JT signing will be fine as it will be much cheaper than he's currently getting, but the new Marner contract scares me. He'll want MORE than Nylander, despite not scoring as many goals as Willy does. Can the Leafs afford to pay Mitch $12M+? Seems like they're eating the cap increases already and will still be in the same boat of overpaying their top forwards, with no money left for the rest of the roster

Either way Tre is in a tough spot because if he lets him just walk, that will be viewed as terrible asset management but if he gives him his money too early and he shits the bed in the playoffs, that will look just as bad. Cap space is great but that's assuming you spend it well and the signings work out. There's a ton of risk either way. A big playoff performance is probably the only way this ends well. I really don't want a repeat of the Kessel situation and see Marner go win a few cups somewhere else. At least in that situation we recovered some assets for Phil but it still stung.
Leafs management needs to reduce the number of press that are allowed to address the players. There's no need for all those "reporters" to be in the players faces all the time. That's gotta be annoying as hell. There's some pretty dumb questions being asked sometimes

Cant stand these media wannabes and the negative influence they have with their hot takes and the Core 4 bullshit. armchair GMs with a podcast that amount to a shit ton of noise that is UNHELPFUL. Tavares's class and leadership isnt exciting but is true and what Matthews needed. because without that time under his leadership style and character, Austin was doomed to be the greatest individual hockey player in the world. Tavares, I pray will see the benefit of His leadership on a team that fans are trying to cannibolize! MORE DALLAS in the future please. How is it the Canadian teams were fine with the NHL installing a salary cap to stop the richer teams "Many of them in Canada" from having an advantage in signing players and yet many NHL teams in the U.S that enjoy the very little to no taxes status, they have the very same advantage! And because of it I think 3 out of the last 4 cup winners come from these very states! Why doesn't brendan shanahan get off his well used ass and do something about it? It seem the Canadian team are fine with losing..
