We need a Johnny and Kevin makeup video combining all or most of these summer "makeup trends" in one look. Id love to see this as a challenge video, it would be so fun. Lol!
This is quickly becoming my favorite podcast. The tiny zingers are just amazing. "If you want to call this pink, sure. A raspberry lip, if that..." Kevin's delivery is perfection and the two of you play off eachother flawlessly. Here for every minute.
Thank you *SO* much for the 'weird lips' 'seal of approval' comment! As a 'baby goth' whose been wearing lip colours that aren't 'conventional' or the social norm for decades, I am _beyond sick_ of people saying, "you're so kooky/brave/interesting. I wish I could do that with my makeup/ hair/ clothes/ nails." That's _not_ a compliment boo boo kitty!!! 🤬🤣🤦🏾♀️
As a nurse that 911 situation is appalling! They want to know the exact second you were conceived. And is the blood spitting or pouring, really? Just the fact that this man face planted twice, and you verbalized that he hit his head on the curb. That man would have gone straight to a CT scan. I love you both. Once again made my week. Kevin, I just pulled out my graphic liner pens, I am going to figure out how to recreate that look. Have a wonderful week to you both!!!
OMG. Trixie looked ROUGH and it's past time we addressed it. 👏👏 As a child of the 1980s, I'm not mad at the idea of matte skin, and brows, well, maybe we could move away from the scared cat brows, just for a little while. 😂 This article is wild. Makeup should be fun! Wear all the cool lips, all the glitter eyes. No one went to their grave regretting glitter. ❤
I’d never seen this photo before but HOO BOY poor Trixie should have sued for that darksided-ass look.WHAT WERE THE BROWS. WHY DID THEY MAKE HER FOREHEAD LOOK SO BIG. SCOTT WHERE DID THE HURT BEGIN.
That silence right before the Nyx collaboration 😂😂😂 You are definitely on each other's wavelengths. I can see you reading each other's minds through your eye contact 💀🧐😂
Ok I laughed and cried, omg. Kevin saying it's "serviceable " and then ending with a Pixar conversation, I had to get up and grab the tissues. Loved hanging out with you two.
Jessica Lange set my standard of beauty when I was 12 in 1976 and saw her in King Kong! High standards for sure when I was young, but such an inspiration of aging realistically and gracefully now.
Girl I went to see the new Scream movie. I walked in to a dim dark theater only me in the theater. Haha. I texted my husband “I’m in theater 8 if anything happens “ 😂
Well, even if it was a medical condition, ambulances are sooooooo expensive, I’d be tempted to run, too. Once they’re there, even if you clearly state that you do not need or want them to take you, they almost always do, and you’re suddenly thousands of dollars in debt. But you’re probably right that something else was going on
I adore Johnny & Kevin’s “Purchase & Pass”. It’s always a great way for me to jot down a new product to buy, that’s going to be a sure thing! Thank you to you both, for coming up with this great idea & explaining each product. 💖🤗💖
Johnny, I got that Beauty Blender foundation because of your rec a few weeks ago (also the Hourglass powder because of you lol) and it’s MAGICAL. Best foundation I’ve ever used. BTW, my favorite Pixar movie is UP. Y’all gotta give respect to UP! Also Re: the incinerator scene in Toy Story 3, my son was 7 I think and I was worried it might scare him. He turns to me and his Dad with pure glee on his face and says, “What if they just catch fire and die?” He just gave a little evil giggle. Yes, my son is a demon. But he’s MY demon. 😂
As a MUA for 20 years, I absolutely applaud both of you for your no-nonsense approach to what this Industry has become. I listen, all the while, literally nodding and smiling along.
As someone who is a natural blonde and has VERY light hair on my body, including brows I just can’t with the bleached brow look. I’m happy to see all these things I was made fun of (light eyebrows, freckles) are suddenly popular but mentally I just can’t. 😂😂 my whole life I’ve been teased for these things and I don’t think I’m brave enough to try. Although I’m glad my natural freckles can shine. 😊 also same for my oily skin. It’s GONNA BE DEWY anyway so I’m not buying dewy products. I’d be a HOT MESS. 😂
My girlfriend and I were just talking about this, and being older we have seen these trends recycle over and over, then they run out of terms for them and "Dazzling "Featherweight" "Dewy" are some we laughed about. Specifically the year in the 90s "Bedazzled Eyes" were the "hot trend" when you just know rhinestone manufacturers paid off the Bedazzled & cosmetics people to push their product.
Craf store rhinestones are the best! They stick on much better than any ”professional” crap and stay on as long as you want them to! I went through my high school with entire sheet on my face 😂
Ugh, Pixar. I swear they live off of our tears. I am literally not allowed to watch Coco because it came out right after my grandmother died and the feels are just way too much. Even just the opening few bars of Remember Me and I'm in a corner bawling.
My fav Pixar movie is A Bug;s Life which is sooooo underrated and probably the #1 reason why my generation (late millennial) is full of radicalized socialists. THERE ARE MORE OF US THAN THEM!!!! TAKE DOWN THE GRASSHOPPERS/BOURGEOIS!!!!
Can I just say how much I appreciate Johnny and Kevin highlighting (see what I did there? 😂) the mature skin point of view? I feel like they make a really good point of discussing both when they feel certain makeup products are particularly effective on mature skin, and when other products are completely useless.
All the discussion on technique this episode??! Yes Please. I'm definitely going to try the method Johnny explained for skin tints over concealer, because I've been scared of tints until now with textured skin. I would Love to hear your advice on how to apply (and reapply) spf over makeup one day please. It's only recently that we've got spfs suitable for dark skin, but often they don't sit well under makeup. I look forward to the podcast every Sunday. Much love from India
I could listen to the two of talk about makeup all day! I have learned so much from the two of you, and I deeply appreciate you both! Thank you for another awesome episode ❤
Thank you guys. I am so thankful to work for Bobbi Brown, where skin looks like skin. I also live in a subtropical climate. When I worked at Ulta, all these women wanted full coverage because it was seen on tic tok. I would look at these women qnd say, do you realize we live in a bog? I gaurentee this person is not dealing with our level of humidity
As someone with hooded eyes I actually love the in between of satin finishes instead of always having glittery shimmers. I wish there were in more palettes. Instead it’s just mattes and glitters. Completely agree with you guys about The NYX Barbie collab. It’s horrible and such a missed opportunity. Those colors don’t scream Barbie at all.
Too faced always looks so unappealing and wildly uninspired to me. I also can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a new release && thought, no it’s not. That’s super old! Same, same🤦🏽♀️&& don’t get me started on the Christmas releases. Drugstore highlighter: essence pure nude. It’s stunning, I wear it over ALL my high end, gorg over texture. I 🩷glamlite. Indie shadows all day!
I have the same anxiety in the movie theater. When I saw the white guy walk out with his backpack just as the movie started, I thought it might be over for us.
My whole family left the house to go to the lake. Twist its pouring here and I'm just taking the time to enjoy the rain in peace and quiet. 😂 I'll clean later.
I am just baffled by all the shootings that are still happening and there are still nothing done to make them rarer. I feel for your cinema anxiety... Wall-E in my opinion is the movie that every child should see. And adults as well. 💖
Goth makeup in summer makes me think of Moira Rose on Schitt's Creek. She wore black and white with dark makeup 'round. She and David made me sweat just to look at them, but I think that was the point. We were supposed to know how uncomfortable they were in that small town.
Harper's Bizarre just makes me think of my mom's Boomer generation. I would never take advice from it at any point in my life and I'm Gen X. Im actually shocked they are still in business.
...I'm personally insulted by the 'weird lips' thing. I DID that thick line of lip color with a central line but nude between look for something avant garde/editorial (because that's my bread and butter) in a yellow and teal look. Bloody hell the softly darkened lips are a Goth/Emo staple... And preach! Cheap rhinestones from Michael's or Aliexpress or 'nail art rhinestones/flatback cabochons' will save people SO much money. ....the Edgy Glam made me laugh my arse off. How do you two feel about blush across the nose? I've seen folks be very divided about it.
Johnny and Kevin: discussing anxiety in the cinema because of shootings Me: Just came back from a movie that I watched during the fucking air raid alert /here in Ukraine cinemas stop movie for 10 minutes during air raid alert and you can leave or just stay and wait for them to continue. we're so used to air raid alerts that almost nobody cares, and it's kinda scary./
Even if i had a medical condition, if i didn't have insurance i might run from the "threat" of an ambulance, sad to say. I have the movie theatre anxiety too - and parades, sporting events - anything with a crowd of people. Even my daughter's graduation. Not restaurants yet thank goodness.
So..... I recently found out I have dyspraxia, and thats one reason I can't seem to do makeup lol. I need to find someone, some where to teach me in person. I know what to do, but can't execute it 😅
My Fiancé's dad is a volunteer fireman! He got in after 9/11 because he was so moved by the first responders there. He has many stories but the one he told me he's the most proud of is the first time he administered Narcan to someone who had overdosed. They live in a small town so he sees this person occasionally and they have been in recovery since that incident. Even since he retired last year he's still a volunteer. It's a real passion he has for his community and he is so incredibly empathetic to anyone he's served. Volunteer first responders hold our society together and they truly are saints.
Watching you guys is like watching to two friends having a fun conversation. I look forward to your uploads every Sunday. Thank You Johnny and Kevin. ❤
Toy Story is the best animated movies ever. Walle also gets me all the time. My son loved that movie growing up, I didn’t think he would since he was 2 when it came out and there was little talking. Those movies he would actually sit down and watch at that age.
Your fears about attending a film in the cinema is so heartbreaking to me, I live in Canada and this isn’t a fear here. I cannot even imagine. Come to Canada to see films, we’d be happy to see you and the exchange rate on the dollar for you is pretty sweet.
I love you two. Just your heartfelt conversations get me. I love it. Best time. Love your hot takes on current trends. So good. Over the dewy skin. Not it for me at 46. It's just greasy looking. I can't.
Sunset blush all up and down the sides of the face and a punchy bright orange or magenta pink lip - summer all day :D Isn’t summer about bright and fun? Purple highlighter packed on to offset any mattifying center/T-zone flatness? Shouldn’t summer be fun?! The new “trends” remind me of the death of McDonald’s fun and turning it to Bauhaus boring…
I think it's fair to say this podcast is great - I have zero clue in makeup. Totally clueless and on a good 'date night' look, will have on both eyeliner and lipstick. Possibly go wild and add mascara. But that is it. I am utterly clueless and incapable. Have really not much interest in makeup, brands, looks, etc. And yet, damn it, love this podcast. If you can hook someone who is as far from the world as you can get, you have something special.
* BARELY THERE BROWS??? AHHHH BLACK HONEY BARELY THERE LIPSTICK FINALLY CAMNGRT A DATE 🌹 🎉❤ITS A BARELY THERE LOVE ITS A SECURITY GET HIM ON THE NO PRENUP 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉!!!!!!!!
With as wonderful as many of NYX’s products are they’re collabs are always a miss && look cheap w/o even seeing or swatching them. Their eyeshadows need soooo much work && idk why they don’t upgrade them heavily. Little. Kids. Makeup.
The dewy skin trend is not for me at all; my pores are craters because of my VERY oily skin T_T. Any tips for minimising pores and suitable highlighters?? Please and thank you!! ^_^
You NEED to see the movie Mannequin with Kim Cattrall and Andrew McCarthy. Late 80s/early 90s and FaBuLoUs!! I know you'll love it. When I was a kid it was one of my absolute favorites!
Dude, the worst part of the Bing-Bong sequence was that Amy Poehler sings "Bing-Bong!" so maniacally that I burst out laughing--just as the thing you described happens. My former husband looked at me like I was a monster.
You guys, the "weird lip" thing I don't get it. I work in what you guys call drugstore make-up. I LOVE the maybelline superstay matte ink in Huntress. It's grey. I love it coz it's different and no one else had a colour like it so naturally I bought it. They've discontinued it, of course 🙄 but it's probably one of my favourite lipsticks
I lived in Asbury on 2nd ave right behind the Stone Pony in 2007-2011. My neighbor was a crack dealer and he loved Kenny G and sometimes i guess he was sampling his wares and would BLAST Kenny G from his Bronco in the street. There was also a stabbing in the street right outside my place. It was really "up and coming" (read: in need of some love) before investments in businesses from the gay community that started around 2009ish. It's almost unrecognizable today, in a good way (except for the beach tags, too expensive!).
Shrek! Oh my God I can't believe Shrek didn't come up for Pixar movies. Fantastic movie. The first and second are amazing and so sweet. Three and four are ok admittedly. But love them. And Coco. Oh my God I've watched that movie over a dozen times and I still cry when grandma starts to sing back. 😢
Dont shave your eyebrows off either. Dont make my mistake. I grew up in a strict home where emotions and talking were not allowed much. I was so angry and stressed i shaved off half my brows. They never grew back.
Here is my brave opinion. I’ve adored Johnny for a while now. When he started this podcast, I was like Yay. Bringing Robert Welsh on Fuck yay. Then Kevin. Hmmmm. 3 episodes in, Johnny & Kevin!!! Fuckkkkk Yayyyyy! I’m probably slow in this but I kinda want to go slap my former self.
Cotton eye joe blush lmao. Also you’re so right kevin about 911. I called once after giving my son an epi pen for a food allergic reaction. You’d have thought I was a full on criminal they were like you sound out of breath and agitated maam what’s really going on? Like WHAT!!! I just had to save my kids life so YEAH IM OUT OF BREATH AND AGITATED! but the emts were like a gift from above. Love you two!!!
I use taupe brow gel because my skin and eyes are light. Hair is medium brown, natural brows are medium to dark brown. So yep...I go lighter brows to blend with skin tone and eyes, not my hair.
The satin eyeshadow pots are so my speed but I completely understand from your pov why they're blah. I do struggle toning down already bombastic colors, so that only takes up a portion of my collection. And I can't do glitters on my eyes anymore, I just can't with the texture 😢
Jen Phelps is a lover of Moira like me and u, lol....and she did a review on the Moira Everlust shimmer cream shadows! She said they were like the Charlotte Tilbury eyes to mesmerize and never found anything similar to them b4 these. Shw said they feel so good and look so good, but they just don't last. 😢 if u "need" something like this, then stick with the CT where it's worth it. I agree tho, we disnt need these from Moira. And i absolutely adore Moira!
I have naturally very ashy brown hair and eyebrows that are so blonde they're see-through (and sparse!). Take it from me, in my natural form, I look like a psycho. Haha
Hey I was a cheerleader and an artsy girl. 😂 Edit to say that guy that fell in the street was probably taking medications. They can increase the effects of alcohol. I wrote this right before you said the same thing.
the reason all the brands and news outlets r disregarding the whole personal preference is because they want to be the best and known for “making” the makeup industry
I knew a guy with a wet fetish and i think that's food for thought. There's people out there who arent just attracted to but have a whole fetish about looking like you just got out the shower 5:48
Weird lips! Mine after every application of color - right before I eat a huge meatball sandwich. Now that's weird! So happy to laugh along with you! Thanks so much!
I got miffed at the "weird lip" trend. May I just say the alt community had been using blacks and greige tones to ombre out lips since the 90s. Poor Harper's Bazaar is out of touch 😂
Exactly! I was wearing a black lip liner with red glitter middle everyday in middle school! It was AWESOME
This!!!
I love that you used the word “miffed” you had me at that point! Love you!! ❤
They are columbusing hard.
We need a Johnny and Kevin makeup video combining all or most of these summer "makeup trends" in one look. Id love to see this as a challenge video, it would be so fun. Lol!
OOOOOH I love this idea! 🩵
That would be hilarious
Winner
Good idea!!!
Yessssss
Is it a Beautiful And Bothered Episode without Kevin's iconic breathy laugh at the start 😹😹❤
Kevin’s laugh is everything!! 🥰
🤬🤣🤦🏾♀️
I beg of you both - to do all the trends in one look, or take half each and show us 😂😂😂
Yes. All of this! Thank you!!
period
As a nurse that 911 situation is appalling! They want to know the exact second you were conceived. And is the blood spitting or pouring, really? Just the fact that this man face planted twice, and you verbalized that he hit his head on the curb. That man would have gone straight to a CT scan. I love you both. Once again made my week. Kevin, I just pulled out my graphic liner pens, I am going to figure out how to recreate that look. Have a wonderful week to you both!!!
Aw thank you for this! It was an INSANE situation! And that also makes our day, have fun with your makeup!

That 911 story sounds so traumatizing to experience but you’re a top tier story teller because I was in tears
The way it kept going
As a 64 year old beauty & makeup junkie, I love the dewy look on my skin. I think it totally flatters mature skin.
Yeah I'm a 57 year old woman... I like to dewy skin look but not the wet skin look 💦
I'm a 52 year old woman, and I approve this message.😉😊
What would Sundays be without seeing Johnny's face contort as they review makeup collabs😂

Purple highlighter packed on to offset any mattifying center/T-zone flatness? Shouldn’t summer be fun?! The new “trends” remind me of the death of McDonald’s fun and turning it to Bauhaus boring…
Oh my goodness!! Pixar movies always just rip your heart out just for fun! 😂😭
I am 30 seconds in and already so happy and adore you both 💗 💓 💛!!🎉
I am so glad tou found someone who loves you so much johnny and isnt a jealous of your best friend
Kevin is bringing back 1980’s punk with the hair and makeup. That poppin’ blush would make Barbara proud. 💝
Little. Kids. Makeup.
guys you are my FAV podcast - cant skip an episode and being so into both of you! Lots of love from a greek in london
Thank you!!! 🩷
In terms of timeless trends, Hannah Louise poston did a video going over some that was really good and inspiring.
Best thing about Sunday I wait to listen until I go to the gym since this always puts me in such a good mood ❤
Haha
And thank you for calling out renaming the same old shit. Or lets just add core at the end. my favorite is 90s sleeze. It's grunge
Hey I was a cheerleader and an artsy girl. 😂 Edit to say that guy that fell in the street was probably taking medications. They can increase the effects of alcohol. I wrote this right before you said the same thing.
"Any other run-ins with the law?" Johnny and Kevin are me and my bestie, only 30 years younger and dudes. ❤
Right when I heard you guys say bold blushes I thought okay Barbara's now you're in style
If I were to ever get offended by washed up cheerleaders guessing in the dark at makeup trends… I’d be offended by weird girl lips
the reason all the brands and news outlets r disregarding the whole personal preference is because they want to be the best and known for “making”
the makeup industry
I knew a guy with a wet fetish and i think that's food for thought. There's people out there who arent just attracted to but have a whole fetish about looking like you just got out the shower

Weird lips! Mine after every application of color - right before I eat a huge meatball sandwich. Now that's weird! So happy to laugh along with you! Thanks so much!
Great episode guys! I could listen to you two read the phone book. ❤️
I love watching you both. Fun and hilarious
The new Trixie and Katya 💯
You can even go to a dollar store together rhinestones which already has adhesives on it.
You two just make my Sunday! I’m so happy the algorithm brought you into my life 💕🧡💕🧡
I agree Jessica Lange is beautiful and she has the it factor
