Hi Christine! Thank you so much for this high praise!! So glad you are enjoying my videos - and I thank you so much for watching :) You totally made my day xox
Devour your videos as a new balanced body graduate for my personal practice. They /you have helped with movement insight I can carry into the class and private setting. I enjoy your efficiency and humor. Thank you.
Silvano, First let me congratulate you on your recent Balanced Body graduation! I am so glad to hear you find my content to be helpful to you - and yes Pilates is hard sweaty work so it's nice to have fun doing it :) Keep up the good work! xox
Hi Linda, Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words...and yes I need to get back to the Wednesday workouts...I promise there will be more of them coming soon!
HI Andrea! I revisited this post after our session last week! Why is the side to side not a true side to side? Why is it slightly in front of the body? Wah! I'm such a good side rib bender! And is there something to side bend to? Something to aim towards? In the twist and reach, I like that you said "the side that must cross the body must work even harder to make it all the way over there." Super helpful! Thank you!
It is my understanding (and I am not the best example of Side Bend on the Short Box LOL) that sometimes at first to find length in the back it is helpful to be slightly tipped forward. With more proficiency I believe you will need to tip forward less. Think of it as the same reaching up and forward as in the Stomach Massage #3 when the arms reach up and forward. You are scooped in the front and the long tall back must reach up and forward. This is the same idea as for your Side Bend at first. Eventually it will become more truly to the side...Thank you for watching!! see you soon! xo
Thank you so much for this tutorial! You're very generous with your knowledge as always! Great tip to use the non slip mat, as yes, I was slipping around on the box, and also love the version of round with arms forward , aka the roll up, as this really helped me to find a better round back, powered from my centre rather than my shoulders! Also ditto without the pole in tall back. I've discovered I use my shoulders way too much!! So yay👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😊 much to learn but a great start. So practice, practice, practice for me!! #rockon #pilatesgeeksunite
Alessandra you are so welcome - I love the Short Box and it was great to do a tutorial on it...I may make another in the future where I am actually teaching someone instead of doing it myself - just for a different POV kind of video. You are right - without the pole, the fingertips on the shoulders are meant to alert you if the shoulders want to help us lift LOL. I am very happy you enjoyed this video and that you found it helpful to you! Yay! For me Side-to-Side is a lifelong endeavor ha ha... xox
Hi Monique - Thanks so much for watching and sharing your question here. Where you put the Short Box depends a little bit on who you ask. I place it in the original order between the Tendon Stretch and the Short Spine Massage. It can also be done right after the Long Box 1 series. Do you know I have a blog post with a link to print out the traditional order of the Reformer Exercises? Check it out: pilatesandrea.com/on-the-order-of-the-pilates-reformer-exercises/ Scroll down a bit and you'll see the link to the list of exercises... I hope this helps to answer your question :) xox
You are an AMAZING teacher. I love your style. You break things down. You are very specific AND you are fun!

Great! Where would the short box be placed in a reformer workout? Thank you!
