Thanks for the story of Rhyolite. My 13 year old and I took a 3 week trip through the western states in 2003. I detoured into Rhyolite in the darkness. It was very eerie at night.
The construction materials were shipped in and still retained value. Bricks, intact windows, milled wood, railway lines & ties, furniture etc would hold a lot of value for resale in isolated areas.

I remember my parents taking me there as a child in the 1960s; was so fascinated that I still have memorabilia of the Bottle House.
Last time I was this early, it wasn't history, it was current

This place is used in so many movies.
I'm pretty sure the one building was used for a scene in "The Island", I would need to go back and watch it to be sure, its been a while.

Great video.
Amazing how fast the city came and went. Almost as fast as a discount retail store chain.

Out of conflicted comes change, and change is the only constant in life.
So have the refine the tailings?
So the reason it is in ruins is because it was stripped down to be used elsewhere? That's recycling!
