Girl. I deleted twitter and instantly felt a release I can’t really explain. Social media has fried so many people’s brains! From the nit-picking over materialistic things, to always talking down on someone else’s appearance unprovoked…it has caused people to become very insensitive all for laughs and viral moment that they aren’t even getting paid for. We’re not meant to see so many different opinions at once!

Say that again! I quit all social media (except RUclips) for that exact reason. Like it really caused me a great deal of anxiety because of the overflowing information. Everybody shares about everything and everyone thinks they have to have an opinion. Let’s not talk about the shaming, bullying or harassment. Also the overexposure of people’s life. It just baffles me that we live like this. It feels free to not have to document every single part of my life or see what people are doing. I’m fine not knowing. If I want to see someone I’ll see them in real life.

So when you decide to not post as much people think that you aren’t doing anything in life because you aren’t consistently broadcasting your success. Just toxic apps all around. RUclips can be toxic but it’s the least problematic in my opinion. I’ll stick with this as well!
I was just thinking about that thing of not repeating clothes. It's so crazy. I remember watching an influencer's unboxing video where there was a particular dress she really liked and she said she liked it so much she would wear it twice. I remembered looking at my own clothes that I've owned and worn for over five years. It's absolutely ridiculous to put a nice dress away after one or two wears
I posted multiple pictures of me wearing my favorite shoes on ig and someone has the audacity to tell me to stop wearing the same shoes over and over again ☠️☠️ as if I’m wearing shoes just for posts.

I’m so happy to see this part 2. Social media is ruining our lives and we don’t even know it yet. We are missing out on this beautiful life and experience because we are so distracted by watching other peoples lives😂. I deleted all of my social media but RUclips. It’s been a week now. My goal is to take a year break and if I’m disciplined enough I desire to never come back. There has been research done proving that social media is a large cause of anxiety,depression and loneliness. It makes so much sense because we are all addicted to our phones. Social media is ruining our lives, relationships and society. We don’t even think for ourselves anymore. If you don’t think you’re being influenced daily by other peoples opinions you are sadly mistaken. We now live in a group think society. I want to enjoy my life with the people I love and that love me without the opinions of randoms on the internet. Great video sis

I love this so much, I deactivated all my socials at the beginning of October last year because I thought I was taking a break but at the beginning of January this year I completely deleted them because of the changes I saw in my life and how peaceful and present I felt😢, I didn’t realise how much unaware I was of everything that was happening inside of me and around me as a result of the social media distraction. Being away from social media has given me time to slow down and really talk to people, hear them without any distractions and give informed advices or just responses. I can listen to my own thoughts. I am mindblown.

I used to share more in my 20s on social media but now that I'm in my early 30s, it feels cringe to share too much. As you get older you learn that privacy and discretion has some value.
The last few years I’ve been quite honest about my stance on social media: I can’t handle it. I don’t think I’m meant to see everything about everybody.…. Call it what you want. It’s tooooo much for me. I opted out some years ago - Deleted my instagram, twitter and never picked up on Snapchat or TikTok. It’s freeing.
Lucy you’re right. A lot of these influencers get these clothes for free so they don’t mind not wearing them again. But me? Imma wash, rinse & repeat 😂❤
I think a new one is, if a woman is not using 500 different skincare products then she's not really a woman. Why do we have to use so many? I'm going to stick to my simple routine that works great for my skin and be consistent with it. Ladies, you don't need to use Fenty or Paula's Choice or Cosrx even to get validation from anyone. If you can afford only The Ordinary products and they work great for you, please use it. Luxury is relative tbh, you define what "luxury products" mean to you. Affordable self-care is self-care all the same. Please do you and stop looking at what people are doing on social media.

Yes!!! Cleanser, moisturizer and sun screen for me. My skin is way too sensitive for a 10 step skin care routine. Half of those products are harmful anyway!

The problem isn’t what others are doing. It is a matter of individuals not being able to think for themselves. If we all stay in our lanes there will not be any traffic. I believe people should do what they want to do so long as they are not harming anyone. It’s their life and their choice. We need to raise people who can think for themselves and not follow the crowd.

Social media can be overwhelming at times. I notice a positive difference when I take a 2-3 month break from it
One of my fav RUclipsrs said “I protected my peace so much i don’t even know how to share my life or what’s going on anymore” n honestly I love that I relate to that. Once you start keeping a low profile it gets addicting when people don’t have their nose in your business. As I get older I realize the importance of silence and letting people assume.. without having to prove myself to anyone cause at the end of the day they don’t really matter & just wanna keep up with you for the wrong reasons
I recently have started practicing the “private life” and deactivated my social media, other than RUclips. Why am I updating people on me and my family’s life when nobody cares. I especially don’t want to feel the need to post updates on my child, nor will I continue to feature them in videos just for content…

I like RUclips because I’m not bombarded with information from people I don’t want to see (ads, suggestions). And people were sharing their negative thoughts on marriage/relationships and seeing that everyday was affecting how I viewed mine. With RUclips I can tailor what I view to what outcomes and mindsets I want to grow into.

To your first point...There are people who have social media for "snooping" but claim to be "PRIVATE" and actually judge people who post(which is wrong in my opinion) They actually think they're better than everyone
I’ve always been a private person and also an ambivert . But for some reasons , I went really low key starting last year but to my surprise my so called ex friend went about insinuating that I was depressed lol. So yes you’re right if you are person that posts or goes out once in a while and you just go off or cut down on outings and postings lol people will tag you as weird. It’s just crazy 😂

Repeating outfits right there that part. In reality I buy an outfit to style it for 3 different occasions/places, now if we repeat clothes we are poor/not stylish. Social media is such a terrible influence on ppl. Everyone looks alike these days & there’s no originality. Also, fans of creators can be VERY nosy. A creator could be dating someone without telling us who that person is but we know who it is and the fans make it their duty to demand that the creator tells who it is. Where is the respect for other people’s lives?

I love these videos - they make me think about the concept of hyper-reality and how it is not in alignment with real life. Seems like many of us are not super comfortable in this hyper-reality or are at least questioning the consequences of all the overstimulation. The doing of the most is exhausting and I'm kinda done.
I think older age will fix a lot of this worrying about what other people think and doing things that are not in your best interest to impress strangers or follow a trend. Because the older I get the less I care about what other people think or how they see me and that includes men, friends, coworkers and certainly not strangers. At 53 it’s all the unsexy, unglamorous things that make me feel good about myself… like having great relationships… investing & watching my retirement savings grow… a healthy lifestyle & not having HBP or diabetes… Over time your priorities will shift naturally.
This is great advice. But we really do need older women to teach younger women these things. Because we are just making mistake after mistake. The modern age is so strange.!

Not just that, it has increased levels of depression, coz you feel you don't live the life you want to post or regularly post. If you want to post stuff, you shouldn't do it out of a compulsory mentality but rather a genuine and relaxing mind.

It’s very true. Keeping up with people who get paid to INFLUENCE will always keep your mind wondering about new ways to flaunt like you have it all together. I’ve always been into fashion, but there’s been a bigger financial payout since I caught onto these unboxing and hauls and I have to remind myself “THEY can afford a luxury purse 👜 on a monthly basis, not me”. I will repeat an outfit,…I won’t take a pic in it, but it will be worn again!

I feel like we need to start following the “trends” and habits that actually are fulfilling to us .
For example I feel like some things are just trendy because a celebrity said it’s working for them, like Pilates 🥴 now is “5AM morning routine and pilates” , “come to my Pilates class with me” Pilates this , Pilates that EVERYWHERE .. a lot of people are doing pilates while thinking that Pilates is a boring type of workout! But they will still keep doing it until the trend dies out. You do not have to do it just because Lori Harvey said so, find a workout routine that you like and work for you!!!

I’m one of those “weird” people who doesn’t have traditional social media and the sites I do use (RUclips, Reddit), I’m typically just a lurker and there to watch/read something specific. Even when I did have Instagram, I never really posted because I didn’t care to share and really was only there to look at different shops and monitor sales, which I also don’t need (I’m a fashion girlie, always have been and went to school for it long before social media so even that wasn’t about trying to keep up with content creators etc.). But I had no idea people had such warped thinking like this, like they can’t re-wear clothes…what?! Isn’t the point to buy something you live and style it 50-million ways because it makes you feel good?! The madness of man is so fascinating to me…

Except RUclips, I don't have social media. I've never had an ig account and haven't had Twitter since I was 20, I'm 30 now. I still watch these videos and enjoy them. Not gonna lie seeing these comments has me very happy I made the conscious decision 10 years ago to not be on social media. My life feels quite peaceful without it and I still have rich relationships with my friends. I travel and do a lot of these things I assime people post on social media, I guess I just dont care to advertise it and am more concerned about enjoying the moment and the company I'm with. People do think I'm a unicorn lol but I find it interesting that anytime I tell someone I don't have it I get the impression people wish they could also be free of social media. It seems to really have a hold on a lot of our people. Would recommend to do away with it completely if you're considering it. You'll also find out who your true friends are and who will do the effort to keep in touch with you, not just like your post but actually check in with you.
I am 25 and I don't even know how to post a story, I don't look at people's stories either because I know they can see I checked them and for me that's kinda .. embarrassing. I feel like I am a stalker. People tell me I've been living under a rock, but I don't care. I get people angry with me because I didn't see their story or newest updated on FB. I don't even use FB, only messenger. I just don't care. I enjoy living my life and sometimes I post a memorable moment, but that's it. People who define friendship by how much you engage with their posts on social media could never be my friends, because they would be constantly upset with me.
Yes! I had a friend that was upset because I told her happy birthday in person but didn't post a birthday shout out on fb/insta. 🙄

The not repeating outfit thing is more like a norm within some female societies where wealth is flaunted. It was that way growing up especially when it comes to visiting someone or an event where the same guests are there.
This is gonna sound broke but, even as a full-time employee I consider a $90-120 order a BIG one, because that's how I budgeted "spoiling myself" hauls when I was a uni student. It was mainly buying items and accessories I can re-use and re-match even years down the line. Also, saving on shipping and discounts based on the (minimum) total order amount. 😂
I like to post pictures of my outfits and things that’s I’ve recently purchased. But I don’t really like to share personal information or things about myself on my social media but a lot of people try to encourage me to share personal information about myself on the internet and I totally agree, nothing is wrong with keeping somethings private or to yourself.

I’ve always hated going anywhere because I don’t want to buy new outfits for every event. I don’t want to wear anything uncomfortable i.e. shape wear/heels. Now if I absolutely must go out you damn right I’m wearing something from my closet. Cause: 1. It already fits 2. I know I look great in it 3. Dry cleaning exists! I think for me, not repeating clothes started happening to me in secondary school where someone who was supposedly my friend was going around telling people how I used to repeat clothes at church and at events and even said she used to predict my outfits at church and what she predicted is exactly what I'll wear that particular Sunday. I got to hear about it from a friend that this was what was being said about me and I guess I Justin went into this spiral of not repeating certain outfits because I didn't want to come off as broke or as that person that someone could predict my outfits.
I definitely still repeat some clothes, don't get me wrong but the ones I've worn and taken nice pictures with, I feel weird wearing a second time but not anymore. I'm not going to care anymore about what anyone thinks about repeating clothes. If it's paining them, they should buy me new clothes, I'm not gonna refuse 💁💁

4:25 yup, my husband is a very private person. After MySpace, he never really saw the use for it. For a moment, I had to check myself and my frequent use of social media when he told me he didn't have one. I just assumed everyone was on there, so I got used to asking for it when I was dating.
