- This week I do something very different and fish the fresh water.
Road trip to Monduran Dam, just north of Gin Gin in search of big freshwater Barramundi. To help me along, I get Nick from Fraser Coast Fishing and Camping at Maryborough to show me around the dam. Nick has dine a heap of trips to the dam and know it very well, he can even navigate it in the dark!
We did an overnighter in the boat and the next day I had Chris from The Chandlery Bait and Tackle for a quick flick as well.
It was a great trip and we got a mix of small and huge fish! MVP lure was the Lucky Craft pointer 78xd. Molix plastics also got a few fish as well. I learnt a heap and am super keen to get back up there again very soon!
Been itching to get back up to mondy, took the yaks up a few years ago and it was insane fun getting towed around fishing way up in the sticks. Pulled out a 116, 112, 104, 96 and a 82 over 2 days. Found the same with those pointers too, they just worked that much better than everything we threw.

Hi Peter, love your videos mate. have learnt so much by watching your retrieves for various species. Could you tell me the model of Shimano baitcaster you use, not the calcutta but the low profile one? looks like a metanium?

i notice most of the lures are on the outside of the fishes mouth, i do fly fishing for barra in that dam, had five strikes but no hook ups ,these trebles have only to touch flesh to get a hold , with the fly the fly gets sucked in but not every time it will catch flesh, very frustrating
@@lesdundas4869 the bites can vary lot with Barra 🤷♂️
