Seeing scenes from old Marvel movies is bittersweet, because they remind me of those great movies while at the same time bringing the realization that those days are gone. How a franchise fell so far in such a short time span is mind blowing.

The craziest part is that Darkseid in the books and animations is much more similar to movie thanos, cold, calculated, and ruthless, and philosophical while Thanos in the books and animations is much more “The Mad Titan” world burning maniac that Darkseid is in the DCEU 😂

You need to read more Prime Thanos. The Jim Starlin Books. Thanos Quest, Infinity Gauntlet : War, Crusade, Relativity, Revelation and Finale. Just to name a few. In Marvel's defense, no studio in the history of cinema managed to do what they did and in the time it was done. 20+ movies in 10 years all weaving into a collective narrative. It was lightning in a bottle and Marvel was there to bottle it, market it and thrive from it.
I liken it to the iPhone, which changed the world but we've yet see a single piece of tech in the last 15+ years that had the same global effect and surprise. Sure, there was the iPad that also changed computing but that's basically just an extension of the iPhone. Clearly the iPad was a landmark device but nothing like the iPhone.
My point is that Marvel did the impossible and now we're all expecting them to do that with every movie when it's just not possible. Having said that, Marvel's about to get their second wind with the worlds of the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Blade, so greatness is still within their grasp. Again, nothing, absolutely nothing will ever compare to the Infinity Stone saga but it's possible that Marvel will have its iPad moment.
I also believe we're a jaded audience and expect world-bending, life-changing content on a regular basis when nothing really works like that. But I digress. There's no question that Marvel won the comic book movie war and no matter how things turn out going forward the Infinity Stone saga has no rival.

Another interesting thing about that scene with Thanos is compare the quality of CGI to what we're getting today. That does not look like CGI, Thanos has a physicality to him that makes him look real, it's far easier to suspend belief for a CGI character of that quality than someone like She-Hulk, for example. Not only the effect, the voice acting is head and shoulders above all subsequent phases. Josh Brolin absolutely nails it, conveying a sense of command and power with every line uttered, leaving the audience in absolutely no doubt as to the threat Thanos poses. It's a stark reminder of how far Marvel has fallen.

Why would she call him Darkseid when Earth's protectors only previous interaction with him is when he went Uxas? Did Snyder not read the script? The only mention of him being Uxas is in some tweet Snyder posted, but nowhere in the movie and its credits.

in Justice league? yeeeah, just stick an axe in Darkseid, nothing really that complicated. He'll then have a 10,000 year brain fart. TBF, at 9:00, it appears the Green Lantern was momentarily off balance when he was dropped by the parademons, which allowed Darkseid to close the distance. And at 9:30, the woman who fires that arrow is literally Artemis, the Greek Goddess of hunting, so I would presume her arrows have some kind of magic/divine effect. Additionally, at 9:50, the axe is wielded by Ares, Greek God of war, who was so powerful he apparently merked the rest of the Greek gods in Wonder Woman's backstory.
In terms of his motivation, I think you're doing Darkseid a little dirty. Yes, Thanos' motivation is much more complex in his desire to save the universe from overpopulation in some convoluted plan, but Darkseid is more similar in my opinion to Loki. Darkseid wants to rule not only the universe, but all of existence (he comes from a higher dimension called the Fourth World). This is all down to the fact he is in the DC universe literally the God of Tyranny. He wants people to bow down before him because it is in his nature. If you're saying he lacks a suitable motivation then you could also say that Loki lacks a suitable motivation in the first Avengers film. That whole scene where Loki makes the Germans kneel before him is what Darkseid desires on a much smaller scale. Darkseid seeks Anti-Life because it eliminates free will, meaning he will be the ultimate power in existence. I'm not too sure whether that was explained too well in Justice League, but that's how it works in the comics, anyway.
It's a real shame that DC messed up their cinematic universe by rushing so quickly towards an Avengers-style teamup, because I think they have so many great stories to tell (WHY THE FUCK WOULD SNYDER PUT DEATH OF SUPERMAN IN THE LITERAL SECOND MOVIE!? WHY NOT BUILD UP SUPERMAN AS A MESSIANIC LIKE FIGURE OVER SEVERAL MOVIES, SO WHEN HE IS KILLED BY DOOMSDAY IT ACTUALLY CARRIES WEIGHT AND IMPACT.) Like I said, I think higher ups at Warner Bros or DC were too focused on "Let's make an Avengers-style movie to roll in the cash" without realising what Marvel had done in order to build up to that.

And worse for Sauron, being defeated by losing his fingers and Voldemort to a baby... Darkseid had to be defeated by three old gods, a lantern and the king of Atlantis.
And the fact that we even have visions of the future on how he is going to win, killing two members of the league and controlling Superman is what reaffirms how powerful and dangerous he has become.
Meanwhile Thanos real intro was in Avengers just looking at the camera and smiling. And then in Guardians saying some stereotypical villain lines on his chair, just to be taken as a fool by Ronan. If that's the case, Darkseid's intro is still the better one.

This video just reminded me why I love Infinity War (2nd only to Civil War). Truly lightning in a bottle. And a good reminder of how to make truly memorable villains. Some of my favorites have interesting and unique things about them: Sauron was absolutely terrifying not just in the intro, but throughout as he was an ever present threat that twisted the minds of our heroes; Cell, an absolutely chilling intro and a masterclass performance by Dameon Clarke; Thrawn is the embodiment of "brain winning out against brawn" and I loved him from back when I first read Heir to the Empire in Middle School (back in the early 2000s); Doflamingo being one of the most twisted people in his machinations (loved him so much, I cosplayed as him for Halloween, feather cape and all); Scarecrow (as I'm a Psych major myself) using fear to control people, which is far more terrifying (pun intended) than any amount of physical strength; and Handsome Jack (again with Dameon Clarke, I know) being equal parts charisma and sadism in one glorious package.
Great stories require great heroes and even greater villains for them to face. Those are the ones that stick with you.

You have to tell yourself 'oh wait, that's a special arrow', because in the movie is just looks like an arrow. There's no explosion of power, there's no glowy special effects or a loud thundercrack or anything. most of the audience, even if they've seen every DCEU movies, has no idea who the person who shot the arrow even was.... he just suddenly has an arrow sticking out of him and it seems to hurt very much.
Movies are visual story telling, which is why people rip exposition dumps so hard. If you want you audience to understand something, they have to see it in what's happening on screen, not be told about it later when they try and make sense of the CGI sludge on-screen. Darksied fails so hard as a villain because what we're being told about him, both during the movie and after the fact, does not mesh with what we're seeing..... which is some cgi idiot getting his ass handed to him because he did a big dumb and brought his space ship into arrow range so he could hit people with an axe. And he never does anything but sit there in the rest of the movie.
Thanos was built up, and then we you actually see him in action for the first time, he's laying the smackdown on the fucking hulk, a character who's power level we understand in that moment. And even afterwards he's just calm, collected, in full command of the situation. The audience needs no further explanation, it's a complete 'oh shit' moment. Visual story telling.

Comic Thanos vs Comic Darkseid: I actually don't know this because I've never read the comics, but my minimal understanding is that Thanos only acted when a challenge was present and meaningful enough to do so. Darkseid however never viewed anyone or anything as a threat and was right 99% of the time; only the Justice League ever really gave him pause which resulted in beatdowns on both sides, strong enough to level cities.
Character vs Character: Thanos schemes but makes mistakes letting people know he's the one manipulating them all in the background. Darkseid schemes and drags the heroes to near defeat multiple times without them ever knowing he's responsible, and you only know of his involvement right before the climax of the story. Thanos is a challenge waiting to be tackled; Darkseid is a threat that needs to be confronted immediately before everyone dies.

I do agree with some of your points, but saying that Darkseid should be relatable to be a memorable villain completely goes against the character right off the bat. Darkseid as a character is not meant to be relatable or sympethic. Do you really think Darth Sidious was relatable? Do you think Heath Ledger's Joker was relatable? Saying that a villain HAS to be relatable, or HAS to sympethic is absolutely bullshit. Sometimes a villain can just be a villain. The flashback scene shows that Darkseid's greatest downfall was his arrogance, as he completely underestimated Earth's defenses. While you're complaining about how Darkseid killing that Green Lantern was to make him look good, was also the same reason of the Russo Brothers for how they introduced Thanos in Infinity War. Thor and Hulk literally got beat up, just to make Thanos look good. The difference between Darkseid in the flashback scene to present day is night and day. Darkseid in the flashback scene was full of arrogance as he believed that Earth's defenses were not as powerful as him and his army. Darkseid in the present day is much more powerful than he was before as he now has his Omega Beams. Where as in the flashback scene, all he had was a spear. Clearly Darkseid went on a quest to obtain a new source of power to make him rival the Old Gods, and waited until he grew in power to return to Earth to wage another war on Earth and take the Anti-Life Equation. Plus you can clearly see that after Steppenwolf gets beheaded by Wonder Woman, DeSaad criticises Darkseid as he tells him, "I told you, Steppenwolf would fail". Darkseid replies to him, "Yes, yes you did". This goes to show you how Darkseid changed from being an arrogant warlord, to a humble and cunning dark lord.

You ignored major information during the analysis of this movie.
1.- Darkseid here is a young one, doesn't have the Omega force, is an inexperienced leader, and is full field by blood lust. This explains why he's not using his ships to eradicate everything on the surface of the planet, he wants to fight and destroy them by his own hands.
2.- The axe that defeated Darkseid is the axe of Hares, the God of War, helped by his father Zeus and wounded by magic arrows thrown by the Amazon Queen. It doesn't show the villain as weak, it does the opposite, that literal gods had to combine forces only to defeat a YOUNG and WEAK version of the main villain.
3.- If you know something about the astronomic position, is that space CAN'T have coordinates when we talk about celestial distances, this happened thousands of years ago, enough to make an enormous distance between the place the planet was when Darkseid found it and eventually lost it.

I'm not writing anything for Snyder, I'm paying attention to what he tells me in the movie explicit or implicit.
1.- You can even see the differences between Uxas (or a young version of Darkseid) and Darkseid in the present and in the future. He is taller, and his eyes glow in power, he is not afraid of the JLA and doesn't attack immediately by crossing the portal, even though he has a chance.
2.- The Greek Gods were presented in Wonder Woman, Hippolyta too, that includes the powers that each one has, so if you see Ares destroying Darkseid, you can't say "Oh no, he was defeated by a normal axe" cause they show you that the one who defeats him is 7 feet tall, his hands are glowing and is fighting along Zeus.

You don't really notice things do you?
    1. Darkseid decided to do the ritual on the battlefield because *the anti-life equation was located within the dirt of the battlefield*
    2. A warrior or warlord also doesn't look for safety and comfort. Safety and comfort is not a concept that makes a warrior or warlord.
    3. Why would Darkseid be protecting his crew on the battlefield? The majority of his crew are parademons and these parademons are genetically altered as they were originally slaves from planets Darkseid conquered in search of the anti-life equation. Darkseid doesn't care about the parademons because they are expendable. He has conquered 100,000 worlds, meaning he has lots of slaves turned parademons to spare.
    4. The science so advanced that looks like magic is THE MOTHERBOX themselves!!! It's not the sorcerers or the flying ships. The motherboxes were also *in the process of merging* which mean't that it couldn't be used for other offensive purposes at the time.
    5. Darkseid grabbed the guy to lift him up because the guy ran towards him to attack him. It's a battle, people attack each other. Darkseid is also proud and arrogant and so he picks up the guy as if to say, "You are nothing but dirt beneath my feet. How dare you enter my presence."
This is how Darkseid acts in the cartoons and comics, he is very proud and believes he is superior to all things.
    6. The green lantern also DIDN'T stand there to get kicked down. As he was getting up, he raised his left arm to use his ring but Darkseid quickly kicked him back down.
    7. The green lantern was also the 1st lantern ever, meaning the first lantern hadn't learned how to make shapes yet and so the power was just raw energy (Zack Snyder himself explained this).
    8. Darkseid got pierced by the arrow of Artemis. Artemis was a Greek Goddess just in case you didn't know. Zeus, Ares and Artemis were the old God's on the battlefield who fought Darkseif. If you listened to the story, you would know this.
    9. A God was defeated by an Axe, you say? That axe belonged to Ares who was the God Of War. Darkseid is a demigod whereas Ares is an actual God and so it makes perfect sense that an actual God's weapon can defeat a demigod.
    10. Darkseid lost a lot of blood from Ares axe and so he fainted and the rest of the army decided to retreat. This is something that also happens in war.
You don't notice anything do you?
It seems your observational skills went out the window when watching this movie.
You also have to consider that marvel properly fleshed out thanos while the old Warner Bros execs at the time didn't even want Darkseid in the movie. They tried to control and change the script every chance they got and so Zack didn't have full creative freedom. When ZSJL was being released, it was just VFX that was being worked on. The only additional photography was the inclusion of the joker at the end.

You should have better compared it with the post-credit scene Thanos, to be fair. Darkseid story was never fully developed. Jesus, dude. The opening scene you spend so much time talking about shows Uxas, not Darkseid. There's a lot of story that wasn't told. And because of that a fair comparison needs to rely on source material. I know I know "Why do I need to read comic books? The director should show/tell everything in the movie", well he couldn't so either this analysis requires more context (which I guess inevitably will bring you to the source material and the Uxas/Darkseid distinction, the psychological profile of the war gods of Apokolips - which is completely different to Thanos, hence explaining why their motivations are so different - and so on) or a disclaimer acknowledging that you are comparing two characters in vastly different stages of development.

So unless we were going to get another flashback in a future dceu movie that explained the darkseid/uxas stuff had Zack Snyder been allowed to continue forward, it is bad writing plain and simple. I disagree. I feel that villains can be compelling both with a backstory that lead to their actions, or just to be evil for the sake of evil. Look at Joker for example. He is an extremely loved villain and he literally does what he does just because. Darkseid is an awesome villain as well! His introduction doesn't give him any justice in these movies though. That's also what makes Death and Jack Horner awesome villains! They have no trauma, they just do because.

Darkseid was in Justice league, which had a total of two whole movies before he showed up. Now granted, it ended up being re-written, so that fans had to wait about as long for the Snyder cut as Infinity War, but it was still just building off of only two movies, and Darkseid felt just suddenly crowbarred in (Whereas Thanos was built up since 2012).

Once something has been proven to make money (obscene amounts) people who don’t care anything at all about the creation of something and instead care only about profit come along and mess it up, an example being comics in movies.
    Other situations like where people who wanna use the platform to spread their own message about social topics -Star Wars.     Not going to go into how to better write him as a character, but there's a painfully, comically easy way to re-write the fight itself to actually, I feel, preserve Darkseid's Intimidation factor;
First off have more than 1 Lantern, have it be that they are the one's leading this fight, having gotten some natives to help and temporarily given them advanced technology designed around their existing weapons because they know this is an All Hands on Deck situation. The Lanterns are so terrified of Darkseid that they are willing to throw entire Species at him as Cannon Fodder. But even with that, have Darkseid and his army be utterly trouncing them.
Until a full on Battle Fleet of Kryptonians, led by actual literal General Zod himself arrive to help. Have a scene where 3-4 Dozen Kryptonians straight up Burly Brawl with Darkseid and still lose, until the final fight is Zod himself having to go 1-v-1 with Darkseid, ALSO LOSE, until some timely and self-sacrificing interventions from the Lanterns, Amazons and Atlantians give him the opening he needs to injure Darkseid. Not kill, just injure and force to retreat.
This would also have the upside of retro-actively justifying why Clark got sent to Earth. Jor-El read about Earth as a habitable planet Kryptonians can live on, so he sent Clark there intentionally.
Probably still a shit intro but better, and not bad for like ~3-5 minutes of thinking about it.

also i believe that your undermining the original scene from the movie. all peoples of earth united to fight this baby darkseid , he defeated a green lantern in seconds. many cool shots too , like Uxas trying to catch the lantern ring. also how Uxas was defeated , he was stunned by an atlantean attack , then his weopon was heated up by Zeus. then Aries (who gets his power from war , so he is now crazy op) jumps on him cutting through his axe.
also isnt it cool that despite all these fierce attacks , powerless "darkseid" was not killed nor fatally injured, a full powered aries could barely pierce half his edge through Uxas's skin.

Thanos in comics was a conflicted nihilist. And his backstory was massively influenced by Lady Death. Thanos in comics is a much more interesting character than all the dceu characters combined. Steppenwolf was a very shallow character hiding in the shade of Darkseid who is the definition of GENERIC evil. The worst part is that DCEU villains were not fleshed out and intimidating. While most mcu villains are generic(Thanos, Loki, Zemo, Killmonger, Vulture, and Wenwu are exceptions and are incredibly well written and executed), the only good villain in DCEU is Zod. Also Ares was your typical generic evil, even worse he wasn't intimidating and interesting at all. A villain can still be a good character without having understandable motives. There are plenty of people in the real world who are evil just because they can be. So a fictional villain being evil for their own personal gain and desires isn't unrealistic in the slightest. Like Palpatine, he was a psychopath all his life and only wanted power and he's a great character. Villains don't need to be relatable to be compelling.

I dont usually comment on YT but I will say this:
The only problem with your argument is you're talking about a movie the whole point is about this villain (Thanos) and the other one is just discussing about him. If you want to be more fair, compare this Darkesid to Thanos from the movie Avengers 2012. Even if you want to talk about their wars or fights they have been through, this Darkseid was young and less experienced. He was not even called Darkseid. He was called Uxas and then gained his Name from the battles he went through. Bruh even in the DCAU movies he lost to Justice league in the second movie I believe.
Side point: Steppenwolf in ZSJL nailed it and he was not even in close to the power of Darkseid so just imagine if Darkseid was there with his experience and all his glory fighting instead.
To conclude my argument, just compare fairly. Thanos had the whole movie about him where Darkseid was supposed to be the main villain in JL2 where it should be the same as Infinity War. Darkseid would have won against JL in the second movie just like Infinity War. They even have kinda the same line where Thanos said "Fine I will do it myself" then we saw him doing what he did (Which was perfect), Darkseid also said "Prepare the Armada, we will use the old ways". And by that, we need to see what he will do in the sequel then you can compare.
Edit: About his motivation, In Infinity Saga, we did not know what is Thanos Motivations until Infinity War right? the same thing goes with Darkseid. In the og JL(2017) Steppenwolf's motivation was so stupid just because he was evil, so when ZSJL was released we knew his real motivation and it was acceptable. So don't blame a movie only talks about JL and not Darkseid mainly where Infinity War was mainly about Thanos.

In response to the comment about a villain only being someone you can invest in when they're logical as opposed to random acts of violence, I have to point out that it depends on what you mean by "invest in". A villain who cannot be reasoned with or a villain who has no line they won't cross at any moment if they themselves are crossed or failed, or someone who's mental state is teetering on the edge and they can go off the deep end at any moment can be very threatening if their actions then present a threat and/or those moments of insanity follow on from something logically that the hero did.
For example, you used a clip of the Governor from the Walking Dead shooting all of his men. In that season, he went from a seemingly benevolent leader to revealing that he was desperately holding on to what he lost when the world was overrun with Walkers. He was deluded in thinking that his zombie daughter was still alive, but he still wanted to protect his people and create the safest sanctuary and the closest thing to the civilization we once had.
However, that delusion of his daughter and what he would do to keep her "alive" informed what he was capable of and how merciless, remorseless and almost psychopathic he could be when pushed. As the season goes on, we see the "benevolent leader" persona get slowly broken down as he tries desperately to play it off and maintain his intimidation factor with enemies like Rick and our cast of characters. Couple that with how he punishes and disposes of people he kills by throwing them alive into a pit of Walkers he keeps in a field, we see him get less and less sane as his people begin to lose faith and trust in him as a leader and begin to fear him.
Then you get to the end of the Season where he and a group of soldiers he takes to kill Rick and his group are repelled almost perfectly because of his own overestimation of his strength. As he and his group flee to regroup, the loyalty of most of his soldiers (who're mostly just enlisted townspeople) is broken as they don't want to throw their lives away fighting a group just trying to defend themselves.
Then the Governor snaps completely in the clip you played. He doesn't even appear angry, he appears completely vacant and dead as he pulls the trigger on every member of his crew who appears afraid and disloyal, only sparing that one guy you see holding the machine gun backed up against that car as he is surprised, but shows no sign of disloyalty.
By the end of this Season and into the 4th Season, he is fueled by nothing but a single-minded hatred of Rick.
He manages to amass dozens of soldiers and even gets a functional tank to force Rick and his group out of the Prison Complex they're holed up in, and Rick offers to put aside everything they've fought over the last Season and allow the Governor and his new group to move into a different cell-block in the same prison, so that in Rick's words "We wouldn't even have to see each other. Not until we were ready. We can survive together". But as much as the Governor recognizes Rick's offer and has a moment of consideration at the proposal, his hatred of Rick takes over again and without even speaking loudly enough for anyone to hear it (saying it to himself) he simply says "Liar..." and chops Herschel's head off, initiating the full scale shootout between his men and Ricks', taking a very close friend from Rick in a brutal and gory fashion for no practical reason other than to cause him pain.
The Governor went off the deep end. His decisions were no longer driven by a logical goal to preserve his own life or the lives of his men or his people. He was fueled by nothing but a primal, violent hatred and bloodlust for Rick, and THAT made him the best and most dangerous villain of the series, at least when put against the complete arcs of other villains, not just individual highlight scenes and lines of dialogue
