Howdy RUclips pals! Hope you enjoy the channel and visit often. If you want some one on one Skype sessions you can email me at waynebenson1969@gmail.com
Hey Wayne, I know those streets!! And thanks to you , I just scored a wonderful mando. ♡ God bless you. Looking forward to more lessons and more videos.
OMG, I found a Kentucky KM505 in pristine shape selling for $349.00 at a music store on the internet and when I went to snap it up it was gone so I checked Reverb for the millionth time for a Gibson snakehead and found an A jr in excellent condition for only $1,000 that was just listed within a day... It'll be here Wednesday.
Wayne, would be really cool if you could put a video together sometime showing the equipment you use and how you’ve evolved with pics and strings over the years!
Great video Wayne! Lots of fun....South Carolina looks like a nice place......my wife wants to move somewhere warm......I know....toatally unrelated.....hey for budget mandolins that are awesome.......Eastman 305....thats what I play everyday....my only real mando....its a beast for volume and tone....radiused fretboard....nice player....
Great video idea Wayne! Lots more folks out there playing budget mandos than the luxury ones for sure. I just helped a friend pick out a nice little The Loar 110 A style for her 9 year old son. Very decent Mando for $300
I’m really looking forward to this series. You could almost date that mandolin by the 90’s era D’Addario J-74 string set in the case! 👍🏻 Wayne I loved listening to Gault House Suite on the car ride man, one of my favorites
I think I still have a pack of old J-75’s that look like that in one of my cases. I think I remember reading in the liner notes of your first solo album that’s where you wrote that tune. Believe it or not that tune helped me start learning chord melodies.
I've got a KM-630 that I really like. They are discontinued now, but I got mine about 10 years ago and it cost me around $350 - $500 (I don't recall exactly). The online stores have them listed from $700 - $1150 if you can find one. As I said, they've been discontinued. Mine is one of the all solid wood models. I understand that there were some years when production standards were not as "high-quality" and some may have laminate backs. I'm really happy with mine.
I've converted a second hand KM-150 from righty to lefty. Replaced the Kentucky tailpiece with an Allen cast tail piece (wow, did that make a difference) but my bridge is leaning the wrong way. Looking forward to the video on how to fix that.
I would be interested in knowing how you recorded this. It was a wild ride, but was really good video. Curious to see what your impression is of that KM.
Howdy Mark! This is still a cell phone production. I record, edit, upload to RUclips and make my thumbnails on a Samsung Galaxy S10e. The driving scenes in this vid were done in "hyperlapse" mode. I haven't even played the Kentucky. Two broke strings and freezing outside so it moved quick. Ordered a new tailpiece from Amazon today.....
@@waynesworldofmandolin3616That phone does a great job. Really impressed with everything you are doing. I forget not everyone lives in Florida. It got down to 50 the other day and I was hunting the heater. Heat one day, then A/C the next.
Fun! Looking forward to the rest of this series. I found your comment on bridge positioning interesting. Mine seem to tilt forward after a time, and I reset them to vertical when I re-string. Should I really be setting them to tilt slightly back?
Yep. That backward tilt can keep things in place. When we install new strings they tend to drag the bridge forward causing the mandolin to note sharp. I have a video "Setting the Bridge for Best Intonation" that goes into more detail on this topic.

Congrats! I love those old snakehead Gibsons. How is it workin out?

Thx for that recommendation! Hope to cover that topic soon. I can already tell you I've played D'Addarrio strings for 32 years!
Man I love these videos that you’re making they are so beneficial. Keep it up
Thx Farmer John! I'm looking forward to 2021 and growing the channel....
look into Washburn also, all solid wood, cast tailpiece, sounds great, plays great.
Thx for the comment Clayton. Any other satisfied Washburn owners out there?

I've played some Eastman mandos that were great bang for your buck too. Thx for the comment and supporting WWoM....

Definitely more people with budget mandos. I've been there and hope this series can help....
So cool to the grocery store I shop at in your video. Ingles hwy 9.

Thx Tim. I knew it'd been a while since D'Addarrio packaging looked like that. I wrote that tune at IBMA, sitting in my room at The Gault House.....

Wayne dang man you drive to fast 🤣
The RUclips world wants to know, how much was it?
The fact he doesn't say what his budget or the deal was gets a thumbs down.
@@johnnyowens5276 that's a bit extreme I think... but you have a right to your opinion.
that how I drive on my way to a jam!! 😂

Cool. My plan is for video two in the series to cover installation of a new tailpiece and video three will demonstrate fitting the bridge to the top.

Wayne where do you live is SC, The roads on your journey ingles to get the mandolin looked very familiar to me, I live in Greenville SC
I live in Boiling Springs SC. That Ingles is on Hyw 9.....
Man I love this video
Great video 😎
This is going to be fun.
Yep. I have a new tailpiece ordered and hope to make the second video of the series soon.
Be careful meeting people these days you've never met. It's a dangerous world out there.
Yep. I always meet at a busy place with plenty of people around in the day time.
This is so true… Like the stories about people shooting someone just because that person backed into their driveway.
Hoped there was gonna be a car chase and gunplay. Fun vid tho.
Trying to find reviews for mid range mandolins. Holy crap. Not really any available.
Very true. Everybody has a different opinion as to what a mid range mandolin even is. What do you consider mid range Nate? 🤔
I have a kentucky km-1000
The KM 1000 is a higher end model for sure. I'm excited to finish this up and test drive it. Thx for the comment 👍
