I was thinking the same thing with the foam, I don't have any punches so I'm going to use my Brother Scan and Cut to make the top part of the hearts as they'll all cut the exact same size 😊
Crystal your hidden paperclips are adorable 🥰 Thank you for joining in our collab #enjoyredwithus ! Awesome tip about using the weather stripping. I use the non stick scissors from Wescot . Hugs & Moochies my sweet friend 🤗🤗💋💋🐘🐘
This just amazing, I have made so many of these things and I have seen this technique before. This is awesome. Thank you so much for the tutorial. Thank you so much for joining our collab. This is fantastic, TFS and have a blessed and crafty week. Hugs from VA.
This is such a wonderful tutorial. I've never made these and I definitely want to try your idea. I wondered if you could use a die to cut the hearts and the same die to cut a piece of foam or two rather than using a punch. I don't have a heart punch anyway so I'm just thinking out loud. 😂 Thank you so much for sharing your project. ❤🤗
Being new to hidden paper clips I’ve been watching lots of tutorials, and have been trying out various methods of construction. Yours is an interesting take and I will definitely give it a go. Really like the idea of eliminating the ‘bump’! Just wonder about the thickness of the end result??? Am also not sure about the foam tape being seen on the sides but won’t know for sure until I see it in real life. Regardless, I appreciate the tutorial.
Thanks for watching! It ends up being as thick as two layers of foam tape, which is thin enough for me considering how lumpy the rest of my journal ends up... your milage may vary!
How adorable, especially this time of the year with your choice of paper you are using. I was by no means offended by the ‘crazy’ statement. I use doubled sided tape from insulated window kits for my crafts and cards. It’s certainly more cost effective same and the double sided foam from same kits is great as well. In the crafty world, we use wisdom when purchasing supplies. I know I’m little late posting my response. In my defense, your video showed up in my feed tonight!!
Thank you for watching and commenting! And of course different things work for different people, I should not have used that shorthand comment for "too much effort for me"! I tried to make a fabric bowl following 49Dragonflies tutorial with my own spin and that was a disaster that ended up in the trash... so you don't know until you try something out for yourself.

The one I used was from Arteza, and their prices are generally good. Darice makes a super-narrow foam strip (3/16") that is available at Simon Says Stamp.
The hidden paperclips are bookmarks; you can easily move them from page to page. I think they would be a little thick for a regular book, but perfect in a journal that already includes dimensional embellishments and ephemera!
Really ,just because other diyers don't use what you use their all stupid.?All of the diyers I watch are so sweet, talented as I'm sure you probably are also. But please think before you speak.
I didn't use the word stupid, but I do apologize for the brief comment I did make. I should have said that I felt the amount of effort involved did not match the result obtained.
@@papercraftcrystal yes, I figured that but still sounded rude. I personally wasn’t offended as I typically don’t make hidden paper clips but I always think of my audience and how they may feel about things I say.
@@helengrim691 I Don't think anyone should be embarrassed here, I think this should be a learning moment for everyone. Very cute!
Thank you!
Awesome, been trying to do a different method which was challenging for me. Need to make 60 for church project. What a Blessing your instructions are!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!
Very cute and good idea! If you're die cutting the hearts you could use a sheet of foam to speed up that time!
That's a good idea. I was punching and I'm not sure if punch would work on foam, but I'm going to try it!
The Fiskars punches for thick materials should work, if available.
@@priscillafriesen148 good point! I love punches so much!

Well now I know what a hidden paperclip is! TYFS! Nor did I know there was a such a thing as non stick scissors!
Non-stick scissors are the BEST! Readily available, including in the kids craft section or sometimes the dollar store.

Good tutorial and they turned out good BUT it’s rude to call people “crazy” because trey use an adhesive you’re not using.
I'm sorry, you're right - I meant it sounded like too much effort for the result.
