One thing that is often overlooked is consistency. I'm 53 and up until maybe a year or so ago, I have always used Olay, St.Ives, Freeman, Dove & Nivea products. All drugstore. And, for an old broad, my skin is doing pretty good! I've been consistent with always taking care of my skin since I was 18 and started with Oil of Olay, always washing my makeup off, staying out of the sun, etc. Consistency is key. 💖😎👍🤭 And NO CIGARETTES! 💖😉👍
omg...i started with noxema during my teens esp during my period..... dont be mad....but kesha needs too just move on... quit complaining and move on... these days ppl hang on too everything and as women i know ive been through alot but move on.... get up dust yourself off and move on chin up even when you dont want too and then one day you wont think of it and then a week and then a month.... love from canada
@Christine Danis I understand what you're saying, and while that is good advice, there's things that happen in people's lives that they have to mentally and physically work through, and art is an excellent way to do that. I'm a sexual assault, physical assault survivor, and if I was musically talented enough to write songs about it, I would. And it happened 30 years ago, and it still affects my daily life, even though I absolutely DO NOT want it to. PTSD for survivors is real, and her writing songs about it is good, even if it's not a chart topper. 💜
Here in Europe Nyx is not considered as a drugstore brand it’s actually higher 😭 I always enjoy this podcast, thank you for creating ✨🤍 Greetings from Spain 🇪🇸
Thank you for your opinions on the Elf Camo Concealer. Everyone raves about it, and I’m over here thinking it’s yellow and I must be doing something wrong
I'm 27 and roller rinks were a big thing when I was in elementary school and the roller rink #1 song that they played in my home town was "Yeah" by Usher and I loved every minute of it 😂
i love the fact that you added kev into the videos johnny you two are so precious and adorable. your podcast is the only one i actually enjoy! please keep making more episodes they are truly so entertaining!! love yall
I was obsessed with Kevin's face in this video. His makeup was amazing. That is exactly how I want my makeup. Just looked so flawless and minimal. I have to come back and take notes on this video. So many brands that I actually know and use. I can't wait for the high end version.
I went on a Kesha binge with these two singles, because it feels like you immerse in it especially to folks with severe anxiety due to trauma, yet still holding onto the innocence before it
When you talked about skincare, think outside the drugstore but staying in drugstore prices: the ordinary is inexpensive and usually in target as well as ulta and Sephora, and a lot of Korean and Japanese skincare is similarly priced but usually found online. Get a basic cleanser, a serum that addresses a skincare concern, a long-term moisturizer either for day or night, and maybe an eye cream if your skin is on the drier side. Add in a exfoliant once or twice a week. Can be done at the drugstore, just research your ingredients.
Thank you for this. Drugstore store makeup isn’t covered enough on beauty yt. I watched this with a notepad and now I have a list of products to try! It’s great that you gave Angie from Hot and Flashy a shout out. She deserves it!
Absolutely! Lots of drugstore makeup being shown on YT, which makes sense since the quality AND the prices are catching up to midrange and sometimes high-end faster than we can keep up on our own!
Thanks to Robert Welsh I've been on that Beauty Bay eyeshadow train for a few years! I used the large nude palette for my wedding and it was on sale for $10. I left my Pat McGrath and Natasha Denona palettes at home. It was Beauty Bay and Tati for the wedding/honeymoon trip.
I am learning I need to have a pen and paper handy when listing too you both. So many tips I need to be noting down :) soon 50 and you both are teaching me so much.
If you do a breakdown by skin tone, I would love that. I would need to be a series, but yes. Amazing. I used to be a very pale skin tone and in the 90's the only option was to add baby powder to the fairest one. Now that I'm older, I need one that hides and blends out the reddish skin tone I developed after decades of sun damage. And I would absolutely adore a little section of the end where you call out a "Save your Money" don't spend on something. That would be amazing. So many times I am swayed by these amazing colors only to go home and the color density is awful or not true on skin. Throw some shade their way!!!
I have rosacea so redness is a big issue for me and I use The Corrector Anti-redness primer by Catrice. Love that product. It's the best product of that kind I have ever tried. It doesn't have the white base other green colour correctors have. And it's so light that I can use it all over my face without looking heavy. I can even use it on its own when I don't what to use anyother makeup.
Moody rosacea and weird pigmentation/age spots make color matching impossible with liquid or cream foundations. I use tinted mineral sunscreens with BareMinerals OG Original loose mineral powders dusted and buffed over top. 20+ years of this.
Wow!! I’m old! The conversation around roller rink parties sent me into complete “Blast from the Past” mode. I was born in 1968. A large portion of the late 70’s early 80’s were spent at the roller rink. The 2 most played songs were Tears of a Clown by Smokey Robinson and Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf. 😂😂. Also, I would love to see a breakdown of high end products worth the price. You guys are doing an awesome job!
I was born in 1994 and we had a huge roller rink in our town and so many parties there when I was really little. My mum’s a 69 baby, and I remember her taking me to these parties telling me about how she used to go to roller rinks when she was little too!
The Colourpop No Filter and Nyx Can’t Stop Won’t Stop loose powder are the only ones that go under my eyes, they are so finely milled and do not accentuate my fine lines, whilst also blurring my pores
For the red headed girlies who want a brown mascara, I personally really enjoyed the Elf Lash it Loud brown mascara! The wand is really sharp so you really don't want to poke yourself with it, but the color was a lot more natural on my eyes than black mascara is!
My everyday brown mascara is Heroine Make by Isehan. I can usually get away with their Curl Keep Mascara Base in Clear Brown by itself since it's a pretty reddish brown and waterproof.
Johnny, you've been one of my top go-to beauty creators since I first stumbled upon you last year. I'm so glad you brought Kevin on permanently. You both are so lovely. Also, yes, heartbreakingly, my beloved BH was bought by grody-ass Makeup Revolution last year. I'm sure they're going to cheapen, if not completely ruin, the magnificence that was BH eyeshadow and the unbelievable quality of their products
That ignorance of BU's superior eyeshadow formula by Revolution has already happened. Look back at Jen Phelps, she did swatches and showed us truly 👎 performance awhile back.
Saw this today and knew I immediately needed to share with you guys: Maybelline was created by a teenage boy! For his sister way back when! Glad you both found space in this world for what you love, thanks for sharing your stories ❤
BH cosmetics were my starting brand. Drugstore makeup wasn't really in my shade. Mac was the first time I fell in love with makeup. I got it professionally done by a really sweet MUA. I didn't want to wash it off I was so amazed 😂
You guys made me tear up while you told your stories of going out in a full beat in your earlier years. I heard you so clearly on the fact that skincare can change your life. I started using The Ordinary products as soon as they came available, in my early 40’s, and it changed everything - the clarity of my skin, signs of aging etc. Hooray for affordable skincare!
Kesha as a vocalist is amazing!! The emotion that she puts into her music is definitely something that isn't done much anymore and it's so disappointing. "Praying" is one of my favorite songs! Edited to add: I think this was one of my favorite podcast episodes that you have put out! Extremely informative! Thanks!!
My Morphe Artistry palette and my Hindash palette are my two go to palettes for just about every look. I love them and I can create so many looks with just those two palettes.
I'm 36 and roller rinks were totally a thing growing up! I'm just experimenting drugstore makeup so definitely taking notes. I've always preferred mid range makeup(stilla, urban decay etc) and didn't want to bother with drugstore before. Excited to see what you two recommend 🎉 You two are so nice to listen to, so inclusive, keep up the great work!❤
Hey guys, I couldnt agree more about Elf's Camo concealer. The two colors I bought are living in my toolbox, they'll be wall spackle the next time I paint. But the HYDRATING Camo is a different story...softer, more fluid, satiny finish and beautiful shades for pinker undertones. You might also try color/tone adjusters by NYX or L.A. Girl if you find a texture product you love that's just the wrong color.
I Love hearing about your favorite affordable makeup cuz I'm basically starting over from scratch rn and would DEFINITELY also love to hear what high-end makeup you guys think is worth the💲. Also, I can't get over how handsome you both are without makeup and how absolutely gorgeous you are in full glam. It's not fair!😭😂 Love you two!💗😘
Don't even get me started on finding the right makeup for my mature pale freckled redheaded face 😂 Absolutely love you both and the positive drama free commentary ❤
I'm so glad u mentioned that the lightest elf contour IS an actual contour, people keep saying they aren't contours and I'm yelling at my phone "the light one really is though!!"
The panicked "ROLLER RINK PARTIES!!!" lol love you both. Enjoying this podcast. Even though I don't wear makeup regularly anymore, I enjoy your perspectives on the industry and storytelling whenever you have something else!
That was great! It felt like the kind of shop talk that us regular folk need. Thank you! 🙏🏻 I would appreciate an episode like this about higher end brands as well, because there is so much misinformation around beauty and make up. And I loved the shout out for hot and flashy. Her channel is definitely worth a look! Thank you both so much! ☺️🙏🏻
Loved ❤ this episode! I’m very into the luxury haul recs that are worth the expense - I’ll be waiting! PS - I love the glowy minimal beat Kevin was rocking. 🥰
Back to watch again, and I agree that skin prep/care is the most important step. For anyone interested in a simple, inexpensive but super effective and healthy skin care/prep (imo), I’ll list the 4 things I’ve used that have completely turned my skin around in less than 6 months. It not only looks better, it feels smoother, and I don’t even need as much makeup now, since its now clearer, softer and has a new, natural glow. 1. Daily collagen in tea or coffee. 2. Organic jojoba oil massaged in and wiped off with a warm washcloth to clean and exfoliate. (Nothing else: no other cleansers or soaps of any kind.) After wiping it off, you can press more into your damp skin to moisturize. 3. The Ordinary’s Niacinamide. (I know its 10% formula has fallen out of favor, but I don’t care. If you have oily skin and tend to break out, it works great. It’s also a great primer before makeup.) 4. Organic, cold pressed Castor oil to moisturize at night, especially around eyes, eyelashes, and eyebrows. That’s it. For me, nothing else needed. Inexpensive, simple, clean and healthy for skin.
Loved this! Hi Johnny and Kevin, would it be possible to include pics of products discussed or links if we want to pick up the products you love? Thank you
Agree with you about brown mascara. The nice lady at Ulta pointed me to the Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Hydrofuge brown mascara and it's my go-to now. Waterproof too!
The wet n wild skin tint is the absolute best!!!! The primer in that collection "the impossible" primer is also good and reminds me of the huda beauty glowish blur jam!!!!
I love this podcast so so much! I always take notes on what products to use with my student budget so this episode was perfect :)) I’m just really sad to not be able to find several of the brands you mentioned just because I’m from France, but I’ll keep my precious list for when I come to the US! Keep it up with the hard work guys, love you both 💗
New elf lash and roll mascara has a brown. So does loreal Bambi eye. I love you giving wet and wild some love. So many great things...I still have back ups of all the cushion products. The pink cushion color correcter for dark eye circles is the best!!
I’m in love with this podcast. Johnny, will you please do a review of Believe makeup from Dollar General. I have found a few things this line that are wonderful. I’d like to see what you think because it is incredibly affordable.
Yes!!!! I try telling everyone, u have to do your skincare! Think of an artist laying paint on a canvas. It has to be perfect or it will show every lil thing! When u take care of your skin and do your skin prep the makeup u put down will also be perfect! (Speaking reality here, not perfect but u know what I mean.) Skincare is so important and start early!!!!! I wish I had! But since I have the last 7 yrs or so, my skin has been sooo much better!!!!!
Yay….actually made it here when it was posted! I’m always late 😂 Hi Johnny and Kevin😊😊😊 Much love to you both! Poor Kevin missed out on the roller rink parties…I’m old, so I’m the 80’s were roller rink heaven!
I'm new to both your channels. I love your content. I love when you have Kevin on you seem to feed off each other and I love it. Keep up the great work you are awesome and Kevin is too. ❤❤
I’m so excited that I found your content! I was binging Allie Glines content while working late and your collab with her (on her channel and your podcast together) was so much fun! It was an instant-subscribe moment for me. I’ve felt like I was in a rut with makeup (and makeup content) recently - this podcast is getting me inspired to be creative with my makeup again. Thank you both for making something wonderful here!
I was born in ‘88 && everyone’s elementary party was at spinners the rollerblading//skating rink!! Then as a teen they had ‘lock ins’ and you’d stay over. I snuck out one night to go.
"Screech was gay!?" 😂🙌 I love him!

Born in ‘92 and ‘96. Oh lord am I old! Lol! You two are hysterical!
Additionally, I would appreciate the luxury makeup that is actually worth it video. I loved this video about drugstore makeup. Super helpful!
@@victoriarose466 girl same! I graduated in 91!! 😆
LOL, same. Born in '65, and enjoyed roller disco parties!
Same! My son was born in 97 😂
My 2 sons are 36 and 29, I'm old too...boo hoo....
Here in Europe Nyx is not considered as a drugstore brand it’s actually higher 😭 I always enjoy this podcast, thank you for creating ✨🤍 Greetings from Spain 🇪🇸
In Germany Nyx is available in Drugstores :) Guess it depends on the country.
Thank you for your opinions on the Elf Camo Concealer. Everyone raves about it, and I’m over here thinking it’s yellow and I must be doing something wrong
Same 😂
The song “Right Round” was originally released in the 80’s by a band called Dead Or Alive. Great club song!
Actually, I think the one by Flo Rida is a remake. Some of the lyrics are a little different.
I'm 27 and roller rinks were a big thing when I was in elementary school and the roller rink #1 song that they played in my home town was "Yeah" by Usher and I loved every minute of it 😂

I've been finding worthy Korean products in the travel/ sample bins at WalMart! Nice stuff for $5. or $9.!
I love that Walmart carries kbeauty now! It holds me over between trips to Ulta.
Thank you for this. Drugstore store makeup isn’t covered enough on beauty yt. I watched this with a notepad and now I have a list of products to try! It’s great that you gave Angie from Hot and Flashy a shout out. She deserves it!

The rant about Kesha is why I'm relistening to the episode. She's so under appreciated, love her songwriting and music. 🥲
I adore your intro music and seeing y’all’s beautiful faces! 😍
Edit to add: The ADHD conversation is highly entertaining and a balm to my ADHD soul ❤
✋SAME!! 😊 ABSOLUTELY 💯%!!
LOL I clocked it too, takes one to know one I guess 😂

This is absolutely my new favorite podcast I wish there were more to binge
I love Johnny shouting out Allie Glines!! She and Tylan are so genuine! ❤

My Sunday is now complete after watching Johnny and Kevin! ❤
Please don't ever stop talking about music!! Hearing your takes is my favorite part of this whole podcast, and that is saying a lot.
The Colourpop No Filter and Nyx Can’t Stop Won’t Stop loose powder are the only ones that go under my eyes, they are so finely milled and do not accentuate my fine lines, whilst also blurring my pores
The amount of times I have rewatched this while I googled ALL THE THINGS lol. LOVE THIS GIVE US MORE! 😘😘
For the red headed girlies who want a brown mascara, I personally really enjoyed the Elf Lash it Loud brown mascara! The wand is really sharp so you really don't want to poke yourself with it, but the color was a lot more natural on my eyes than black mascara is!
ooh thanks I will try that one! I'm using lash paradise in brown and also really like the Kiko brown (and burgundy ones)
My everyday brown mascara is Heroine Make by Isehan. I can usually get away with their Curl Keep Mascara Base in Clear Brown by itself since it's a pretty reddish brown and waterproof.
saved this on Yes Style, thank you!
I love Kevin! I love you two together! He is perfect to be with you, I am obsessed
Kevin's make up look in this video is perfection. Goals
I love the chemistry between you guys. Awesome❤
I’m praying that Make up revolting take the opportunity to use the BH formula in their own products instead of destroying their magnificence.
That ignorance of BU's superior eyeshadow formula by Revolution has already happened. Look back at Jen Phelps, she did swatches and showed us truly 👎 performance awhile back.
Omg roller rink parties were the SHIZZZZZ 80s baby here
Saw this today and knew I immediately needed to share with you guys: Maybelline was created by a teenage boy!
I love Allie! I hope you can get her on the Pod too. I totally learned how to do makeup from her when I was like 30. She is such a good teacher.
I adore Kesha, praying resonates so deeply with me, I sing and cry every time I listen to it ❤
You guys made me tear up while you told your stories of going out in a full beat in your earlier years.
Thanks!!
You guys have got to keep up this truthful and unabashed love up make up…..i thought it was only me and mine. Love u guys 🎉❤
My Morphe Artistry palette and my Hindash palette are my two go to palettes for just about every look. I love them and I can create so many looks with just those two palettes.
I have oily skin and have found that the e.l.f oil control primer mist works really well with keeping my makeup in place and keeping my oils at bay.
Great show! I’m 58 and when I was in high school the only place to go on a Friday night was the roller rink. Good times 🛼
I'm 36 and roller rinks were totally a thing growing up!
I'm just experimenting drugstore makeup so definitely taking notes. I've always preferred mid range makeup(stilla, urban decay etc) and didn't want to bother with drugstore before. Excited to see what you two recommend 🎉
You two are so nice to listen to, so inclusive, keep up the great work!❤

Hey guys, I couldnt agree more about Elf's Camo concealer. The two colors I bought are living in my toolbox, they'll be wall spackle the next time I paint. Wet n wild photo focus is the best! (Translucent of course!) And their foundation is pretty darn good too!
*the dewy one for me, matte for oily skin.
Honestly, when I heard Ke$ha's Praying for the first time and she takes the high note - I nearly cried. It's such an underrated song!
It's not fair!😭😂 Love you two!💗😘
Love the new Kesha songs and love to hear others recognizing her and her talents. Omg roller skating ❤
I've been OBSESSED with this podcast!! Oh my goodness!! I can't wait for the next episode!!
Ppl deeefinetly sleep on Bebe!!!! I've loved her since I Can't Stop Drinking About You!
Not Johnny talking about the days of roller rink parties. Oh man that was every weekend of my childhood summers
I just woke my OH up with my cackling at the deep dive into 90s roller rink parties, and then the "coming out song" on repeat 😅😂
Definitely needed to have a pen and paper handy with this one to take notes! Thanks for putting this video out!
That was great! It felt like the kind of shop talk that us regular folk need. Thank you! 🙏🏻
I would appreciate an episode like this about higher end brands as well, because there is so much misinformation around beauty and make up. And I loved the shout out for hot and flashy. Her channel is definitely worth a look! Thank you both so much! ☺️🙏🏻
I love your honesty, great example that Elf putty blush!
Kesha does deserve more recognition!! When I was in high school all I listened too was her and gaga and that's it lol but anyway love you both!!❤❤❤❤
Yeah the colourpop super shock shadows are a 1 and done or to brighten a look! I love them!
Kevin’s makeup is flawless 😍
Furisouly taking notes and keeping a second screen open to add to cart, lol
I feel like I need to rewatch while taking notes. On a constant quest for the best but affordable makeup!
It’s also a great primer before makeup.)
4. Organic, cold pressed Castor oil to moisturize at night, especially around eyes, eyelashes, and eyebrows.
That’s it.
For me, nothing else needed. Inexpensive, simple, clean and healthy for skin.
Oh nyx and la girl has some of the best liners! Eyes and lips!!
The e.l.f. camo sponge and their duo complexion brush, blending and buffing foundation brushes!
No.7 pressed translucent oof so good!
The kokie soft gradient blushes are the absolute best! Better than high end!!!!!
Loved this! Hi Johnny and Kevin, would it be possible to include pics of products discussed or links if we want to pick up the products you love? Thank you
I ❤ the love that is shown for Allie Glines!
So happy you mentioned Jessup brushes , Real Techniques too! I have Jessup, RT, and ELF brushes!!
Allie Glines is just the best 🥰🥰 So happy you mentionned her!
Agree with you about brown mascara. The nice lady at Ulta pointed me to the Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Hydrofuge brown mascara and it's my go-to now. Waterproof too!
roller rink parties are still the best, I had my 18th birthday at a roller rink and it was awesome
I took notes to take shopping with me. Thank you both!!
This is my new favorite podcast. I get so excited when I see the episodes drop!
The wet n wild skin tint is the absolute best!!!! The primer in that collection "the impossible" primer is also good and reminds me of the huda beauty glowish blur jam!!!!
OMG.. this just made my whole day you have no idea how this video turned everything around for me 🧡
I love this podcast so so much! I always take notes on what products to use with my student budget so this episode was perfect :))
I’m just really sad to not be able to find several of the brands you mentioned just because I’m from France, but I’ll keep my precious list for when I come to the US!
Keep it up with the hard work guys, love you both 💗
This was so fun! Love you both! Hope yo see one for luxury makeup thats worth it!
New elf lash and roll mascara has a brown. So does loreal Bambi eye. I love you giving wet and wild some love. So many great things...I still have back ups of all the cushion products. The pink cushion color correcter for dark eye circles is the best!!
Ohh good to know! ❤
I’m in love with this podcast. Johnny, will you please do a review of Believe makeup from Dollar General. I have found a few things this line that are wonderful. I’d like to see what you think because it is incredibly affordable.
I was looking at those the other day!
Revlon skin lights highlighters!!!! Yaaaas!!!!! But wet n wild does blinding highlighters girl!!!!!
The overnight skating rink parties in the black lights. You was only cool if you skated backwards lol
Just in time while I’m making my Sunday Brunch💜💙
Yay….actually made it here when it was posted! I’m always late 😂
Hi Johnny and Kevin😊😊😊 Much love to you both! Poor Kevin missed out on the roller rink parties…I’m old, so I’m the 80’s were roller rink heaven!
You two are killing this podcast thing!💕
I'm new to both your channels. I love your content. I love when you have Kevin on you seem to feed off each other and I love it. Keep up the great work you are awesome and Kevin is too. ❤❤
Awesome episode! Loved the product line up in order of application. Really appreciate all the brand information ❤
Kevin you are giving jolly gnome vibes (I love gnomes) and Johnny you are giving 90’s George Michael vibes. 💪💪💪💪
Not the jump scares every time Johnny goes squirrel and audibly gasps 😂
I was born in ‘88 && everyone’s elementary party was at spinners the rollerblading//skating rink!! Then as a teen they had ‘lock ins’ and you’d stay over. I snuck out one night to go.
WOW! That sounds so fun!!!
Was just going to check in to look for your recommendation for a good drugstore eyeliner, and here you are, just 7 minutes old. 😊
Here for all of it!
Pray is hands down top 10 for me.
Please do a best drugstore skincare!!!
