Hey Ryan, I really liked your style of pitching - it was crisp, straight to the point & strategic. This is my inspiration to get in this field as I am a digital marketer too and wish to pitch clients much better, Thanks!
interesting sales call - how much better is the pacing of this type of call compared to a cold call when the pitch is on the front end where as here it is 2/3rds the way through. Such a better more natural type of conversation.
Great call overall, thank you for sharing it. I think you spoke too quickly for most people to process comfortably. I mean he seemed to get the message and you built rapport and increased his confidence, and your statement about doing it right the first time/avoid stress and headaches is pure gold, but I never talk fast on the phone because I want the person to feel relaxed and comfortable talking to me. I want them to think of me as their doctor/consultant/coach/ and the expert who is trying to diagnose what his problems are, and people in authority don't need to talk fast because they're in control of their time. I am a high-ticket sales manager and close $8k to $30k coaching programs and masterminds in one or two calls, all on the phone. I'm thinking of doing live calls for a RUclips channel and people seem to really like them and it gives people in the same field confidence. I plan to do cold calls to businesses, warm calls to preset appointments on my calendar, will share the tactics I use to get gatekeepers on my side, and show that the most important priority by far, is that you talk to the person on the line like a human being. Try to get them to grin or chuckle while you're building rapport and make that human connection we all crave, and detest sales people who treat us otherwise.
That was inspiring on a number of levels Ryan. I can see from the comments there are many 'aspects' that others can relate to/not relate to but bigger picture, you led by example and made yourself vulnerable. Kudos! Did the SEO version get made?
Hello Ryan, It was indeed great call. I have a few questions with regards to this call. 1. Does this call was inbound lead or outbound leads. 2. What is your lead nurturing process? 3. Please make one SEO sales call. Thanks a lot men. Cheers, Amol.
1. this call was from an INBOUND lead that came through my website 2. i don't have a lead nurturing process, they submit a contact form and then we have a consult then they get a proposal, very simple 3. coming soon!
Things i noticed: You placed yourself as someone who works with big comapnies but you also work with small companies(his) and it would be a contract agreement since its just a short term project. Also you said your price is high because you do a very good job,not the cheapest but great service, so that you could position yourself lke that on their mind so they justify the hugh price 200$. mentioned long-term relationship, UX,Design, FLows, etc, to catch their attention, and the went on to sendind them a quick estimate to they know how much it would cost them incase they want the full service. That way when they compare the small feature price with the entire price it seems small, and end up going with you. Brilliant. but its better said then done. great job dude! im curently learning UX,selling just websites is cheap unless you actually sell it with UX/UI Design. sidenote: im looking for a chance to work at a web company, willing to work for free to demonstrate my skills and learn from you.
Thank you for this Ryan. Do you do much in terms of cold (but not freezing cold) outbound calling? Our sales team calls prospects who engage with our free eBooks and market reports but we'd like to make the most of these opportunities
The nature of tech sales is that there is ALOT of functionality involved. Usually prices are high and there are specificities needs being met so this makes the “pitch” have to be more tight and informative. HOWEVER, from a sales perspective, I thought you had good confidence, good pace and control of the call..control could have been better but again wasn’t bad. I liked how you justified the pricing: “we do it right the first time and save you headaches and time. More importantly than the money you save we’re saving you time and stress”.. that pushed on a pain point which was good. Also your pitch had overall, good value.. and you definitely broke down any credibility concerns with explaining who you are and why your expensive. I would have just given the price and asked for the card lol .. but I’m sure that’s not the order of operations.. but I never pitch unless I ask for the card..
I work in germany also doing agency sales and the american style to cold calls is just so wrong for the german market. Its crazy ...In germany you should be the handsome guy that is always there when they need you and even if you know you have something cool to offer, you have to let them find this opportunity by themselves and then they will be you friend and put you on the same "eyelevel" nut sure if english people understand this saying "eyelevel" ;)
Ryan Stewart where I live it’s a legal requirement to state a call is being recorded. But I know that varies according to local laws. Just asked Incase it’s not something you had considered :)
Great stuff Ryan. It would be great to hear a marketing call. Do you steer them to a certain type of marketing like SEO or FB ads? Or do you try to sell whatever they ask for. I get a lot of folks that aren’t ready for ongoing SEO, so I’ll stear them to a smaller branding package or AdWords or maybe SEO with AdWords. It would be interesting to see how you determine what marketing mix would work best for the lead. Thanks!
marketing call coming soon. i'll steer them in the direction i believe is the best fit, to the point where i've gotten into borderline arguments with leads about what is best for them. some people are dead set on SEO, but it's just not a good fit for them. i refuse to sell a contract that is going to put my team in a bad position in the future with a client who is going to be a headache. my team's happiness and work is what makes our agency go, their happiness is my top priority at all times.
I feel bad saying this as I love your work but that call wasn't very impressive, quite underwhelmed. You still rock, and I'll re-evaluate after an SEO call, which is more your wheelhouse ;-) Ps. I appreciate that from literally 30 seconds into it, you realised that it wasn't going to be a client you wanted anyway, hehe. Hope you can appreciate the honest feedback!
i do appreciate the honest feedback, i dont take anything personally at all. just curious, why underwhelmed? even though he was under our budget, i still got a request for a quote which ended up in him signing up to do some project based design work.
@@NOTRyanStewart I'm so glad, I felt really awkward leaving the comment as I've never had a negative thing to say in all the years I've followed. Underwhelmed, purely because I expected the sales call to be on par with the work you put out, which is of incredibly high quality. Perhaps my expectations were too high, I expected more intelligent sales tactics which didn't feel like sales tactics (perhaps with an SEO call you'd be better positioned which I'll completely relate too), more conversation to build general trust and less technical terms. When you dropped the note about $8000 as a ballpark, I bet my bottom dollar that this was probably 4x his budget at least. I hope that's valuable feedback, pumped to hear an SEO call and that's the reason I clicked through :-)
PS. I did "like" the video regardless as it still takes major courage to record live and share - I'm the one judging, not pushing record and it's easy to judge ;-)
