I’ve never made a hidden paperclip but it’s a required element in a swap I’m working on, so I just watched what felt like a thousand RUclips tutorials on the subject. Somehow I didn’t see a single one with foam tape and that seems like an obvious solution to me.
This will be part of my junk journal for the #cupidsarrowswap hosted by Martha @martha_makes_art and Jennifer @scrapbooksandmemories, and my partner is Sierra @couleecraftcorner
    Instructions
Cut a piece of lighter weight cardstock (I’m using 90 lb) into strips that are 1.5” wide and 8.5” long. Fold into a W shape. Put the paperclip at the mid-point of the W. Apply foam tape on either side of the paperclip and attach the cardstock flaps.
Foam tape is available from craft companies, but it’s the same as weatherstripping foam tape from the hardware store. The craft versions offer variety in width, height, and color and come in pre-cut pieces, but it’s the same stuff. If you cut this, USE NON-STICK SCISSORS or you will be sad.
I decorated the hidden paperclip with the branding page from a pack of cardstock. The cardstock itself would be a little too heavy to make the gentle fold over the top of the paperclip. Once the paper was wrapped around the paperclip, I added a decorative heart topper. The red heart on each side is bolstered with a stack of 15 half-punches to make a solid grip.
The decorative paper is current, and it’s the My Valentine collection from Carta Bella (an Echo Park imprint). The punch is a discontinued heart shape by Stampin Up.
