Just bear in mind that it is not a leisure cafeteria. It is a small dining place for "grass roots" so they do not speak in delicated way. At the same time it is also crowded with lots of hot drinks and dishes circulating back and forth. So it is also a risky place. Hence the staffs there naturally speak in more forceful ways. But they generally are not rude or hostile to customers. They want customers to settle down quickly so they can make money faster (of course) and safer. LOL.. I think the sense of rudeness that most tourist or foreigners get is simply because they are trying to compare it to restaurants in the western world... In most asian cafe's or restaurants the service is usually quick and abrupt and its all about just eat your food and get out of here to make room for the next customer..🤣🤣🤣
I'm from Singapore. I disagree. 3x to hk. Similar price point restaurants in Singapore you don't get those level rudeness. They might not have service with a smile but seldom scold customers

I’m from Malaysia and the restaurants here don’t behave that way. Even in Chinese restaurants, the waiters are usually significantly more polite. That being said, I think many restaurants in HK has improved in their customer service
Another gem. Kudos for navigating through this spinning, mad carousel just to break bread, Sam. My heart rate shot up to 200 after watching the segment. Long queues, hurried meals and table sharing are some of the norms of HK dining culture I would rather not experience if I could avoid it. I am surprised they even let you openly film in there at all. 😊
Thanks as always for watching and commenting, John! Glad you enjoyed this, despite the increased heart rate 😜 I was t sure they would allow filming, but luckily for us, they were OK with it!
Whenever I am in HK, I make effort to visit this cafe. I have noticed that they are more polite nowadays although I never expected 5 star service, just want some cheap and cheerful food. The queue usually takes less time than it looks due to fast turnover of customers. Must try the HK style milk tea and ham + egg sandwich (not toasted coz the white bread is heavenly soft, toasted is just as yummy tho). They have steamed egg desserts, served hot or cold. Be prepared you have to share tables with strangers, but hey I chitchatted with the others last time. Good fun!
I went to the cafe last week. It's not their attitude; it's just that there was a line of people who wanted to try the place, and the staff urged the customers to order quickly and make room for the next customers. By the way, the food and drinks were amazing.
@@HongKongHoods I look forward to returning shortly on the next trip. By the way, please keep up the great work. Your videos are essential to the viewers, and I can't wait for your following videos.
Not sure if rude/terrible is a way to describe their service. I understand their language and to maintain efficiency in getting everyone served and operating in a fast paced enviornment, their service is more curt and to the point. Get things done fast and customers get food. Compared to North america, we can't get such efficiency even in a fast food restaurant.
I have school in Hong Kong island, and we only have an hour of lunch time I heard that one of my friends take a bus all the way to Jordan and eat at Australia dairy company almost every day I personally, as a Hongkonger have never eaten there before, and I really want to try it once, but whenever I suggested we eat there when deciding what to eat with my family, they say “ah cha chaan teng is boring” I hope I can go there one day
The food here is very good. One thing tourists must know before you eat here is that you must decide quickly what you want to eat before calling the waiter for orders. They are impatience waiting for your orders as the cafe is crowded with quick turn over.
Great video as always! I think I would prefer a more relaxed atmosphere but definitely worth a visit for the scrambled egg and milk tea, a real Hong Kong experience. Thanks Sam.
I’ve heard others say that they were ruder before the pandemic- and it makes sense if now they are being nicer as there’s more need to keep customers coming back! Thanks for watching.
Yeah, I’d recommend to decide on what you’re going to have before entering the establishment and you’re going to be OK. You’re still not going to get service with a smile but at least you won’t get shouted at in your face 😆 But rude service aside, I always enjoy going to _cha chaan teng_ in Hong Kong, I wish I could go again soon. Cheers from Indonesia! 🍻
Yea. "Just so busy". Enjoy asking anything about the food on the menu, you will literally get rudely replied "cant you even read yourself?" In harsh way. Though my experience is not the milk restaurant, its the first restaurant in the intro
Absolutely another spectacular beautiful shooting filming footage compilation documentary street food travel blog and you nailed it again, gorgeous filming edition settings presentation and the filming camera work looks super awesome super sharp and clear and I really appreciate and enjoy watching your lifestyle documentary video channel, keep it up and best regards from Montreal QC Canada
Where abouts did you move? Yeah, unless you’re in central London it’s going to feel a lot quieter in the UK - and even then, you won’t find that sort of vibe there … for better or for worse!
As a local, I once brought my foreign Mexican family to here and the staff is super caring to them by joking and translating. I think the service is very nice
They only seem rude when customers asks "can i sit elsewhere". For smooth process, u sit where u r told to sit (share table). Order the food, finish food then order drink (cos table is too small to hold everything). And when u r ready to pay, u just raise ur hand n gesture to a staff & u get a paper with the amt u need to pay at the till at the entrance.
Thank you for your take on the food at this place. Felt v stressed even from just watching. To me, I would just go for those fluffy scrambled eggs with toast and a HongKong tea. 😆😋🤩
@@HongKongHoods You r likely right. Even if it means being uber masochistic for being barked at by the wait staff. Lol. 😜🤪 And doubtless this place is raking in big bucks.
There’s a two-person table which is surrounded by three walls (in front, behind, and on the right), I don’t know if you noticed but its quite an experience sitting there
good to see another vid from 'naughty' Sam. I always wondered about ADC, just didnt look inviting for me (and i am sure they had another branch years ago). There is a shop @ 2:36 that must do okay from the passing queue ;)
Good to see u enjoy the meal so much in here. Not sure if you even try one special drink called “in-young” like half milk tea half coffee. It’s so good to try as well.
The power of social media, when i first went there it wasn't busy and it was their milk pudding that people went for because you don't get that in many places. It's also better hot and with ginger.
I'm a Hongkonger. Such restuarants or cafe teach and remind Hong Kong people to be humble, grateful and fast. These attirudes keep Hong Kong community law-abiding, vibrant and bussinesslike.
Another wonderful & entertaining episode! This was certainly no Michelin star place at least in terms of their serveware/tableware. Spotted at least 2 of the bowls were chipped. lol. I know that some friends do take issue with this as fully paying patrons of an eatery.
We have a lot of old style hong kong style restaurants here in Sydney. So I feel there is a connection. Sadly many of them are no longer around. There is one I go to in my area that does the Hong Kong breakfast. My fave is the scrambled egg and corn beef with milk tea and a sweet cake. Hong Kong yum cha is really good here too.
Thank you, Sam, for another great video. We visit Hong Kong from New York City every few years to visit relatives and eat the great food, but we have never tried this place even though we've heard about it, especially for their famous milk pudding. The long lines always deter us from giving this place a try. Personally, I think most cha chaan teng are about the same, serve the same type of food and with the same terrible service.
That’s pretty accurate about cha chaan teng having the same style of service! I u destined about the line here, but on our visit it went down remarkably quickly- we were in within 10 minutes! Thanks for watching!
@@putianren of course I have! I live here for the past 40 years. Been in all sorts eateries, especially cha chaan teng and dai pai dongs all over HK and NT. If you think that’s rude then you’re in for a real rude awakening. Enjoy your 🧋 😂
Well I’ve once seen the waiter yell “put your hand down!” (In Cantonese of course) to someone who was ready to order. Even tho the waiter wasn’t swearing but it felt like he did by the rhythm or the tone. What a masterful delivery of the phrase.
Hey Sam. Given that this restaurant is so busy and lot of people waiting in queue. The staff look to be in hurry and that is so obvious. The food, tea and the dessert were good to see and if either the food was not tasty or the staff was treating the customers badly then there would not be much people visiting this place. Thank you Sam and Vienne for debunking the false information. Cheers 🥂
Thanks as always Satish for commenting and watching- highly recommend this place for when you make it to Hong Kong! The speed, as you say, is just a part of the service!
I found it very interesting. They’re quick in getting you a seat, taking your order and passing you your food. I think it’s their style. I don’t consider them as rude.
They are always efficient and caring. They offered priority service to my pregnant wife when we were lining up outside and picked a seat with extra space for us, we were so appreciated for their service.
I love this restaurant so much...my parents used to bring us here on Sunday before going to church! Thats long time ago, its in 80s...the restaurant is now much bigger than before..whenever I passed by Jordan, I would visit there..lots of memories to me. However, their prices are going up every year..thanks for sharing this, I will definitely visit again when I back to HK sonner😂
Thanks for watching, and for sharing your childhood memories. Hope this video brought back some of them. It's still very much alive and kicking, and waiting for you to visit again!
There already many food travelers been to that place and tried out those delicious breakfast that Sam ordered. For me personally, once I enjoy eating its meals I can care less about the service. And for those haven't been there yet, should already checked out the menu before hand and know what to order because can't afford to take too much time thinking and deciding once being seated there. I think I may go there by myself since seating one person is much easier in a long line. Since Australia Dairy Company haven been popular for a long time, the owner could have renovated the cafe to larger space to accommodate more people. I knew Jordan in Kowloon is not spacious. At least they could expand another cafe location or two in other part of HK in my opinion.
This cafe staff are super efficient. The way they sit customers at tables were like doing jigsaw puzzles. Long queue move rather quickly. Food consistently very good. 😊
Yes, but here they ask you to order what you want for your food first, and then what you want as the drink later- it’s just the way they work. Thanks for watching!
I don't think that white people would understand that nobody has that much time to talk and think while ordering in most big cities in Asia, especially in Hong Kong. Hong Kong culture is a culture of speed and efficiency that doesn't tolerate nonsensical things
I enjoyed my Hong Kong style breakfast. It was a quick service but they knew what to do with foreigners. Even we had a chat with the owner of the restaurant. Want to visit HK again ❤
I like how the waitress was impressed with him trying to order in Cantonese. I don't think it's rudeness per se, in that the staff are not being that way to insult you. They are super busy and have no time to stop, chat or faff around so they present that abruptness to keep the whole operation running smoothly. To the best of my experiences, people from Hong Kong are generally very welcoming and friendly.
Just reminds me of what's HK like, the place where I had tons of wonderful childhood memories ❤❤❤ This is just how HK operates. Not rude but fast and efficient. If one speaks & understands canto, you will find such incidents exciting and funny.
As a Hong Konger its important that you dont get in the way of other's business in Hong Kong when you get in to older school restaurants, they dont care about how you feel today unless you are a long time customer. so get what you, want eat what you want then leave is what they expect you to do
Last time I was screamed at for putting my bag on the chair next to me. ( I just finished class, there's no where else to place it ).. The waiter followed by saying "What type of werid person does this! Hong Kong has all sorts of weridos" ... Eating there makes me nervous, things are fast pace and you need to get your order across with a snap of a finger. It is not for me :/
Maybe they sold that video online ? Have you tried looking ? I found mine, onto some guy's online music video ! I thought that was quite cute.... and he moved it to close to the CCTV cameras well... and I thought that the "internet filming" thing, was a done thing in the 1980s.. but now, it is social media.. etc etc. Snoopy snoop snoop.. and then resell your dirts online. In a name and shame.. and then take insurance money, or to move business revenues, or sales or whatever... Movers and shakers, eh ?....
This place is a “must“ stop when I am in Hong Kong. As I am a slow eater, is stressful to eat here because they want to turn the tables fast. But I enjoy the food, especially the steam milk so I try to eat as fast as I can when I’m there. People are not rude I found, but they do rush you a bit.
I went there 5 days ago. Actually they are quite nice when it’s less busy. But the prices are ridiculously expensive when compared to other restaurants serving the same food.
Oh yes the breakfast sets are actually worth it for the value- but only the breakfast sets. We went around 4ish in the afternoon and we had to order all the items individually.
I grew up with this restaurant before you’re born. I can’t believe it’s on YT “review” absolute amazing! Btw Bruce Lee grew up in that neighborhood too. We went to the same school there! Have fun!
I was in HK last May and stayed at the Eton Hotel, so I went there twice and brought back egg custards to share with friends.....personally dont like to eat in such a rush/tight space.....thank you for sharing!
They are lots of fine dining restaurants in HK. Relax, excellent harbor views and service. They even provide different brands of cutlery for you to choose. I will strongly recommend you to try. By the way, Eaton HK. Is not even a 3 stars resting hotel.
@@HongKongHoodsEaton is a convenient location for me. I had eaten wonton noodles on the same street with shared tables, I do like their milk and egg custards, the best!
Am I the only one wishing that they stay the way they are? Rude, snappy or whatever you call it, it's the soul of HK char chan teng. Imagine the waiter starts thanking customers and asking, "would you like some fries"... That's like being possesed by McDonald's.
I donno what's so hype about these HK ice house restaurants, they are everywhere, look at the kitchen where they stock up Campbell soups, Del Monte creamy corn, Ovaltine & Horlicks. These food bank items u can find at the supermarket. Maybe u can find more delicacy at the local 7-11, such as curry fishball, tea eggs & shumai.
Interesting for timing the order, 12 seconds that is insane. Some people like me as a local do enjoy getting scold and wanted to be scolded by this place. One time I went there when I was pregnant and wanted to get scolded for a bit but they saw I was pregnant and told others off to get out of the way. I remembered that experience so dearly as I didn't get the scolding I was looking for and they treated pregnant woman very kind. I'm sad to see those internet armies making terrible comments on their mainland platform about all our restaurants and trying to influence what we have. The mainlanders are asking for 5 5-star hotel service in Cha CanTing.
I ate there few years ago and when I sit down not looking at the menu yet they started pushing me to order saying it's only few choices no need to think that long!
The other side of rudeness is probably because of fussy customers, time waster who spend little money but take their own sweet time picking and choosing, a waste of time serving these people for cheap restaurants like this and time is money in HK. If you are not rude you can't do business and make a profit.
Canadian Chinese from BC here, this is what efficient service is for the quick in and out dining experience. Not really rude at all, and you always know it's going to be good when it's cash only. Just reminds me of a few spots in Richmond, Burnaby and Vancouver.
It is a basic eatery and as I recall the waiters didn't mind serving me dishes I pointed out at nearby tables. The staff talked loud. But that is normal. Also there was a neat pastrami restaurant not far away.
In Hong Kong, when I get elbow, it tend to be older woman. I a teenager, when I in Hong Kong, and it feel like mother hen, encourage me move at pace of street traffic. No slow down people. But I can see how people would think Hong Kong a crazy place, with no manner. It ALso this test, see if Hong Kong a pure stressor or not. In the US, I have interesting interaction, with people from Hong Kong. One time, my mom, who from Hong Kong, invite Chinese doctor, who from Hong Kong, for dinner, and I play video game and I no know her and she start getting annoy at me, just nod an say thank you, when she put plate of food next to me, at gaming computer. And finally. She put dessert down, next to me, and she just stay there. And. I no look. I just say, 'You wanna dollar?' You gonna find you communicate in different way, with someone from Hong Kong. Hong Kong a place that literally gonna teach you OR drive you crazy, never come back. This a breakfast place, really cool. Egg sandwich.
yo bro... they're actually giving you 4 seasons service. Try asking any question (i do mean singular without an S) or ordering something outside of their combos...
They are very polite and great team work. You don’t even see any of their staff playing cellphones. They are very attentive and get to you before you even ask. You don’t see that kind of services in US.
They are not rude actually, it’s their efficiency of working things, making sure the long waiting queue could be served as soon as possible, so no time for any fancy conversation or interaction. Glad you enjoy this unique HK experience, we Hong Kongers took 30 years to accustomed to it too😂

I grew up in HK and I would say there are a mix attitude in this city. Yes some are rude and impatient like in Cha Chaan Teng or some districts like in Sham Shui Po as I expererience depending on their personal background, but some are kind and tolerable towards to foreigners. There was a time I was working at Shek Mun, Sha Tin, and I went out to buy takeaway at a nearby Siu Mei Restaurant. I was ordering at a cashier who happened to be a woman, but then for some reason I forgot to place an order for a milk tea (probably I was daydreaming) and I asked her to add it, and she rudely yelled at me for wasting her time even the whole restaurant can here her! I mean it's such a small thing, what's the big deal to her? Everyone make mistakes.
Many HK Chinese said please don’t expect good service inside tea set restaurants as you are usually not required to pay 10% service charge. I can say it is a crazy ideology. But for this “Australian Cow Milk”, the service is much improved. You can eat at a lower pace. No rush.
I have heard others say that the service has improved here, and I can believe it- it's really not that bad...curt but not exactly "rude! Thanks for watching!
The place is so busy, so they must be doing something right. That said, the foods are old school, white bread for example, so not enough roughage particularly for breakfast.

Was wandering past a few weeks ago filming an episode about Yau Ma Tei. Nice to actually see what the long line was for now! Great content!
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
Great to hear you enjoyed it there! Totally agreed; certainly not rude for the sake of it, just trying to feed the people!
I have school in Hong Kong island, and we only have an hour of lunch time
I heard that one of my friends take a bus all the way to Jordan and eat at Australia dairy company almost every day
I personally, as a Hongkonger have never eaten there before, and I really want to try it once, but whenever I suggested we eat there when deciding what to eat with my family, they say “ah cha chaan teng is boring”
I hope I can go there one day
I m a local... My son doesn't like cha chan tang until trying this
@@SimyWong-x4f I myself eat at a place called Gold Garden Cafe (金園茶餐廳) sometimes, and I really like their food and egg tarts
The food here is very good. One thing tourists must know before you eat here is that you must decide quickly what you want to eat before calling the waiter for orders. They are impatience waiting for your orders as the cafe is crowded with quick turn over.
Agreed! Good point!
Great video as always! I think I would prefer a more relaxed atmosphere but definitely worth a visit for the scrambled egg and milk tea, a real Hong Kong experience. Thanks Sam.
Definitely recommend it Davy, although, no, certainly not the most relaxing of dining experiences!
The eggs are the high-light for me at this cafe. Considering how busy the place is, I never found the waiters rude at all.
The eggs are amazing aren’t they!? Very fast service, but not super rude.
They are not as rude as the pre-pandemic era. Also, I happen to enjoy some of the foreigner-previliege of their hospitality.
That’s a great and essential tip, especially for this place! Agreed that cha chaan teng are awesome… if you can stomach the curt service. Cheers!
@@HongKongHoods yeah maybe go every other breakfast so you could recover in between 😂
Haha both physically and mentally!@@KilanEatsandDrinks
Great video as always Sam! You showed how awesome this place is, I would love to come here!
Thanks for watching- highly recommend it!
They are just so busy and have to be effective for the whole operation to run smoothly. The best scramble eggs ever!!!! I want some now
Agreed. Speed is the key! And the eggs are yummy!
Thank you for the kind words as always, and very glad you enjoyed this episode- highly recommend this cafe!
Great video! Moved to the UK last September and missing this sorta vibe in restaurants. It's so quiet here lol
Where abouts did you move? Yeah, unless you’re in central London it’s going to feel a lot quieter in the UK - and even then, you won’t find that sort of vibe there … for better or for worse!
@@HongKongHoods yeah I live like 3-4 hours from central london
@@chanaaden8310 Yep, that sounds about the same as where I'm from in the UK!
Agreed- good summary!
Thank you for your take on the food at this place. Felt v stressed even from just
watching. To me, I would just go for those fluffy scrambled eggs with toast and a HongKong tea. 😆😋🤩
Haha glad we got the element of stress over in the video! Yes, the eggs and the tea cannot be beat!
@@HongKongHoods You r likely right. Even if it means being uber masochistic for being barked at by the wait staff. Lol. 😜🤪 And doubtless this place is raking in big bucks.
I would imagine it is given the amount of customers@@sandychan480
There’s a two-person table which is surrounded by three walls (in front, behind, and on the right), I don’t know if you noticed but its quite an experience sitting there
good to see another vid from 'naughty' Sam. I always wondered about ADC, just didnt look inviting for me (and i am sure they had another branch years ago). There is a shop @ 2:36 that must do okay from the passing queue ;)
Recommend it, don't be shy! Yes, that shop has a captive audience!
Would ibe interesting to see how much busier they have gotten over the years!
Where was there terrible service??!!
Thanks for watching! Yes,not Michelin star at all- and I can imagine chipped crockery here!
Read how much the prices are first.
Really a nice Video💕... That place is overcrowded; as long as you get delicious food, everything'll be comprehensable.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you very much Sam👍🏻I love your videos very much, thanks for sharing the local foods for us.I will support at all👍🏻😊👍🏻
Thank you for the kind words- and I’m very happy that you’re enjoying our videos! 😊💪👍 more coming soon!
Thanks for watching!
great contents as always. Bravo!
Thank you as always!
They’re not rude at all. It’s a busy service so they want things to move along. Definitely not the Four Seasons but efficient. 😊
True!!
I wouldn't say not rude at all, but certainly not as bad as some online reviews make out!
Not rude ??
You must be joking.
Been to an eatery place owned by Hong Kong people ??
Give it a try !!
Efficient = Rudeness !!
@@putianren of course I have! I live here for the past 40 years. Been in all sorts eateries, especially cha chaan teng and dai pai dongs all over HK and NT. If you think that’s rude then you’re in for a real rude awakening. Enjoy your 🧋 😂
They are rude.. Personal experience.
Well I’ve once seen the waiter yell “put your hand down!” (In Cantonese of course) to someone who was ready to order. Even tho the waiter wasn’t swearing but it felt like he did by the rhythm or the tone. What a masterful delivery of the phrase.
the more rude, the more delicious their food are
Great watch! I’m coming back to HK next year, so I’ll to try them. I have 2 kids though… so we’ll see how we manage to navigate that place 😅
Depends on how old they are- but if they thrive on chaos they’ll love it 🤣
Just do your homework and know what to do order beforehand. Sit down and tell them what you want and you will be fine😂
I half expected them to tell you to stop talking and eat. 🤣 I haven't been back to HK in so long, this place would give me so much anxiety.
They actually did comment in Cantonese (we overhead them)- saying something like "he has been filming for ages now" haha
Also th prices is so cheap thats why its hustle.. only way to keep things so cheap is you need a lot of customers. So understanable
True, if prices are cheap, service must be quick to get more customers at tables!
Thanks for watching, and yes- I agree that they might do well if they expand!
This cafe staff are super efficient. The way they sit customers at tables were like doing jigsaw puzzles. Long queue move rather quickly. Food consistently very good. 😊
"Bring cash". Pretty much rule #1 with any small Chinese restaurant here in Toronto.
Fun review Sam. Thanks as always.
Thanks for watching- I'll be sure to bring cash if/when I visit Toronto one day!
8:23 doesn’t the breakfast set come with a hot milk tea? Why u order again?
Yes, but here they ask you to order what you want for your food first, and then what you want as the drink later- it’s just the way they work. Thanks for watching!
I don't think that white people would understand that nobody has that much time to talk and think while ordering in most big cities in Asia, especially in Hong Kong. Hong Kong culture is a culture of speed and efficiency that doesn't tolerate nonsensical things
Hong Kong service is definitely unique!
I think that’s the first or second time I’ve heard you say you’re not a fan of something on this channel. Fun video, thanks Sam! - Nate
Yeah, I do like most things, but that wasn't quite there for me. Thanks for watching Nate, and hope you're doing well buddy!
Really a nice one... That place is overcrowded; as long as you get delicious food, everything'll be comprehensable.
Agreed!
Just reminds me of what's HK like, the place where I had tons of wonderful childhood memories ❤❤❤
This is just how HK operates. Not rude but fast and efficient. If one speaks & understands canto, you will find such incidents exciting and funny.
As a Hong Konger
its important that you dont get in the way of other's business in Hong Kong
when you get in to older school restaurants, they dont care about how you feel today unless you are a long time customer.
so get what you, want eat what you want then leave is what they expect you to do
Last time I was screamed at for putting my bag on the chair next to me. ( I just finished class, there's no where else to place it ).. The waiter followed by saying "What type of werid person does this! Hong Kong has all sorts of weridos" ... Eating there makes me nervous, things are fast pace and you need to get your order across with a snap of a finger. It is not for me :/
Wow- that’s a bit extreme, sorry that happened to you! And yes- this place isn’t for everyone. Thanks for watching!
Movers and shakers, eh ?....
workers are not rude. in the cantonese language, if a person is trying to be rude, he will add curse words into the sentences
Very true!
Not rude. Just don't want to be stalled by indecisive customer who make them lose business with people lining up.
Does hong kong has yelp
That City has always been like that, never seen anywhere like it. been visiting there since the eighties.
And don’t we love it for that! 🙏👍💪
Despite very busy and rush their food still look yummy!
The next cafe on the right is "Mak Man Kee Noodle Shop" - also noted by some RUclips-bloggers as the best wontons ))
Oh, nice. Thanks for the info- I didn’t know that!
The tradition started when foreigners starting eating in the resto and the waiters just wanted to relief stress by screaming at foreigners.
I went there 5 days ago. Actually they are quite nice when it’s less busy. But the prices are ridiculously expensive when compared to other restaurants serving the same food.
What time did you go? That surprises me that you found the prices high- we only went for breakfast of course, but it was very reasonable!
I love the Eaton! I understand, as it's definitely not relaxing service! Thanks for watching
Yes, all different kinds of dining options in HK!
I hope you could come to Macao one day, our Cha Chaan Teng is different, not rush and not crowded like Hong Kong ones
Oh wow- that is pretty rude! 🤣 thanks for sharing your experience!
i hope they throw an internet clown in jail 😂
good content!
better than watching people eat.
The other side of rudeness is probably because of fussy customers, time waster who spend little money but take their own sweet time picking and choosing, a waste of time serving these people for cheap restaurants like this and time is money in HK. If you are not rude you can't do business and make a profit.
This place has lines every day?
Yes, as far as I know!
謝謝!
Thank you- that's very generous, and much appreciated!
Canadian Chinese from BC here, this is what efficient service is for the quick in and out dining experience. Not really rude at all, and you always know it's going to be good when it's cash only.
Just reminds me of a few spots in Richmond, Burnaby and Vancouver.
Yup agreed as a fellow Chinese Vancouverite. These restaurants are made for quick in and out meals who need to go back to work.
It is a basic eatery and as I recall the waiters didn't mind serving me dishes I pointed out at nearby tables. The staff talked loud. But that is normal. Also there was a neat pastrami restaurant not far away.
Thanks for watching, and the pastrami tip!
多謝!
Thank you for your generosity. It is much appreciated, as always
Agreed that they're not bad here, and they are very attentive- I guess they need to be during the morning rush!
They are not rude actually, it’s their efficiency of working things, making sure the long waiting queue could be served as soon as possible, so no time for any fancy conversation or interaction. Glad you enjoy this unique HK experience, we Hong Kongers took 30 years to accustomed to it too😂
Speed is everything here! I really enjoyed the experience!

Are you going to go back to try this place ? Is this the place that is part of Winnie's great grand parents ? Do you know ?.... Before people moved to the UK. By the way, do you remember that Japanese girl that we used to know who went to Norton College ? Was... is she still around, and have you kept in touch with her as well ? I remember that she did arts as well.... and I am sure that you must also know her, since you did an arts background too, didn't you ? Similar as Oni .... Karen's.... niece.
(I know I'm late in saying this... but... I am sorry for your loss. The loss of your granma. I saw that the other time, but I didn't quite addressed it. Send my love to Ricky too.) ❤
I grew up in HK and I would say there are a mix attitude in this city.
I've tried this kind of restaurant before. Rush, Rush, eat and get out! It made me very uncomfortable. No thanks.
I like the way he asked you guys “hustle hustle” In Cantonese then “2?” 😂
Thank you for this wonderful video
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it!
As a Hongkonger, I started going there years ago when I was a teenager. Their scrambled egg and toast is the best among all the 茶餐廳.
I agree- the eggs here are divine! Great that it’s been around since you were a teenager. Hopefully the video brought back some good memories!
They are also called "Light speed" serving ... All food come out in less than 30 seconds.
That’s a great - and very apt - name for it. Thanks for watching!
Missed this place when I was there a month ago, there’s so many other CCTs in HK, not really worth lining up for.
The line goes down very quickly though, to be fair
Just Go in, order, eat and leave. No non sense service or tips required.
Agreed; this is a no service, no nonsense place!
The place is so busy, so they must be doing something right. That said, the foods are old school, white bread for example, so not enough roughage particularly for breakfast.
Certainly not heavy on roughage and fibre, but for protein and carbs, I imagine it's hard to beat! A great place that is still super popular indeed!
