This was a sad episode! It ended with the dad waking up, then House and Wilson take him to Atlantic City so he can eat this specific hoagie from a place there. That is when House (and a reluctant Wilson) plan a way for the dad to commit suicide in a way that preserves his organs as best as possible since he is doing this to save the life of his son (who was House’s patient originally and was dying at the hospital, that’s the reason House woke up the dad). House tells Wilson to leave the hotel room so that Wilson wouldn’t be in trouble for this, so Wilson leaves the room. However, Wilson being the great friend that he was, he chose to pretend to be House at the casino downstairs in order to provide House with an alibi. It works, too. The dad killed himself and the son received his heart which saved his life.

Throughout the majority of the episode, the father seems like he’s just somewhat uncaring about the situation, and then near the end you finally realize that not only did he not blame his son for the fire that killed his wife, but he’s just trying to come to terms with the fact that he wasn’t able to save his wife from the fire and now he’s about to lose his son and won’t even be able to say goodbye. The father even chooses to die in the slower painful way because it will keep the heart in a safer condition for the transplant.
