April 2016 has been quite a good month on the West Coast Mainline. The month has bought some good variety of Loco-Hauled passenger train services!
Starting with the Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express, hauled by an iconic AL6, 86259 Les Ross, seen arriving at Milton Keynes.
A few shots of the Caledonian Sleeper at speed, hauled by class 90's.
The Northern Belle, with two Top & Tail class 57's seen arriving & departing London Euston. Then filmed being overtaken from onboard a Virgin service, then seen passing Milton Keynes at speed heading North!
Then just to top it off a football charter seen arriving ECS at Euston hauled by a class 66 and then later departing Euston with 87002 at the helm.
Lots of variety this month, lets see what the summer months of Charters and specials has to offer.
    Thanks for watching

Great to see football specials still in operation - it was travelling on those in the 80s/90s that got me interested in trains.

Seeing that race to Milton Keynes I doubt the 57's would be able to go as fast as the Pendolino... :D

Terrific shots of the Sleepers at speed!
That Football special must have been generously scheduled 30 minutes late departing (why can they never get the coaches into the platform on time?), right time by Nuneaton!

Pity there aren't any more of them . Not in the UK anyway so far as i know. Those that were not shipped on to Bulgaria 87002 is used for charter and Caledonian sleeper and another couple have been preserved . I loved the class 87 and if you are interested this link should explain the story of their demise in UK. bulgarianrailways.wordpress.com/ex-uk-class-87/

Two others have survived in the UK: 87001 and 87035. 87001 is at the NRM and 87035 is at the Crewe Heritage Centre.

The Pendolinos are alright but I love the good old trusty ACs that speed through Tamworth every once in a while.

Scotrail... Well DRS.. had 14 for peak time Fife circle services, that were painted virgin livery and had mismatched interiors, they've now been painted in scotrail, there's also a few in a yard in fife

Not in regular passenger service, the oldest carriages in regular use are the later Mark 2s (D, E, F) on the Caledonian Sleeper, Cumbrian Coast, Wherry Lines and the Fife Circle Line
