As a Halo lore master i got to say this is very good but there are a missing few details on why this all happened and that come from the precursors ultimate plan. Tho im lazy now and typing the flood war will be like writing a book
The Thing from John Carpenter's The Thing would be pretty cool. Also great job on your Flood video. 👍
Hi, i send you a request email for a video on the predator (1987) lore. would you please consider it
MR illustrated Please make a When day breaks videos on SCP 783 to SCP 6198 and SCP 428
I know you think it's stupid but I happen to think not studying the flood would have been a bad idea as well.
However containment needs to be maintained at all costs if you decide to go that route.
I still remember that mission when the Flood first came out of nowhere. When even the original villains runaway from something like that, you know it's screwed up.
Well when Chief himself was frightened for his life, you know they mean business.
God it gave me nightmares so bad I was young 5 years old me and my dad played through halo the next three nights I had dreams of the flood I remember to this Day lmao
WHAT GAME I GENUINELY WANNA PLAY IT
@@prestonreid10 Halo Combat Evolved -> Halo 2 -> Halo 3 all contain flood content

The flood jumping into a pit of lava after hijacking Mike's brain seeing all the horrible stuff he's been through
Even the monsters fear Mike’s past…
@@MR_ILLUSTRATEDyep all the times Mike has been killed and resurrected.
A single Mike can free the entire universe which has been taken over with flood, as the flood no longer wants to exist.
1 Mike = Free Universe, now that's a trade
It would’ve been funny if the flood hivemind received the information and could not comprehend it forcing itself to die
Actually the flood would be interested in some of those universes and try to infect then
"Because the humans were now busy trying to work out how fucking fire worked."
"If you trip and fall ass over and tit into flood goop your fuck as well."
The scariest thing about the flood and what makes it a threat to all life in the halo universe, is its intelligence. It learns and adapts insanely fast. For a brief moment in halo 3 it even works with master chief knowing that he is its only option of survival. The fact that it is unified and aware enough to do that is SCARY
The scariest thing about the flood is the Gravemind yapping and slowing you down in halo 3
I find it quite funny how it deciding now's a good chance to betray and Kill Master Chief and the Arbiter is what leads to the gravemind's undoing
@@MoGumbo_that shit annoyed tf outta me when i was high af like im just tryna shoot sum flood let me go
Self awareness and sentience. Much like skynet with its central mainframe. The hive mind has the exact same principle purpose
This is why I think the flood is the most powerful entity in fiction in terms of power scaling. The only thing I think that could even stand a chance, or the vex from destiny only because of their biology not because of their technology.
2:17 This is what happens when your not your parent's favorite, you throw a species wide hissy fit
Mike is the main character. Not only can he travel between fictional universes, he has re-manifested after every single death he's received.
So he's basically an SCP at this point.
Mike: "KILL ME! JUST FUCKING KILL ME! I CANT TAKE ANYMORE!"
Mike: KILL ME AGAIN I DARE Y- *ded*
SEE, I ALWAYS COME BACK, I ESCAPED THE FOUNDATION AND JUMPED TROUGH JOBS, I AM A GO- *dies again*
Bro thinks he’s Subaru 💀
The Flood is my favorite zombie/ infection. It’s such an interesting take on the “zombie” trope. They are not stupid monsters that crave flesh. They are an intelligent hive mind that demands more and more. It has an unending hunger for biomass and will stop at nothing until everything is a part of themselves.
It's not very unique though.

I'd like to see a universe where Mike, once a jedi, becomes a Darth Vader-like sith lord.
Knowing Mike's luck he'd be struck down by Vader himself in the Jedi Temple.
"I? I am a monument to all your sins." Gravemind
Wow, Mike had a heroic death
The way they first introduce the flood with foreshadowing through the environment and such of that Halo CE level sent goddamn shivers down my spine. Perfect execution
Mike did the impossible. He left The Company.
I’ve always been a fan of your content, I think the first videos I watched were the original SCP-610 ones, and I always hoped to see you cover the flood! Your drawing has definitely improved a lot over the years!
Today is a good day to see that you acknowledged the existence of The Flood. Definitely one of the better cosmetic horrors out there, despite being often overshadowed by the Covenant to people who aren't familiar with Halo as a franchise.
@My_pfp_beats_all_dog_breeds. At least they got a short time in the spotlight with Halo Wars 2, and continue to appear in some books.
We don't talk about what they did to them in that horrible show though. They absolutely dropped the ball on that and turned them to basic zombies.
@@FoundedScreenLady turn them into those shitty zombies from World War Z. And of course some people prise it.
I only ever played the 1st and 3rd games and barely paid much attention to the game's lore at the time. Definitely nice to see the actual LOOOOOORE behind the Halo series
@@aidanjackson5084 it make you feel better that a Spartan actually got infected by the flood and easily rocked house until leaving to some far off planet where no UNSC or covenant knows about.
I know it’s a different format but I can really tell you enjoy moving a bit away from SCP that makes me happy to hear the joy in your voice even if I and many other will miss it being a larger part but it’s always good to branch out and try new things
The reason they kept the flood is because they weren’t sure that the halo rings would completely wipe out the flood, so they kept the samples in the hope that a future civilization could find a cure
I’d kill for you to illustrate more Halo stuff, you absolutely kick ass with it.
I think the simplest solution to dealing with all of this would be to introduce WDB to the Flood.
Nah bro, that would be worse than when the flood became as big a problem it did when the forerunners had to activate the array. WDB would just learn Neural physics and be able to use Star Roads
The flood doesn’t just infect organic matter, it infects space and time itself. There’s a big chance a large enough flood presence could just outright infect the sun
There are fewer beings in the WDB that outright defy the sun with the flesh. ... that flood are going to have a field day.
@My_pfp_beats_all_dog_breeds. Simple, the Flood wouldn't be an issue anymore. And we get more WDB.
@My_pfp_beats_all_dog_breeds. the worst part is that the flood does the same as it can distort time and space with ease and it's one with the universe, the star roads are known to destroys Stars and planet with ease.
This is incredible man. Your voice is perfect for narration, and you have a great sense of humor! XD
And of course, the artwork and sound effects are godlike! You deserve so much more renown for your skills!
I can hear hiddenxperia getting giddy from here
I swear I just heard him say I C O N I C
Quick note on the Forerunners returning humanity to the stone age: It was only 1 Forerunner who decided to destroy humanity. Suffice to say, they were PISSED when he did that. You may know him as the main villain of 4.
yeah but it was confirmed that he got the logic plague by the flood, he wasn't aware of it until the current halo novel.
Another quick note I would add is the existence of the Keyminds and how it indicates that an entire planet is now under flood control. I heard that they aren't canon anymore for a reason I only remember as being dumb. I need to review their lore but I remember them being quite interesting.
-edit for typo
@@assassinationspartan_ Keyminds are canon but they've expanded; "Keymind" now is a blanket term for the Flood commander forms; including Proto-Graveminds, Graveminds, Abominations etc
Yeah he was Didact. And I hated him. I thought the brutes were hard, man, Promethian Knights are just awful.
@@ItsButterBean1020the Keymind is the final form of the Flood. Theoretically they have no limit. The grave mind we see in Halo 3 is the size of a reactor room but they can potentially be hundreds of kilometers long. Keyminds can be the size of entire planets. There is really no limit to the sheer size of the Flood and there is no clear transition point from proto grave mind to grave mind to key mind.
4:34 reminds me of SCP-5000 destroy everyone to destroy the threat lol
Some things are eternal

Mike’s horrible work accidents
Mike is Death and Creation
Now I kinda wanna see how Mr. Illustrated would cover the Tyranids from Warhammer 40k
Basically Scp 610 but it does not contract from spores and it is around the planets
A worse SCP 610.
The flood vs scp 682. The lizard may like what the flood does and helpes them.
Nah it’s just one giant snack for the lizard it will just slurp it up like soup
@@stargazer-elite or turn it into a gravemind then bend the will of the universe to remove the entity enterly or use it as unlimited biomasses so it can create supergravemonds to do the same... yeah he forgot to mention that the end goal is not a grave mind. It is a key mind which basically is scp343 but zombie
@My_pfp_beats_all_dog_breeds. Nah they will likely work together
@My_pfp_beats_all_dog_breeds. No matter how OP 682 is, the _Flood_ will not bend _their_ knee unless _they_ see a way _they_ can win in the end. You can’t force a nigh unkillable _thing_ to do anything, since _it_ can just come back later. *One* spore can easily change the whole universe to _their_ design.
@My_pfp_beats_all_dog_breeds. So can the Flood, past a certain point of infestation. Once the Gravemind grows big enough it slowly regains its old precursor powers. These include reality bending to a certain extent and distance.
Moving on to 682’s powers, how exactly do they work? If he’s able to just change everything to suit him, why doesn’t he do exactly that? Why not change the plot so that he’s not contained by the Foundation? If he does have these powers, he’s either hesitating to use them or doesn’t have true control over them.
One thing I'd like to see in the future is a video on the Gutterman from Ultrakill. It's a scary machine with some even more haunting lore.
I think the best way to deal with The Flood is to find a way to tune The Halo Array to target The Floods Pacific Genetic Code and then set them off so only The Flood is effected.
I don't think The Forerunners's had time to do that or they would of but i do believe it's doable.
Respect and keep up the epic work.
the problem is that the flood don't have any genetic code as it is always changing and adapting
Or just use the Rings, and DON'T keep a sample safe to study
@@Canadian_Zac And fire them from The Ark so you don't get Haloed to.
You are on the right track. You kill the Flood by the same way you deal with cancer. Chemo would absolutely annilate the Flood, think VX level toxins for us.
I’m honestly somewhat confused by the rings. On one hand they seem to be pretty much just a kill everything switch. But then I hear people say that they were designed to kill the food of the Flood, i.e. life itself, and not the Flood. Yet we see in Halo 3 that we fire a ring and kill like a lot of the galaxy in the direction that wasn’t Earth, so does Flood also get affected by it or does it not?
My current theories are mostly based on the fact that maybe high-level Graveminds have the ability to change reality in enough of a sense (since some sources do say they have reality bending abilities.) to make sure the Halos don’t instantly vaporize them? Either that or I’m mistaken.
3:50 basically return to monke
I am surprised that it wasn’t mentioned that you are still conscious when you are converted
Only for a short while the flood is sifting and erasing memories to use. After that your basically a brain dead vegetable but just responding to stimuli.
@@prompthorizon_12 That’s for the lucky bastard. Poor Jenkins.
I just wanted to say I'm really happy to see your channel continuing to succeed, now with a variety of content. Your video quality is incredible and the storytelling is gripping.
One thing I like to note about the Forerunners killing the Precursors is the Precursors were most likely going to wipe them out as they would get I'm the way of humans becoming the heir to the Precursors. The Precursors kinda had it coming
Precursors are sworn to not kill their creation. When they chose humans, the forerunners were jealous and retaliated like children. The precursors choose to respond by simply converting life to a new form. Alive and preserved. The form the remaining precursors chose to be: the flood.
They would only get in the way if they would just let go of their entitlement, as cool as they are hunting down god like beings is bound to bite you in the ass someday
I doubt it, it goes against everything they believe in. The whole point of the mantle is to protect life not destroy it
I think that particular story was a lie the Forerunners told to their people to allow them to live guilt free about the genocide, as the Forerunners did so to take the Mantle that they craved, which the Precursors were going to give to Humanity.
After reading Halo Silentium I can say yes but also no. The Primordial said that. The Primordial was an incredibly unreliable source considering they were basically a gravemind as well. That single book has like 4 or 5 reasons why the forerunners destroyed the precursors. All narratives are incredibly unreliable and it’s very hard to figure out what actually happened.
A video on the infested and warframes… well from warframe would go so hard. Plus, we’d get to see Mike with an actual happy ending for once, as he gets turned into an immortal space ninja with a personal void therapist.
Poor mike didn’t get to have private VR time with cortana
I knew the Flood were scary, but their origin? They were born from the remains of mad gods! How lovecraftian can you get?!
bruuuuhhhh what no way i recognised ur username from that xenomorph video u did
The flood lore still gives me chills
"a parasite that conquered" reminds me of the gould from star gate.
im so happy its finally out I shared it with most of my friends and even a pretty popular halo youtuber!
This doesn't even begin to touch on the horrors one would experience in a flood infection.
Be it a slow, meticlous conversion of a super cell inhaltion or the rapid mutation of an infection form attaching to you. It is horro incarnate.
The paracite doesn't fully cut the mind off from the body. Damaged or old infectors have had the original mind temporarily subvert control from it but only temporarily.
However, upon contact with an infector form, it will burro its razor sharp tendrils into your body and immediately seze control of your nervous system. Upon the injecting of the mutagen, your body will begen to rapidly mutate. Bones are snaped, organs disolved for biomass and ne apendages or bone gorowths erupt from tissue and skin. The paracite does nothing to blunt the pain you feel every bit of this, and you are not gone yet. Not by a long shot.
After it has co trol of your body, you will feel the paracite. The entity in your own mind will take hold of your memories and begin sifting through them on its own accord. Usful knowledge lime math, language and science, how to use technology and learned skills like droving and flying are absorbed with a ravenous hunger as it seeks to become more efficient. However useless knowledge like your favorite birthday party, the face of your mother, the feeling of your first kiss, or the time you were happies are all discarded. Deleted from your memory and torn away from you, want it or not. You are forced to watch as a 3rd part spectator as it deconstructs who you are memory by memory and every experience that makes you, you is erased as little more than inconsequential noise. You can fight it all you want, but the only thing you are doing is feeding it more in doing so. All until there is nothing left of you.
This is the personal hell it puts you through until your body is too depleted, consumed, or damaged to be of use. By that time your mind is long since dead and it uses whats left of your bio mass to create more pod infectors and you burst form them to only do the same to others, or your mass is added into a proto gravemind.
Finally. Hes overcome the seagulls, good for him
3:14 dude thats my dog pookie she's very nice so she wont bite
I saw your videos about the complete serie of Site-13 and SCP-5000, it's quite impresive how you was able to turn text into something even more... and I have also a question: have you ever considered to start a serie on Warhammer 40.000 or not ?
The reason the Gravemind says I am a monument to all your sins is bc bungie originally viewed humanity as the forerunners, who new humanity would then slowly realise was actually them when they discovered halo. But 343 retconned it.
I was looking forward to this one a lot and you absolutely delivered, amazing job!
For the Emperor!
Whoops, all this neural physics combined with the warp is causing multiverses to combine where the Tyranids, Flood, Necromorphs, and Las Plagas Virus, are all in 1 Galaxy.
His name is even Mike! Maybe the same Mike from Mr Illustrated's Necromorph video!? Ah? AHH??

Absolutely beautiful one of my favorite youtubers making a video about my favorite game saga 👌
Mikes one heck of a marine if he lasted that long, its probably lots of experience and no fear for death from dieing but always coming back
About the Forerunners keeping Flood samples:
There was always the possibility of the Flood getting out of Halos range and coming back later. So the best thing to do was to try and find a way to truly get rid of them.
There's also a possible second reason for the keeping of Flood samples that stands in complete opposition to the first;
The Forerunners protect all live... which also includes the most basic forms of the Flood. Since the Flood can't coexist with any eco-system but is also in a way a living thing the best way to serve the Mantle while also protecting live would be to lock the Flood away forever...
Forerunners: "if we wipe out all neurological life the parasite will die out"
Meanwhile the flood: "HA good luck with that...we live and exist within existence itself, matter of fact WE ARE EXISTENCE!!!! 😈"
GIVE MIKE A RETIERMENT!!!!
So Mike has gone through alot, from being crushed by a Fazbear suit at Freddy's, to transforming into a Slasher type Necromorph, to then serving the company (while getting killed by every monster) to then having his genetic code, nerve systems and functions hacked and mutated by the Flood
We need Justice for Mike
Your Halo illustrations are incredible! Way better than mine, and I’ve been a fan of the franchise since Halo: Reach back in 2010! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
It would actually be cool if Mr Illustrated could actually make a 'vs' video on the flood and the necromorph.....a story will really be cool!! Like the other previous scp vs videos ofc...
I hope this comment will get some attention.

The introduction to the flood in Halo CE was awesome but few moments in Video Games have sent more chills down my spine then the crying marine during floodgate in halo 3
The flood knows what the gravemind likes.. I know I know, just roll that beautiful bean footage.
I swear the preserved flood samples were just some petty Forerunners saying one final "Fuck you"
You did it! I commented on another video you should do one about the flood to lure halo fans to your channel and you did! Good on you mate
I’m surprised you didn’t mention that one ODST who managed to survive getting infected because it was on halo installation 04, but had no control of his body.

@@Thestormthatisapproaching5 The flood is much worse. Much much worse.
G’day! Very nice video and “experiment” you made on poor ol’ Mike.

Don’t worry guys!, Chips Dubbo has our backs against these floods!
I would like to point out the flood can also reach a Keymind, it's a all flood Planet and the flood can also become a Mulitversal being onmce consumed a universe of life and all that intelligence can just dip to another universe spreading the Flood.
Damn! I did not come across those variants in my research. Those sound horrifying
@@MR_ILLUSTRATED It’s a weird topic to come across. I don’t think we have much on keyminds apart from alleged reality bending abilities. Some people also say they aren’t canon anymore or something about them changed.
The forerunners keeping the flood was logical, there was a very real possibility that the flood had already left the galaxy and could return from the edge of the array at some point
