That inspector is a god damn disgrace!!
This man is fit to police us? He has no concept of hisrarchy or rules. How can he understand how the law applies to his interactions with any of us. It can only be an overwhelming sense of exceptionalism.
They used to teach the fact that a police officer is just and firstly a citizen and as such they firstly ,should treat us as they would want to be treated. Now its privilege, I know better than you and better still "I can seriously screw you up because POWERS" We all make mistakes that's why police "had" discretion in the prosecution, charging of minor crimes. But its now points make prizes, one upmanship.
The Inspector was talking round in invisible circles. Police met policy is clear over 'thin blue line badge'. why is it so difficult. It is almost like they do not respect the public, surely not.. We all need to challenge the police when approprite. I approaced four police at a cafe as one young female PC was using F word repeatedly in conversation with the others. Their reaction when I complained dorectly at the time, they laughed at me, my subsequent complaint to policing standards resulted in her admitting swearing in a public place and words of advice about her behaviour in future. They are not above the law, just think they are sometimes.
Not just sometimes...... all of the time.
I agree, on Jury duty I learned I was far from the only one in the group that had bad to horrible interactions with police, and again if they are in a bad mood they "badly worded ill thought out" laws CAN AND ARE used to punish non compliant citizens (The laws on public order are in my opinion "draconian" and ambiguous. particularly the swearing in public bit. Fortunately a judge decided the saying or using a swearword within a sentence is not necessarily a public order offence (Not that ever reached the ears of the Police) As they still jump on ANY use of a "profanity"

I can’t think of any other profession that displays such rudeness and gross unprofessionalism as the Met police. Nobody today can believe that when I was young the London bobby had a worldwide reputation for professionalism friendliness and courtesy. Of course there were some wrong uns but generally they were held in huge respect by the public. What went wrong?

It's a reputation that was built on PR and BS.
The police have been about this bad for ages. Possibly forever. All that's changed is the flavour of their badness.
What's changed is cameras on mobile phones. Police behaviour is now getting routinely recorded.
The true police culture has been outed.
And, it would be fair to say that there are police gangs around the world that are even worse than the Met - with this usually being down to the regime in government - eg Myanmar, North Korea, Nigeria, Russia etc

Corruption is still alive and well in the 'not fit for purpose' Police Service . . . what an embarrassment some of these officers are, who are plainly too thick for even the most mundane of tasks.
Re pass code "There is a problem here", yes there is, someone at The Police or Home Office has specified a security keypad that can be seen when in use by passers by.

Some are very respectful (auditors and photographers) and are still treated worse than criminals just for sticking up for their rights. And remember, they know they are being filmed, this is them on their best behaviour. I have seen far far worse from police when NOT being thought to be filmed.

This is why discipline within the ranks is lost. For such a simple yet polarising subject the Inspector is defending the wearing of the thin blue line gang badge in utter defiance of Sir Mark Rowley. And because the rot starts at the top, the lower ranks think it's a free for all.
