- My first try at a resin vase. Wood used is padauk, wenge, and maple. The first pour was completely black, for the top and second pour i added a bit of 'rust' tint. Hope you enjoy the video! :). Not everything went smooth, such as having to fill all the tiny airbubbles. But overall i'm very pleased with how the idea came to being.

The first half of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.
I’ve watched a lot of woodwork and wood turning videos. I always have a smile on my face when I see people use the flat carpentry pencils, the sounds of the machinery it reminds me of my late dad’s workshop. The one thing I miss the most is the smell of wood being cut. Beautiful piece 👏👏👏
This video is a mix of both serotonin and melatonin, great for falling asleep during a depression fueled insomnia streak

So many things to like about this video. He shows classic woodworking process and design along with woodturning. Also shows some of the more tedious aspects and how to fix gaps, etc. Thanks very much for posting.

@@Lee-qp6gf Thanks so much Lee and Jud. The bookshelf is actually a design by frenchman 'Olivier Dolle'. I made this one out of solid oak, very heavy and impractical to move :). Made it a few years ago for a customer who wanted this particular treebranch bookshelf design. Lost contact at some point with this customer, also no downpayment. So i decided to keep it myself.

I love how you work ,I work the same way . It’s not about rushing and seeing how fast you can get it done . It’s about being passionate about the project your making . Taking your time making sure it’s right .the attention to detail ,and investing in the piece with emotion shows in your work .
Thomas, Thank you for making the time and effort to share your work on this piece. Wow. I appreciate the creativity / ingenuity involved with designing the construct as well as seeing the process involved. I was worried about the air bubbles (occlusions), but the mid-turning repairs seemed to address those issues. Of late, I have seen a lot of carbide-tipped tools used to turn resin objects, so I am impressed at how well the high speed steel cut through the material w/o any [documented] tearouts or snags.
Woodworking skills like this are becoming rare, so I appreciate excellent art when I see it. Nice work Thomas.

Wow! Beautiful piece! I have to say I really appreciate your use of hand tools! I came into the carpentry world right on the cusp of old-school and new school. Very early 80s. I’ve been an accomplished finish carpenter all around remodeler but found myself very bored most of the time. Until I discovered wood turning it’s mesmerizing to watch! So I just bought my first lathe, And I’m just gonna start puttering I know a fair amount about joinery so down the road I might be able to do something like you did! By the way you have some very nice machinery in that shop I’m impressed! Cheers!
