maybe its the nostalgic, environment, crowd and other factors. the place i live have a kinda rude waitress but we like to go there and laugh bout it. we do end up being close fren with the waitress. haha
I *knew* that it was the Australia Diary Company when I saw your title. I was there 4 years ago and I gotta admit that the service was quite gruff. But the eggs...the scrambled eggs were the freaking best in the world! The best!!!!!
i'm from hong kong and i literally never go to local restaurants alone cus i'm scared of the service i get my friends to order for me HAHAHA but i love watching your videos it makes me feel so hungry hehehe
I feel like we are getting to know Taylor beyond her silly side we’re seeing her vulnerable and learning side in a new place. I love this Taylor ❤️ you make me want to travel and I think you’re a great example as to how to act in a new environment.
When i was in hong kong, i went to australia dairy almost everyday because i looove their scramble egg, and in my experience the staff was never rude, they are in fact quite friendly, but yea theres a lot of people there so the staff always seems busy, i think most of the time that's why people said they're rude
epohwen you think they’re rude? That’s just the service. Fast and efficient. They aren’t working for tips. Food is quick, cheap and tasty. Grow some thicker skin, pansy.
i love u taylor lmao your face at the pineapple thing.... y'all two vibe really well together!! and I love the foodie talk from Ysa, she's really good at discussing each meal
My friend got her order thrown very violently on the table when she accidentally spoke Mandarin to the waiter/waitress at Australia Diary... She's in the F&B industry, so she was very shocked (and traumatised) by how she's treated there😥
"Pineapple bun is the Hong Kong version of the Japanese melon pan (which doesn't has any melon either 😂)". Not many is aware of this fact is orginated from Japan. I get to know when a chef comments the same.
Here in the philippines the congee is called "Lugaw" most of our dishes are very much influenced by chinese because of the trading thing. and most chinese now put business here. the taste are also on the sweeter side. but we also love savory flavor.
I'm Chinese and congee (jook) is my comfort food. I once tried the congee at a Philippine breakfast place in the US and I love the way they served it. It was made with chicken stock instead of plain water with pieces of chicken and chicken fat. Very yummy!
I'm from hk and moved to the state since I was little, but thanks for making this video, I find it very please to watch and you girls are amazing to explain in such details for food and the lifestyle and the culture in hk! This video definitely deserve more views and keep up the amazing work!!! Thanks girls!! 😍👏✨
Can we just stop for a moment and appreciate taytay's pro editting skills and production here... plus the hosting skills... all done by just taytay.... lovin the progress!
I went to Australia Dairy last year expecting to receive bad service but hey, I got really good service (& great food of course!) while I was there! Very much to my surprise as well :) The waiters joked with me and we even took a picture together. I loved the whole experience so much that I came back one last time before I left Hong Kong and strangely enough, the waiters recognised me and joked around with me again. I guess maybe they get stressed and get on with "work mode" especially when there is a long line outside! Hopefully everyone else who is going to patronise the cafe will receive an equally welcoming experience as I did :)
As a local I heard about it. They value their efficiency and expect you to sit down, order your meal and drink, finish your meal and pay within 10-15 minutes. It's also extremely crowded with just enouh space for 1 person to squeeze thru between occupied chairs. They're not afraid to swear and talk back because it's their restaurent and you're a tresspasser if they feel like it.
That conjee looks really delicious! We have an equivalent in Brazil but it's always made with chicken thighs inside, and we also like to add a bit of spearmint to help with congestion and also with digestion. I love it!! I'm really loving this series, it makes me want to fly to Hong Kong and actually get to know the place
I remember when I was in Hong Kong for a week during my study abroad and I remember that there mostly seemed to just be restaurants and very few convenient stores which had food for a regular meal. Like they seemed to mainly just have snacks. Although I think I just felt that way because we had just came from visiting Japan which had like a million pre-made food options. But omg I miss Hong Kong too! There was a street that we found that every single shop on the street was some type of pet store or pet supplies store and there were so many cute animals
At Australia Dairy, the food is just ordinary. It's the experience that's memorable, especially the rude staff who take your order really quickly, and then shoo you away as soon as you're finished. In fact, as you're finishing your food, they usher in the next customers to your table to make you realize it's time to go. 🤣
Is there going to be a vegan episode also? east asian countries tend to be challenging destinations when it comes to eating plant-based, so i'm sure it would be useful!
Olivia Clement i can eat that every day, i know the waiters are very rude, still so? I love the thick toast too. The scrambled eggs are so sweet n smooth.
I've been to several "strict" restaurants here in California. As long as you follow the rules, you're good. The food and price is usually worth following the rules. What's particularly fun, is watching the banned people try to apologize to get in again, or when you bring a new person, and they still don't believe they should follow the rules. Hilarity ensues. Another good ep. Taylor.
Well, it's not just a California thing mind you, but near where I live there used to be a cafe, a favorite among the Sony Pictures staff--line to get in and all that. Rules were something like: 1. You sit where we put you, don't ask to sit somewhere, 2. When your server gets to your table, orders are taken clockwise around the table from that point, 3. Eat everything or you're charged extra. 4. Don't break the rules, or we'll throw you out, we have other people waiting. It was a VERY busy place, and the food was always great. It was a fast turn around business, so you went in, ate, and left. There was no sitting there doing your work on a laptop, taking up space for a day while sipping only a single cup of coffee. And they would tell you to your face when you were breaking the rules. Now some people would say, that that's rude, while the business would say, you're preventing us from making money, telling us how to do things, and preventing us from being able to serve everyone in line outside. Now why did people go there? Food was good, service was timely, and despite it being always full all morning through late lunchtime, you could still get in on your lunch hour and have time to spare, because "the rules" kept things moving smoothly. Also note, while staff wasn't mean, they weren't their to be your best buddy either. Their rules were setup for getting everyone who wanted in to eat, in to eat. Not a person thrown out who didn't deserve it. Of course that's the more extreme type of "strict" restaurant, but I hope that answers the question. Think of it this way... a non-strict restaurant may have a sign: "If you're on your cellphone, you will be ignored," or, "Use your cellphone outside, or be gone." The strict restaurant will ignore 100% of the time or in the latter case, kick you out and ask you to not come back, ever.
Shannan Cromie right!. It was so different and big portions and heavy for such healthy looking ppl with thin bodies and hectic life. I would never be able to function well if I eat such a meal.
They forgot the french toast Hong Kong style.. so good. Lets dont forget that Hong Kong had a lot of Influence from Great Britain. We have special drink that called ying yang bascially. Its coffee and black tea mixed with cream and very sweet. You have it hot or ice cold. Taste awesome.
Tay your stare at the food is so funny 😂. But I feel you so much, I also can't eat any wheat/gluten. So even if overall I don't miss it at all or am actually happy having to dumb all these unhealthy options, there are times when I would love just to try to know how it tastes 😆. And I love this series. I wish you would have done this in Japan!!!!!
I am not sure if anyone mentioned this already. The soup in the ham & macaroni is made from 1-2 tablespoon of Campbell cream of chicken soup and 1 quart of Swanson chicken broth.
@Taylor...Pls come to Cebu, Philippines and enjoy the local cuisine. Cebu is famous for its delectable lechon that international celebrity chef, Anthony Bourdain, claimed as the 'best in the world'. Cebu has 5 major lechon houses that vie to be Cebu's best. Discover more local food in Cebu and you'll surely enjoy it here. You can explore Cebu island for its beautiful beaches and waterfalls in between your food adventure. Cebu is just a short hop from Hong Kong with daily flights. BTW, your videos are all professionally done. How did you do that?
Hi Taylor :) I have food allergies and notice you don't actually eat the gluten foods. Would love if you could hunt down and show gluten free places in hong kong too! I could possibly be living there for short periods of time in the future so would love to see the options available :D
Congee is the best! It’s simple but you can easily change taste and add texture with lots of bean sprouts or herbs/leaves. My husband’s family put roasted minced garlic or crushed peanuts sometimes. Sooo yummy 🤤
Fasting is something you do over a longer period of time. Ramadan isn't fasting, it's not eating for 17 hours and then stuffing yourself like pigs. That is NOT fasting by any definition, sorry.
phangirlable nope you’re wrong sweetie. Fasting is the willing abstinence or reduction from some or all food, drink, or both, for a period of time. So basically Ramadan is fasting but for religious reasons.
Nope, not eating for only 17 hours and then eating like pigs every night isn't fasting. XD It's however the epitome of religious hypocrisy. It's high profile virtue signalling.
That is incorrect. You don't need it, but it does contain lots of energy and protein that humans can use well. But again, don't actually need it to function well.
i love ADC! when i went a couple of years ago, instagram was kinda like blowing up for foodies and i remember the servers calling the diners "chee-sin" (crazy) for spending so much time taking pics haha! i don't mind the attitude, it adds to the experience.
That first restaurant is either trying to rebuild a better reputation or they were nice because of camera and/or your nice cute face. It'll be like yelling at a kitten 😂 . I sure do feel bad whenever I leave a criticizing comment to you. But hey, as a true fan, I have to give my honest opinion even it'll make a kitten cry 😅😂😂😂
Lol but at the beginning they threw the menu at her. Notice how all the drinks spilled out from the side. That's not acceptable from Hong Kong standards.
I think it would be nice to add a vegan place or a very tasty vegan choice in your videos ? A lot of people began to follow you when you did vegan recipes. Anyways, good video as always !
Congee seems like one of those, "love it/hate it" kind of foods. I'm a huge fan of rice, so I'd likely love it. Especially with interesting add-ins. Nice series, Tay!
I watched your video in the middle of the night and now i m hungry for breakfast, shame on you 😂 nice one, really want to visit hong kong now even if just to walk around and taste the food
The more rude the service is, the better the food taste. Thats how Asia works. lol
jim kai yiat only when its full of people. But I sometime think to myself why some restaurants are packed when the food is not that tasty…
maybe its the nostalgic, environment, crowd and other factors. the place i live have a kinda rude waitress but we like to go there and laugh bout it. we do end up being close fren with the waitress. haha
Asian rests in the States and Canada are no different. Especially those mom and pop shops as well as Holes In The Wall type. :-)
totally agree!
Here in Israel too 😂😂😂😂
I *knew* that it was the Australia Diary Company when I saw your title. I was there 4 years ago and I gotta admit that the service was quite gruff. But the eggs...the scrambled eggs were the freaking best in the world! The best!!!!!
Australia Dairy something... I went there 2 months and it's just not good. Not worth the wait.
There scramble eggs are just average, you can get the same at almost every restaurant there

Taylor, you didnt get rude service cuz you're a hot foreigner hahaha. And your crew had a camera that might have helped a tiny bit
Patrick Yee I’ve been there, they definitely treat girls better, especially if they’re pretty.
The waiter even pulled away the chair when I stood up all gentleman-like and told me bye bye. But maybe cause I’m a foreigner that speaks Cantonese 😂
You must be beautiful lol
She is pretty! That’s the reason 🤣🤣🤣
It's not. I'm Asian and they were super nice to me too.

Eva Farida i was like being abused everytime i ate there. Maybe they have changed their iconic service attitude. The food was so good.
Australian Diary restaurant in my black list anyway !
Me too! Their service is the worst and they are really VERY rude!
Especially for maid.will very rude
epohwen you think they’re rude? That’s just the service. Fast and efficient. They aren’t working for tips. Food is quick, cheap and tasty. Grow some thicker skin, pansy.

Pineapple bun is the Hong Kong version of the Japanese melon pan (which doesn't has any melon either 😂). The names are just for their appearance.
and there's no pineapple flavoring whatsoever
Logan
Most of the Japanese melon pan has no melon flavouring either but i think a few do (very rare).
I thought its called rocky bun instead of pineapple bun in Hong Kong
It's pineapple bun, I'm sure as I'm from Hong Kong:)

Asia LOVES meat. I think it has to do with the fact they couldn't eat that much eat before the Economic boom in the late 20th century.
