I can't speak specifically here except to say you should be able to buy the specific section ticket in Shinjuku or rely on staff at the destination or a conductor on the train. @tokyocheapo  Год назад +1

It really depends on what you’d like to see. If getting a good view of Mt. Fuji is your top priority then you’ll probably have more luck at Kawaguchiko. If you’re not as fussed about Mt. Fuji and just want a nice mountain escape then Hakone is a good spot. The main thing about Hakone is there’s a lot of different transport - pirate ship, ropeway, train etc. - which can be a lot of fun but it’s quite a long, tiring day if you do all of it. Hope that helps! 😊

You can take a train from Hakone to Fuji via Hakone-Yumoto and Odawara. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Hakone to Fuji via Tomei Gotemba in around 2h 13m.

Hi - I have the JR Pass, so I assume I will have no issues going from Shinjuku station to Otsuki station, but when I need to purchase the extra ticket to get from there to Kawaguchiko station, do I buy that extra ticket from a ticket office in Otsuki? Can this be bought in advance online? Also, are seat reservations necessary on either the 1st or 2nd part of this trip? Thank you !

I have the same questions and I see no reply from two cheapo. I have 2 prices- TC 1770y surcharge vs 600y (from Otsuki) to Kawaguchiko... which is the true price?

@olivilla6960 The 600 figure is the express train surcharge. The 1770 figure is the base fare and the surcharge.
Yes, the JR Pass is valid to Otsuki, and you should be able to buy that specific ticket for beyond Otsuki at Shinjuku Station in the vicinity of the train platform.

You should be able to buy the specific ticket for beyond Otsuki at Shinjuku Station in the vicinity of the train platform. No need to leave the train at Otsuki to do this.
Seat reservation can be done at the station. Whether it's required depends on the popularity of the train at the time. I can't speak about this one because it's quite new. During the week probably OK. Weekends is a different matter.

Can I use my Suica card for the base fare and buy the super express fare ticket on JR’s website?
