I think that the reason you get such nice comments is that, rather than creating a web personality, what we see seems to be the real Phoebe Sanders which is really refreshing. The first album I ever bought was The Best of Marcel Marceau. What a sucker I was.
Hey musical sista..imma a retired black man whom is learning Blues guitar with slides and even though I have never focused on banjo, your informative videos are AMAZING n AUTHENTIC!! I want a fretless bass now..🤭 And I must say YOU blew me away about Sam Cooke!! Aretha Franklin and Sam Cooke are my favorite singers of all time!! Keep teaching us Sista..there is too much to tell you..😅
In the words of the brilliant and zany Devin Townsend, “your vibe attracts your tribe.” Your enthusiasm and whimsy gives us all a few minutes of bright cheeriness, it’s nice to see a positive loop forming-the world needs more of that. Plus, you have (had?) a propeller hat. That’s enough to put you in the winner’s circle right there!
No mean comments? Let me try to be the first... I absolutely HATE IT when your videos end! Had enough? Well there's more where that came from ;) Keep on keepin' on Miss Phoebe!
Your personality shines through in your videos. Your style of presenting will bring many fans - that should not surprise you. Your banjo playing - well - I'm close to 70 and - well heck your my favorite player!! Your hammer lightens my day, Thank You.
Dude! 10k subscribers already?! That's an entire town of people saying "We love this girl and we want to see what she does next!" You really are the coolest dang RUclipsr ever! Congrats! Onward and upward, banjo girl of style! Maybe we should all blast your name to Steve Martin on social media so he notices ya. ;)
I just stumbled across your videos today. I was immediately hooked. Amazing playing. The Great Remember (Extended) was really enjoyable - TWICE. I enjoy your own flair added to any pieces you play - your rhythm, softening your tone here and there, your improvs - all very enjoyable. I wish I'd known of you before. Keep it up! You have a new fan. :)
Miss Sanders, your entirely genuine personality and talent are the reason why only nice people watch and subscribe to your content. And I love chickens ... too!
Dr. Phoebe! The word is spreading!!! I am pleased to be one of a growing number of recipients of your maximum strength doses of banjo!!! Keep up what you are doing, and keep being your remarkable self. We will be seeing that RUclips play button plaque very soon! As always, Doc, God's blessings and much love to you! ❤❤❤❤❤
I found a dead mouse in my attic, but he was in unplayable condition! Seriously, you do a wonderful job not only on banjo, but of engaging your viewers, which is why you will go far. I look forward to your videos more than anyone else I can think of on RUclips.
CONGRATULATIONS on you large. Number of Subscribers Phoebe. With your Sweetness and your Banjo skills, I am sure your Subscribers will Continue to Grow.
A note. Make sure to take proper care to play all your banjos, you don't want one to feel left out and become morose. My guitars are touchy that way. Truly love your music and the joy you take in it.
Been watching since about 100 subs... and I've been waiting for this video... Its been wonderful to see you improve and the channel grow! Onward to 100k! Congrats on your hard work paying off!
A friend gave me an old cheap banjo years ago. It was so cheap the neck was made of pressboard. I made another neck for it and fooled around with it for a while. I was never fond of the fret markers I made. I need to redo the neck and learn a few more songs on it now that I'm retired and have the time. I like the old-timey, nostalgic sound of clawhammer.
I subscribes yesterday. I really like your channel! I play folk-music myself but only north european, so I really enjoy seeing some american folk. You have a lovely channel!
Just found your channel a couple days ago. I enjoy your friendliness and positivity. I wish you all the best and look forward to getting to hear more of your dedication to your recently found craft!
QUESTION -- Is the "Drop Thumb" Banjo method of playing the same as the "Clawhammer" method? Before his passing, I occasionally heard Uncle Josh Graves, the Dobro player, speak of the "Drop Thumb" method that he said his Uncle used to play. I am glad people like you keeping the Clawhammer Banjo Alive. THANK YOU Phoebe.
Claw hammer! Your kung fu is strong. You wouldn't have this many viewers if YOU were not good. The songs I'd like to hear: Wildwood Weed The Cotton eye Joe
I always say that there are no sad songs on a banjo. Maybe that’s why I like your channel because of your positivity. I am trying to learn clawhammer style at 73 but it’s hard to train my brain. I did come up with a song when I dropped the D string to C. At least I hope it’s original, but I’ve heard so many songs in nearly 3/4 of a century.
Congratulations Phoebe on 10k followers. A young girl with an old soul that plays claw hammer banjo. No wonder we love you so much. You can't get much better than Tommy Jarrell and Fred Cockerham for inspiration.
I don't know Phoebe, some people kind of observe other people and need to be part of the crowd or have company all the time, and other people are just as they say "comfortable in their own skin". I wish I could have a long recording of you because it would be great background music for doing anything, Check out Gerry Garcia's "Shady Grove" album he has some great tunes on there. I hope to see you live one day-get over to NYC (I'm in NJ lol). All good things in all good time. I'm happy because I've only seen like ten of your videos and know there are more while you are adding more.
Congrats on 10k subscribers!! So glad I found your channel. My wife and I thoroughly enjoy watching and listening to you. P.S. I’m an old man trying to learn to play the banjo. You are such an inspiration!
I used to live in a shed. Built a banjo and learned to play some. You remind me of me, when I was younger. I learned the two finger mountain style. You're Sounding Good!
I've only been watching you performing until now. I'm so happy to discover that your personality is exactly how I imagined. You are fantastic all around.
I’ve only just gotten into the banjo, i’m english but my partner is american so i’ve been introduced to everything american, plus Appalachian culture seems to have evolved a lot from english immigrants to the region so it is similar to what i grew up with. You were the first banjo channel i found and i’m so glad you were because of your energy and enthusiasm for the instrument, keep up the good work.
Similar to your start, I found my Dad's old guitar in the back of the closet! He never knew about it, because I would play with it while he was gone! So I learned, and play by ear, and love it! I now play rhythm with a small group! Good luck sweetheart!🌹💃🧎🥰♾️🌴🌅⛱️🦩🪕🎸🎶💕
Awesome, congratulations, love the way you play,i play blues harmonica,i started when i was 13,i play by ear,and wright songs on the fly, I'm 60 now, you rock keep up the great work!😎👍
Please do a close up of your claw hand going slowly. I see a lot of tutorials that are four feet away. A close up would be great! Great job growing your channel to 10k! On to 100k!
Congrats on reaching 10K, from Ontario Canada. I actually just started “trying” to learn the Banjo. I actually purchased that Vangoa Banjo you have. (They did not give me it for free) haha. But it’s a start. I am learning though. But I think at a slow pace. Good luck on reaching your next milestone. and like others have said I enjoy your positive outlook and cheery vibes.
While I enjoy bluegrass music- I am learning to be a fan of claw-hammer style. Thank you for this insight into the different styles of playing banjo. I enjoy learning with you. 🎉
I read music but it is easier for me to learn by ear. I suggest that you learn to play in every key. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Claw hammer is good to know, but you should study as many different techniques as you can. The more versatile you are, the easier it will be for you to get work. I also love Sam Cook. Just remember to put your heart and soul into everything you do and you will be loved by all. Well actually you can't please everyone. But you can do what needs to be done. You are a good person. Don't ever give up.
Awesome news, you are very entertaining and talented . Your positive attitude toward the banjo inspires me to keep trying to improve. It's priceless. Thank you.
Congrats on 10k! I stumbled across your channel because I picked up the banjo this past year (a childhood dream and also because I do 1890s lumberjack reenacting). I love your vibe and you inspire me to keep practicing. My big goal right now is to learn The Great Remember (2/3rds there!) and I come back to your renditions of it often. So grateful that you exist on RUclips. Thank you!
Great vibes. Thanks for sharing. So refreshing to see a kind and real person once again. Been a long time. keep being you, and doing your thang. You are awesome!!!
Sam Cooke! Arguably the best soul singer of all time although there are many many greats. I was listening to him just this morning to put me in a good mood. Funny story, I spent a couple seasons working in the kitchen at a residential retreat center in the Hudson Valley in Upstate New York, and I brought my Sam Cooke CD in and we played it in the kitchen on repeat so much that the female sous chef got sick of it, but me and my buddy Ron (the only black guy in the community at the time) loved it so much we just kept on playing it. She even went as far as to take the CD and hide it from us one morning, and I knew what she was doing because I had done the same with a House of Pain CD that was in heavy rotation the previous season. Not to be deterred I just plugged my iPhone into the aux cable and played the whole album anyhow. When the sous chef came in from her break and heard it playing she was perplexed, and finally she asked, “Wait a minute, how is this playing?” I turned and looked up at her and said, “Spotify my dear,” and the whole kitchen erupted into laughter.
Onwards! Should negative comments appear, just play banjo until you can't hear them. I think that's how it works.
If anyone doesn’t like this they have something wrong with them. Phoebe is brilliant and talented. What’s not to like?
Love your exuberant spirit and love for the banjo! Breath of fresh air in this messed up world!
I think that the reason you get such nice comments is that, rather than creating a web personality, what we see seems to be the real Phoebe Sanders which is really refreshing.
The first album I ever bought was The Best of Marcel Marceau. What a sucker I was.
This is very true. Eventually you will reach others who do understand normal people.
"I found a banjo in my attic" omg this is like something out of Narnia, I love it.
Believe it or not, I found an accordion in the basement of a house I once lived in. The bellows were a little ratty, but it worked.
Sam Cooke!?! AMAZING!!
In Narnia each banjo has it's own attic.

Wow!! Never heard that quote but it is BRILLIANT!!
God bless you, young lady. You must do your parents proud!
I am a new listener, 79-year-old, and just love your "sparky" personality. I play guitar, no lessons, by ear. Thanks Phoebe.
You, my lady, are an artiste!
No mean comments? Let me try to be the first...
I absolutely HATE IT when your videos end!
Had enough? Well there's more where that came from ;)
Keep on keepin' on Miss Phoebe!
😂 hear hear
Never stop being you Phoebe, congratulations on the well-deserved 10K. We all need more banjo!
Your personality shines through in your videos. Your style of presenting will bring many fans - that should not surprise you. Your banjo playing - well - I'm close to 70 and - well heck your my favorite player!! Your hammer lightens my day, Thank You.

This woman, her banjos, her chickens and absolute energy, thank You Phoebe!

You deserve ten-million! We love and appreciate you, kiddo! The biggest congratulations and I'll be waiting for Banjie Jean!
Quite a newbie to this channel but very pleased you made the "10k" mark - you are a wonderful player and loving forward to hearing you do your thang.
I found a dead mouse in my attic, but he was in unplayable condition! Seriously, you do a wonderful job not only on banjo, but of engaging your viewers, which is why you will go far. I look forward to your videos more than anyone else I can think of on RUclips.
I’ll be 74 years old in May, and I must say you have a delightful personality. God Bless
Congratulations! Thank you for the fun video, and I'm looking forward to you getting to meet Mr. Steve Martin someday 🙂
So glad you got the inspiration, music is medicinal and you bring us a dose on the regular.
Shalom in Him

Well then, a fellow wisp player…I am going to have to spread the word about you. I hope that 100,000 is just around the corner.😊
Keep doing what you're doing and sharing that wonderful energy, and your following will do nothing but grow!
Great Q and A and just enjoy your music. Very interesting.
just found your channel today but it was the final push to have me go out and buy my first Banjo today. so thanks for that!

I was taught violin using the Suzuki method. Learning by ear is just so intuitive.
Congrats on making it to 10K Phoebe! Yay for you!!! Love the hat and jacket too!
Congratulations Phoebe on 10k followers. A young girl with an old soul that plays claw hammer banjo. No wonder we love you so much. You can't get much better than Tommy Jarrell and Fred Cockerham for inspiration.
Thumbs up.. you bring your joy for the music to your playing that draws people in.
Look at you go! You'll have that silver button on the wall before you know it.
Awesome! Congratulations Phoebe!

What I want to know is - who put the banjo in the attic and why?
I decided I’m getting myself a Banjo, what do you personally recommend between 200$-1000$ budget, you have inspired me to get my own!!
Honesty. Beauty. Personality. Musicality. You have them all.
Thank you
Hard to decide which I enjoy more... The banjo or hearing you speak. You are a rare critter. Just subscribed. Nore please!
Pansy and Zade say hi! Love the video!
Totally recommend to focus on one instrument at first and get good at it, and then branch out.

Well, I’ve enjoyed this RUclips channel. I hope you have another one and don’t forget that song, John Hardy it’s a good one.
