  • @robertlewis9132
    @robertlewis9132 5 лет назад +4

    Often when you have a sinking pedal from an internal master cylinder leak it will hold if you push hard on the pedal, but sink with moderate pedal pressure. I assume its because the seal under heavy pressure will expand outward against the wall. That kinda verifies it's inside the master cylinder as long as there are no external leaks to be found.

  • @BadmunkyWRX
    @BadmunkyWRX 7 лет назад +5

    OK so I have no leaks, all new calipers, new rotors, new pads, and I just replaced the master cylinder as well. We bleed the system with a power bleeder 3 times. No air is coming out at this point. And we have put 3 quarts of brake fluid threw this thing.
    I STILL have a spongy brake pedal. No change at all. And all 4 brakes are dragging enough to hold the vehicle in place in gear.
    All calipers move free. All fluid is clear and air free. No ABS light. And no Brake warning light.
    So now what do I do?

    Would you still need to bleed all 4 calipers/wheel cylinders since you cracked the lines at the master cylinder? Wouldn't that introduce air between those lines and the proportioning valve?

    • @GMoney-B
      @GMoney-B 2 года назад

      That’s what I’m thinking too I’m really not sure about this method. But then again I have no mechanic, but everywhere else they are saying to bleed the brakes from the calipers. This method seems blunt and brash. Not worth it in this method to me for life saving brakes.

    Hello, i have a Honda Civic 2007 Sports 2.0 F D
    Last 3 weeks ago I checked the brakes by pushing the brakes with full force to see if they will work in an emergency. After 1 weeks of that passing, my brake paddle started to sink. When in slow speed, the brake paddle sinks And when on a highway on 100km/h speed, then at that time it feels like hardness in the brake paddle - then the brakes feel 60%% effective. And i have checked Master- cylinder, brake line, brake calliper, and there is no leakage signs anywhere. When i turn the car ignition off, pressed the brake paddle 3 times- the brake paddle when the full hard and I couldn’t press down any more. When i put my feet on break paddle, turned the car ignition on the break paddle sinked full. And my break pads have approximately 70% life. And the break rotors are perfect I even checked by break bleeding- no air came out of the system. I also refilled break fluid. When i start my cat in the morning and the weather is a bit cold, the car breaks become 60% effective. And when i drive 10km then the car brakes become 30% effective. And then i need to press the paddle hardly then the brakes work. There is also no check light coming in the dashboard. Please advise me what is the fault in the car and what i can do. Thanks

    Hi i drive hilux sr 2004 and having brake problem. When i pump the brake several time the (!) light will turn on about sec then its off. Its not about brake liquid because its full already and i know how (!) light will turn on when brake liquid is decrease. So when i drive and hit brake my car stop but slowly. And if i pump several times until (!) light turn on and hit brake then the car wont stop and the pedals become hard. Mechanics here can't solved that problem. And yes its slowly sinking to the floor. When i pump several times the pedal got hard like the engine turn off then after long press to the pedal it sink again.

    2003 4runner limited v8. I saw brake reservoir cap leaks. Checked every where but it only leaks from the cap. Brake pedal feel. Not hard but soft. Eveytime i press pedal, i hear pumping noise whuch means motor is trying to pressurizing the system. If cap is old. Do i replace it and will build up pressure again? Or i have master cylinder problem?

    Got a video on diagnosing/replacing the ABS module? I suspect this is the issue with my 03' Ford F150. The brake pedal loses pressure and goes to the floor, then gets pressure between stop lights, rince repeat. thankfully the brakes do work....but not as they should.

    Hi scotty. I have a question about my brothers 2002 Ford Ranger Pickup truck. The brake pedal sinks "only" when turning to the right and applying the brakes coming to a stop. The truck feels like its on ice by giving out for a second. We brought the truck to ford and they couldn't find the problem. Ford installed new front rotors on the truck 1 month ago but, that didn't solve the problem. Would you have any ideas what the problem could be?

    NEED HELP! I drive a Lexus HS250H. my brakes were squeaking, so I checked the brake pads, and they were at the time to change, so I changed them, but it still squeaks, and grinds. Sometimes it does not squeak on the road, but after awhile on the road it ends up squeaking again. Brake pedal sometimes is good, but ends up sinking as well after awhile on the road. ANY ADVICE?

    Can master cylinder be at fault when handbrake isn’t strong enough?? The car is civic 05’ with discs on the rear. Brake pedal is slightly sinking. New handbrake cables, new discs, new brake pads.. adjustment Done by the book with adjusting procedure start when self adjusters are backed up, adjusting nut lossened and handbrake on 1 click... both rear calipers are also new..

    @ 0:42 ~ "There's nothin' leakin' on *this* side"
    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there's nothing on the outboard side of a caliper assembly *to* leak. (at least not on the one shown)
    And.....since not all wheels are spoked/slotted, can you cite a scenario where there would be evidence of a leak on the outside *only*.... and therefore be missed by a "wheel on" visual inspection?

    Didn't you say in a prior video to always use a new master cylinder instead of a used one? And shouldn't you at least bench bleed the master cylinder first? Plus, the master cylinder likely went bad because the old fluid ate up metal inside, if that was my car you had better bleed the calipers too. Hack job, lol.
    Oh, and tighten up those lines, "nice and tight" MMMMMPHH - whoops stripped the threads!

    I wanted to ask, on a 2002 Ram 1500, my brake pedal goes almost to the floor and once to the floor I it moves up & it wont stay at the floor. I have a fairly new brake booster & master cylinder and I have changed the brake pads and I have changed the rear disk as well. But everytime I want it to stop fairly quickly I have to pump the pedal twice. Why? And any suggestions?

    You did me wrong Scotty, you never mention anything about the push rod adjustment????? I installed a new MC and installed it like you did, then i drove on the highway and my brakes almost cooked clean off. The push rod was engaging the MC all the way, after some research I had to use a Push Rod Adjustment tool to measure the Booster rod to the MC valve. I figure you knew that and just forgot to mention that in the video...

    hello, I'm facing a no rear pressure brake and I'm using the design with a non-proportional valve. for the front, an output from the master cylinder to a T that distribute left and right, and for the rear from the Master cylinder to hydraulic E brake than to the rear T. No leak nothing right connection etc.. and master cylinder is brand new. My system is disc to disc). I need help to solve this issue
    and to have a rear strong pressure brake>. NB: front is working perfectly high pressure.

    I have this problem with a 2000 Audi A6. I believe there is a flooded rock quarry nearby where i can submerge the vehicle... you know, test for leaks and stuff you said, and forget the car ever existed in the first place. If I could ever meet the designer in private in an undisclosed location that would be just fantastic. I would be interested in going over some of his ideas with an aluminum bat or an old chainsaw.

    I believe that my master cylinder is bad. It’s not my brake lines because they’re bone dry. When I’m at a stop sign or stop light sitting there for about 15 seconds the pedal will go down randomly and the car will move a little bit. The brake light keeps coming on and the master cylinder is completely empty so I filled it back up but this time the brake light stayed on. Will replacing the master cylinder with a new one turn the brake light off along with fixing my issue? Thanks!

    I ride around in my little festiva with the brake light on and the brake peddle sinks to the floor on occasion, I just pump it once and its fine. Keeps me awake when I drive .... thinking I have ne brakes at a split moment. I guess that would be the master cylinder. I will probably get around to fixing it when I get time.

    Ok having trouble with my 98 Chevy blazer 4x4 passenger side brake is sticking. I'm going to start from the beginning. last week on September 5th my brake booster was going out ( when I applied brake pedal half way it start to have a hissing sound ) so I had to replace the brake booster I drove with the old brake booster 15 to 20 mile from work to home. I bought a new one on the way home and replaced it. after I replaced it everything felt fine but now after I drive between 5 to 8 miles with minimum braking maybe 6 times total it gets hard and causes the passenger side to freeze. I had a warranty for the caliper so I replaced it thinking that was the problem . replacing it didn't help what so ever. I also replaced the brake hoses from line to caliper a month ago. Do you think I could I have bought a faulty brake booster. I forgot to mention that when it did it to me the other night I decide to do a little test. when I drove it and got it sticking I drove it back home and got it to where it would still stick while in drive and stay in one spot. I then pulled the vacuum hose from the brake booster and it released it. if I drive it with out the hose on it does fine other then the hard brake pedal feel. but it only sticks when the vacuum is connected and drive for little bit

    I have a 2002 chrysler town and country w/abs, the pedal would go to the floor so I replaced the master cylinder and bled the brakes. It was fine for a couple of days then the brakes went to the floor again so I bled them again and got some air then solid fluid, the brakes were great for a few more days and now it's back to going to the floor again. I can't find any leaks either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Scotty you should know better then to push the break pedal all the way down to the floor when bleeding breaks , you are taking a chance on damaging the new master cylinder . We call bleeding master cylinders that way the "mash method" , I use an old pedal depressor from my old Hunter alignment rack and it work very well . When bleeding the master on the car you should only push the pedal down about an inch to an inch and a half . Do your research Scotty and you find out using the "mash method" is a big no no .
