree with you and also the way it looks super unique!
When I was a kid learning the banjo my mother did everything possible to deaden the sound for some peace in the house. If I had this banjo with its sweet sound, my family would have enjoyed my learning process more. It’s a beautiful instrument.
that's the exact word to describe how this instrument sounds.. just a sweet sound and doesn't hurt the ears.. it's not too late to play a beautiful banjo though 😊
Suggestion for the name: "Bumpkin"
Because it's a Banjo, a pumpkin and a chicKin.
Or maybe 'Berl' as in 'Berlin' because it has a "wall" nut top.
That's a very nice idea for the banjo name!
Great idea sounds lovely 😍
What a beautiful mellow sound that banjo has! Often I find banjo a bit 'twangy', but that one is smooth as silk. Love it. And I haven't even watched the whole video yet. 😎
Edit: Ok, so it needs a name beginning with b.. hmmm.. How about 'Blitzen'? As in Santa's reindeer. Because a) you got it as a present and b) it has an antler.
My work here is done... 🤣
That's a great looking Banjo! You should call it Brando because it's branded with your chicken!
"Brando. It's got what banjerinas crave!"
@@piguy3point14 It's got electrolytes.
That's a sweet banjo Phoebe. Love the antler arm rest. Your shed is quickly becoming Phoebe's Banjo Barn.
The first chicken to achieve immortality since Foghorn Leghorn. What a beautiful instrument, great sound, and touching memorial.
I really like the tone of this banjo. One or two more and you can open up a banjo museum!
Definitely a mellow sound! More like mandolin. Sweet a clear, almost gentle. Thank you.
Jesse is an artist crafting such a beautiful piece that sounds so great!
Such a compliment, it's too much. Thank you 😅
@@jesseheadluthieriebecause you are, honey ❤️
Sweet sound and very natural ... back to the roots in Africa 🙂
Love the bookmatched walnut and the Osma inlay!
Osma *doffs hat, holds over heart*
A wooden inlay doesn't change anything with the sound of the instrument.
But it demonstrates the love and dedication of the luthier which will definitely also have an effect on the sound.
I am really impressed how much time my luthier spent on the inlays of the instruments he built for me.
So, looking at such a beautiful looking and sounding instrument in this video it comes back to my mind.
Beauregard!! Thank you for these!!!
71 living solo!! I smile and my foot taps every time!!! Peace!!
the sound is between mandolin & classical guitar , that 's very beautiful .
That instrument sounds great... such a warm, gentle sound.
"Gourdgeous" we can't let her wield this much power
buck buck buck Buckee ! the Banjo ! So warm ! Beautiful Instrument ! Bucky the Banjo !
I'm learning more about banjos thanks to this channel, but this is the prettiest sounding banjo I've ever heard!
I couldn't agree more.. it sounds so smooth that it doesn't hurt the ears ☺️
What a wonderful Banjo! He is a real artisan!
And what a wonderful Banjo player too! Phoebe, you’re THE BEST! Love your yellow studio and the low ceiling... You Go Girl! ❤️
The scaling is exceptionally designed.
That instrument is cool. It's got a really unique sound. Distinct from a banjo and a guitar. Really a nice tone.
Looks and sounds fantastic! 👌
Hey, I just stumbled upon your channel and subscribed.
It was kinda serendipitous since I just started getting into banjo, recently. I, honestly, just clicked on your video because of how photogenic you are but was then surprised by how genuinely cool your content is.
That gord banjo is so well crafted that it's a playable work of art. And I really like the others you have in the background. I'm going to have to go back through your videos as I'm still in that early learning stage as far as banjos go.
I started learning guitar 5 years ago, when I was 20, and enjoy fingerpicking so I'm interested to see if having those skills will make it easier for me to pick up banjo.
Banjo name suggestion: Bantam (after the chicken breed)
The nail counter vibration can make beautiful buzz songs
She's so nice. Always making me happy watching her.
The clarity of that instrument is INSANE!! and the TONE!!!! WOW... utterly impressed with this entire video, your spirit and your impeccable playing. Amazing!~
My father played banjo almost his full 100 years. I was never that fond of the instrument, but I always appreciated his skill on it. Hearing the gourd-head banjo helps me understand why I didn’t love the “drum head” style. I love the sound of your gourd-head banjo!
Sounds way less nasal and has a lot more sustain than your typical skin top banjo. I love the sound!
Love the 🐔 inlay. Very cool banjo.
Dr. Phoebe, I love this gourd banjo! It really suits you! ♥♥♥♥♥ Kudos to Jesse!!! Thanks, Jesse, for supplying my favorite Practitioner of Banjo with such a fine instrument! All the best to you!
Whoa, I love the timber of that instrument!
Nice tone from your terrific looking banjo. I appreciate how you talk about each of your instruments and the variety you've collected. One of the other things I enjoy about your channel is your authenticity. You seem very down to earth and honest. By the way, I hope your finals went well! Keep up the good work and wonderful videos.
Wowzer! That is one beautiful banjo. It sounds wonderful! So warm! Congratulations 😎
Just discovered your channel this week. Your banjo playing puts a smile on my face and brightens my day. You're an excellent human, enjoy your awesome new banjo!
*nods* Excellent human.
"It's a Banjo Channel."
You bet your sweet gizzards it is!
Pumpkin Beau, as the hole & long ,vibe! Is a delight❤😊😂
I love your energy, enthusiasm and your wonderful smile❤
That is a true work of art! Great job Jesse, and thank you for helping our favorite banjo friend
I am new to your channel and the reason I say that is, I know absolutely nothing about banjos other than out of all the instruments. The banjo is my all time favorite. I'm 60 and when I was knee high to a grasshopper. I would sit and listen to my granddad play and my other granddad play the accordion. When they got together it was so much fun. But when I got much much older I happen to see that banjo at my mom and dad's. That's when my dad told me the history of that banjo. It was my granddads, grandfather's and he played it while at war during the Civil War. The memories just amplified for myself. Sorry long winded comment. What I just meant to come and say. That gore banjo has a amazing sound. Really enjoyed this video.
The Osma inlay is amazing oh my goodness!
Gorgeous, I've never seen a gourd banjo - Maybe name it "Birdie" since it has the chicken on it on it, or "Bestie" since Osma was one of you best friends.
You’re glowing! So blessed to here you play!!
Its really cool to see someone totally passionate about what they do. God be with you!
The world is a much more beautiful place every time I see your face!
Your musical arts delight our hearts!
🎶💜🥰
At 78 with 40 yrs frailing experience my fingers are getting stiff and losing more brain cells then I'm replacing its so good to see younger generation stepping up. Banjo is so fun and I have so many great memories through the years .You sound great girl
been picking since I was 6years old it's nice to see a young woman playing with the banjo. love the gourd.
Nice sound! Beautiful work, In a world of plastics and composites ...a gourd of all things, Awesome!
Very nice, Phoebe. Your nifty gourd banjo gifty has a light, bright sound with great volume & reverberation."Thank you!" to you & your benefactor.
Henny Penny is gone but not forgotten.
Be Well.
Great looking instrument and a wonderful mellow tone. What a fantastic addition to your Banjo Barn. No wonder you are so excited! :D
Love that tone - mellow and rich! And it is so aesthetically beautiful. 💜
It looks really cool and sounds so warm and sweet.
Phoebe, that sounds fabulous, especially with you playing it. I'd love one like that!
Awesome banjo. You deserve it !
The sound of that is so beautiful
please please please stop stressing about the lighting and the camera angle and the mic and the camera angle and the lighting, and did i mention the lighting? ... you and your playing is what im here for, it's somewhat healing.
sorry for if im saying this all wrong.
anyone here for the lighting and camera angle doesn't get why this channel is already great anyways..
thanks Phoebe 🐔💙
I'm glad that you pointed that out. She will mature way past those minor things on her way to a bright future.
I think the wrong part in your wording is to assume that it is "stressing." Sensitive, creative people can feel the little details in things and that's ok and I for one welcome such remarks in these videos if that's what comes to heart. As the other commenter alluded to, nothing need be changed, any little details that are important to them will be ironed out with time, naturally.
@@ma11221
fair enough, maybe i'm the one stressing
I agree that you, Phoebe, don’t need to worry too much about the lighting. The mic, sure, because that’s how we hear you. But, even were you playing in complete darkness, I would listen to those sweet sounds. Music is truly an auditory experience.

И, спасибо за отличное вечернее настроение, Фиби! !! :-)
Phoebe, you make that thing sound good. I admire every one of those handmade banjos, that in your hands become instruments.
What a sweet calm sound.
What a LOVELY sound! That's just so rich. It almost has autoharp overtones. And I love "Wildflowers".
A name? Bellina!
That is honestly probably the prettiest banjo I’ve ever heard!
Хорошая память об Озме! Даже лучшая память! :-)))
What a warm & wonderful sound!!
Banjo has always been my favorite instrument to listen to. I especially love this one!
Great tonality on the gourd banjo. Very soothing.

I really like the gentle sound of this banjo. Very beautiful sound. And instrument!!!
Henrietta is the obvious name for that banjo, IMO! very nice work and lovely playing!
It’s has a lovely sound. A wonderful magical banjo.
That thing is so cool... but what's really great is your enthusiasm your music !!!
A wonderful instrument!
I think I would name him Bozma.🥰
No need for apologies for those things we see, nor hear, not.
As thoughtful as we all should be, you are perfectly fine in your kindness! 🤟🏽
Wow! That’s beautiful craftsmanship!
Beautiful craftmanship on the guord banjo. You are such a nice person so i am glad you were gifted such a lovely instrument. A genuine person playing a genuine instrument.😊

Beautiful look and sound! Congratulations to you for your new baby. Excellent work!
Looks and sounds great. Good tone.
Love that Banjo. I have my late Fathers 1940 Clifford Essex Regal, it needs reskinning really but it's a beautiful Instrument, Mother of Pearl Neck Inlays and a stunning Mahogany Resonator. ✌❤🙏🥂🇬🇧
Great enthusiastic video.
You help keep the banjo alive!
I’m envious of that banjo, also, thirsty birds in the background…
Lovely banjo, and great to see you having fun with your instruments, and playing really neat tunes. Keep on picking!
Beautiful tone. Beautiful banjo. Thanks for sharing.
Cool! Great sound!
