- After last week's taste of what is on offer at Monduran dam, I just had to go back!!
The forecast looked ok but in reality, it was not great.Strong winds form the north east, cloudy with the odd shower on the afternoon we got there. Then overnight the wind dropped and slowly started to shower frequently. Durning the morning the wind picked up from the north west and the showers moved on.
Despite the weather the fish were biting and that's the main thing!
We both picked up a couple small fish early in the afternoon we got there and then moved to an open point in very strong winds to target a big fish. It look a while but I managed on e big one on a Molix 140 shad about 3-4pm. That was sadly our last bite for the day and with the fish moving off the points and the string winds we called it early and set up in a bay out of the wind for the night.
The next morning was not so nice ass the wind had died but the rain had moved in big time. The fish seemed to like these conditions and we had a few hours of good fishing with a few landed and plenty lost as they were bitting a bit funny. These were all small fish but we were having fun and there was some bigger fish mixed in the area.
This Damien not having caught a big fish, we decided to change locations for last hour or so before we needed to head off. Fishing an area where there were less but bigger fish. Damien persisted with the Lucky Craft Pointer and finally got a big eat. Unfortunately, with handle come off his reel making for a funny but stressful fight around the trees. Luck was on our side and we got the fish in which was awesome!
End score was 8 fish landed and almost as many lost, few hours fishing in the arvo and few hours till 10:30 the next morning. Very little fishing at night as we both don't enjoy it as much and got enough in the light to be happy.
Yeah Bro!!
Love the in-depth convo about bite times 🤌🏻
We are thinking the bite time thing is BS 🤷♂️
Perfect timing 🙌
Hope that helps
Awesome content again Peter.👏👏👏
Thank you John!! 🙌

Awesome fishing Pete 🎣🎣💥
Cheers mate.
Dams are up here are going pretty good hey.
Hey mate… I was chatting to you the other week at Tackle World..
I mainly watch You Tube on my personal account. But just wanted to say, I’m stoked your doing some content at the dam. The family have our first trip booked there for the week before Xmas. The boys are at tackle world are setting me up with a new bait caster and Dobyns rod. Can’t wait to put it to test at the dam .
Thanks again for the great fishing content you put out 😊
Thanks heaps for the support mate!!
Hopefully you can pick up some ideas that will help put some fish in the boat.
Mitch is the man to talk to at the shop hey!!
This is my personal account.
Ive been taking notes lol… yes I’ve been told he is the man to speak too..
I will let you know if I get one on the deck!
@@gavin249 yeah Mitch goes good!
Hit us up before you go and I’ll let you know what’s been happening or what I’ve heard.
Cheers Gavin!
Will do and thank you 👍
Nice vid. Just wondering what the go is with the swags in the boat?
Thanks mate. We slept on the boat over night .
Awesome work mate. Are you just using sidescan to find them?
Thanks mate.
Yeah, side scan on electric motor and transom.
Awesome fish and a great video as always Peter.
What sort of gear would you recommend for a beginner’s barra rod & reel?
Cheers mate, appreciate that!
You’ll need a couple different strength rods if you are going to throw big baits like 140 Shad’s or 7” plastics. Like a 15-30lb or heavier rod. And a light 10-20lb ish rod to cast smaller 5” plastics or hard body lures like 78xd pointers.
Twitching hard body lures is easier with baitcast tackle to me but spin will work.
20-50lb braid. Nylon leader 80lb plus for hard body lures as it floats and fluorocarbon 60lb plus for plastics etc.
@@Peter_Herbst_Fishing thanks heaps mate, tight lights 🎣
