"Banjo Joe" was made by the Harmony Co. in Chicago. They sold it with lots of different names on the headstock, but it was known as their "Reso-Tone" model, made from moulded Bakelite, an early form of plastic, very hard and brittle. I have one with the optional resonator back, also in Bakelite. I have softened the tone by using nylon strings, and I think it stands up very well in comparison with "grander" banjos. Thank you for the video - very entertaining, and good luck with your channel for the future.
I never considered myself a "banjo enjoyer" until I randomly clicked on one of your videos and your sweet and engaging personality won me over. I have said this before and it bears repeating: you are a breath of fresh air. Congratulations on 25K, and best wishes 🎉❤
Congrats on 25! You filmed this a month ago but GOD put it on my feed today so this is my first time seeing it. Today is my birthday and getting to see this video has been an amazing birthday present! Thank you Phoebe and GOD Bless! And hang on tight young lady, your channel is growing faster than you know. You sew you time and love richly into bringing us joy with music and GODs system can not be stopped, those who sew richly reap richly. You have been planting fields and fields of banjo corn contentedly. . . Well when you plant a bunch of corn it tends to come up. It's July 24th so that corn is just a bit taller than knee high but that's a lot of fields you sewed, and growth on RUclips is in exponential jumps and leaps of growth. 100k is just around the corner and that won't take but a few fretless Fridays to jump to a million then five then ten to fifteen and growth is explosive from there. Get with friends and make the sillyest banjo you can think of that still sounds good enough to have fun with and put a giant Mr beast logo on it and give him a shout out and tag this video in the description. Then just do everything as normal having seen that seed and placed it in GODs hands. Don't think about it just plant the seed and prep for the next fretless Friday ;~) GOD has blessed you Phoebe Sanders 🙏 ;~) Keep having fun out there 😊
Fresh sub here! Just trying to decide if I want to play clawhammer banjo and came across this video! You have great energy, thank you for sharing your collection and joy with us! Congrats on 24k!
You have such a bright and charming personality. I love your banjo playing, but your videos are more than mere playing. I, too, have been when 1,500 followers were a wow. I wow with you at the awesome 25,000 mark. Maybe many are like me, drawn to your next, always unique video post.
Good grief... I was expecting some sort of octopus CGI Phoebe playing them all at once. Thank goodness I didn't have to watch that, would've scared the life out of me. Congrats on the big audience. Good channel.
On your first banjo, I took the liberty of taking a screen shot of the soundboard, did some research, and found out some stuff about it. It's a low end banjo manufactured from Harmony parts with a REMO WeatherKing head. It was manufactured in Chicago, probably in the late 1960s or 1970s.
I myself started out as a bass player and then i bought myself a guitar and played that alot too, then i bought a banjo and git obsessed, i only have 1 banjo, but I have 4 basses, 5 electric guitars, 5 acoustic guitars, 4 ukuleles, 3 mandolins, 3 balalaikas, 2 accordians, 1 drum set and 1 mouth harp. But im glad to say that you have inspired me to start with the banjo again ❤️ You have realy quickly become my absolute favorit chanel by far. Never stop with what you love to do and keep on going with your chanel and your banjos ❤
I like the sound on the fret less. Nice and clear, no buzz of course. The fancy loaner and the last heavy are good. One more string and your Panjo could be GDAE Irish banjo or mandolin either way.
Joe buzz, bilbolele, Bertie (indian head nickel), Buzzy, Bixby the fretless, Bartholomew, Bozma (ohh, how the low notes ring!), Bernice the "whistle head" panjo, and Bruce all well represented...no socks and proud of it, we are content with you, Blessings and Shalom in Him
Congratulations, and no doubt more people will arrive. 25k is quite a lot already for a non-Bluegrass banjo channel, at least judging by the other people I follow - must be on account of your astute supplementary targeting of the hat and chicken demographics. Thanks for all the fun, Phoebe. 🎩🐔🪕🙂
Banjo enjoyer soon to be banjo player here! Been playing guitar for 25 years and your videos inspired me to finally pick up a banjo as I have always been curious. Ordered a Vangoa and it’s out for delivery today! Cheers to 25k subs!🎉
Phoebe, I have listened to your last 2 Fretless Fridays and am loving the warping you can do with Bixby. I learned his name by watching this one, which RUclips kindly offered me. Thank you for sharing all your banjo-love! (Aislinn’s mom.)
I don't know what draws me to your videos the most. Is it your soul nourishing music? Maybe your quirky, peace generating personality? The safe-space homey feel of your background settings? Likely it's the whole recipe and includes secret ingredients I can sense but not quite name. Anyway, thank you. Please keep nourishing life and creating a virtual environment of joy for us to rest in.
I found your channel by accident after stumbling upon your Fretless Friday videos! I recently picked up a fretless mountain banjo and have been attempting to learn clawhammer. Its been a lot of fun so far! I play the Cajun accordion and have never been very good when trying out stringed instruments, but I'm getting better every day. Your channel is full of positivity and good music, and I've enjoyed watching it grow so far. Congrats on the 25k, and keep being you!
Congratulations 🎉 The Ute are a native American tribe from the Colorado/Utah area. Wow, I just finished watching, and I really enjoyed the celebration! It was very nice to see the chronology of tour banjo journey laid out with instruments as milestones. I still think you could do something with the electric banjo -- but not with that amp or that banjo 😂 My favorite is the gourd banjo. The sound is really distinctive, like a harp or kora. I look forward to seeing the shiny spot on the wall
Remember 'The Sky is the Limit! " We will see you in concert someday... One of my very favorite banjo players is Abigail Washburn, I listened to her interview many years ago on MPR and listened to her play banjo and sing in Chinese. It was absolutely wonderful! I recently saw her perform with Wu Fei in Minneapolis Minnesota. So, many Blessings, I have been sharing your page with friends.
Congrats on the 25K Phoebe. Don't worry too much about RUclips. It too will pass. Your playing is the important thing. I'm hoping you jsee you jump onto the overseas folk festival circuit in good time. A great way for a youngster like you to see the world. I'll come and see you when you get to Australia.
My first banjo was a 1960s Sears, kind of like your Chicago but made of wood. A friend was given it when he was a child, but he never did anything with it… so he gave it to me.
I am a part of the banjo, enjoy yours also an avid lover of chickens. I love the fact that after watching your content, I always leave with a smile and a lighthearted feeling makes my day better!
Hi Phoebe, congrats!! 🥳 I have that same pickup, and mine doesn't sound like that. I think the amp is the problem; and if you string an electric guitar as you said, it's still going to sound blown out 😪
I stumbled onto your channel today and watched a bunch of your videos. Wow, you're an amazing, adorable, talented, heartwarming person. Thank you for being you, and thanks for sharing your children with us.
Congratulations, once again, Dr. Phoebe on your 25,000 subscribers! What a fun banjo tour! I am really liking the Gourd banjo! He has a great tone! Much love and God's blessings to you, Doc! ❤❤❤❤❤
Congrats on 25K! Y'know ... that 100K plaque would look real nice up there ... Bartholomew was my favorite, by far. Excellent banjo which inspires you to your best playing.
your channel has been my intro to banjo music and i’m loving it! I’m not typically big into instrumental music but your energy and vibes are so fun and lovely! It’s impossible to be bored watching a Phoebe video :)
I love the old Chicago those were really cheap back in the 50's 60's The old bakelite pot on those things crack really easy. good wall hanger anyway. The Ohm is a nice player and a decent banjo all around. Vangoa would play better with light gauge steel strings. I love all of your instruments and love watching you play them all Thanks for sharing all your treasures, Fail on.
to be honest, i know next to nothing about banjos, but i’m so glad i stumbled on your channel! i love seeing how passionate you are, thank you for making these videos :)
Now I don't feel so bad with eight guitars, one banjo and one ukulele in my house. Stringed instruments seem to like to grow families. And my cheapest guitar is my favorite! Congrats on 25K, Phoebe! I always enjoy your videos. If you're here for the first time, CLICK SUBSCRIBE so Phoebe can get that plaque (and more money).
Congratulations on reaching 25000 subs. Well deserved for your great banjo playing, hat collection, chickens, fretless fridays and cool backgrounds topped off with your sparkling personality and your great banjo playing 😊
"A bad banjo is better than no banjo at all!" Never truer words were said.
Indeed!
"Banjo Joe" was made by the Harmony Co. in Chicago. Heres to 25k more
Proud to be one of the 25.6K. Trying to teach myself banjo after decades of guitar playing. Thanks for being here!
It's never a dull moment at Phoebe's Banjo Bungalow. Chickens outside, house plants inside and top notch banjo playing all around!
Thanks Phoebe. I know you love your banjos and I think they love you too.
Thank you so much for taking us along on your journey. Thank you for not over-editing. You demonstrate excellence over perfection.
Absolutely correct, Tracie.
You made ol' Banjo Joe sound pretty good.
Bilbo’s bridge may be in the wrong place, throwing it out of tune up the neck. Easy fix.
I always find myself with a smile on my face when I watch your videos! Thanks! :)
Phoebe is so cool.
Congrats on 25! You filmed this a month ago but GOD put it on my feed today so this is my first time seeing it. congrats on 25k! A lot of beautiful sounding banjos, I'm biased toward the gourd but they're all amazing. Hope you hit 100K soon!
Go phoebe, go phoebe, we all love you❤️❤️
Congrats! You deserve it. Your channel rocks! I will be here when you hit 100K.

From Bruce to Bruce love the tone. Great great great. I can send socks. God Bless.
25!!! 🫂🫂

Congratulations on 25K, it feels like it was just the 10k special not that long ago! Love your videos!

Thumbs 👍 well done you deserve it.

I love that bango with the deer antler arm rest, it sound super soft but still rings the nots out loud enough. It's just nice.
Hi Phoebe
Enjoyed that one. Thank you.
Thanks for the banjo lessons!
I actually really like the sound of Buzzy. It's not an unpleasant buzz and gives it a distorted feel that's cool.
Banjo enjoyer soon to be banjo player here! Been playing guitar for 25 years and your videos inspired me to finally pick up a banjo as I have always been curious. Ordered a Vangoa and it’s out for delivery today! Cheers to 25k subs!🎉
I really like the sound of Bruce. And I love the fretless banjo. Thanks for sharing all your banjos.

Despite the electrical banjo... you've made me smile.
Well done, the town I grew up in had less than 25k. That's a lot of people. So how many hats ?
Oh, let's hear more whistling (16:20)!
You should buy a violin too. One can never have too many instruments!
Love the shack colour!!!
Congratulations!
Congratulations on reaching 25K! Thanks for the tour of your banjos! Great show!
What a great lunch break! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

This is a wonderful comment and I agree, a soul refreshing place.
Very nice collection of banjos
Thanks!
Thank YOU!
I've never been crazy about banjo, folk, bluegrass etc. but it's way more tolerable to me the way you present and deliver, and, of course, *play* it!😃
Nothing better than a pleasant person playing pleasant music on a pleasant instrument.
Thank you. 😊
I am polite and sitting through the electric banjo. Thanks.
Lovely banjos
Great way to celebrate 👍
Ooh, I like the sound of Bertie!
I just got my first banjo a couple months ago! Ive been playing guitar for about 10years and I love banjo so much!
So entertained here, thank you Phoebe. I like how you don't edit out the odd bits...it feels live and genuine. Here's to 50K 🎉
The banjo music is nice and all but honestly ... I'm just here for the chickens.
I found your channel by accident after stumbling upon your Fretless Friday videos! I recently picked up a fretless mountain banjo and have been attempting to learn clawhammer. That old Chicago banjo started you on this 25,000 subscribers and banjo odyssey. It is priceless.
An Indian-head nickel!
That's 1 minute per banjo! Congrats Phoebe! Nice collection
Living the dream! Great video and it's so nice to meet your children!

Sweet banjo

your banjo collection is awesome and you are truly adorable, thanks for the good vibes.
congrats Phoebe! you are impressive, and a joy to watch and listen to. best wishes with everything!
You make them all sound great but my favourite is the mellow sound of the gourd banjo ❤

Too arthritic to play but, I can enjoy and appreciate. Thank you for the smiles and heart felt feelings.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

That Jesse Head banjo is incredible! Love your channel, Phoebe!
I feel like an old-timer, I remember when five of those banjos arrived.
Party on Phoebe
Hi Phoebe, congrats!! 🥳
I have that same pickup, and mine doesn't sound like that. I think the amp is the problem; and if you string an electric guitar as you said, it's still going to sound blown out 😪
You need a minstrel banjo next!
I stumbled onto your channel today and watched a bunch of your videos. Wow, you're an amazing, adorable, talented, heartwarming person. Thank you for being you, and thanks for sharing your children with us.
Thank you so much!!!
You are just the best .. claw hammer most of the time - but pick a little too when required .. ! 💚😂😂
Congratulations Phoebe!!
Have you seen Molly Tuttle's clawhammer guitar playing? Love the videos.
Congratulations, once again, Dr. Phoebe on your 25,000 subscribers! What a fun banjo tour! I am really liking the Gourd banjo! He has a great tone! Much love and God's blessings to you, Doc! ❤❤❤❤❤

I enjoy your videos. I am taking banjo lessons at age 61. You are a cool young lady and inspiring.
Congratulations!!
OMGosh! I love that you have so many banjos! Like, it’s making day. I have a collection of rigid heddle looms.
Very nice. I love that "ringy sound". Isn't that what a banjo is partly about, though? Love all the yellows, my favorite color.
Congratulations on this milestone. You're a delight.
That was very cool you showing us all your banjos. Great story. congratulations on 25 thousand.
YYYIIIIIPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Now I don't feel so bad with eight guitars, one banjo and one ukulele in my house. Stringed instruments seem to like to grow families. And my cheapest guitar is my favorite! Congrats on 25K, Phoebe! I _do_ want a kazoo tour! It'll show me that I'm not the only one with a lot of kazoos-or maybe that I grossly underestimate what constitutes a lot.
Congratulations on reaching 25000 subs. Well deserved for your great banjo playing, hat collection, chickens, fretless fridays and cool backgrounds topped off with your sparkling personality and your great banjo playing 😊
