Look up all the JRPG'S that released in 2000, while this game was absolutely amazing it was already in a uphill battle for relevance when it released. Breath of Fire 4, Vagrant Stories, Persona 2, Chrono Cross, Legend of Mana, and Final Fantasy IX all released in 2000 just to name the big ones.

I think its due to people comparing things way too hard back then. Like "Oh look, a game from a different company that plays similar to a game I know. Its a rip off!"
Final Fantasy 7 is my favorite rpg game of all time and I never thought to compare that to Legend of Dragoon. Even today, I dont see It. The atmosphere, the story, and even the battle system go in their own direction. Hell, id even say L.O.D. did some things way better than most Final Fantasy Games. The story, the Dragoon Transformations, the Dragon Campaign,Winglies,The Virages used in the Dragon Campaign, The Original Dragoons which you had to fight to free their souls, I mean I could go on with this. It was such an interesting story and game overall.

It is like saying some F1 game and Need For Speed are similar "they both have some kind of cars in some kind of race so... really similar, you guys!" Any critic says that, they already told you anything they have to say is absolutely valueless because they don't know anything they're talking about. Might not even have actually played the game, that is how bad the equivalence is.

This is one of the only games that I will go back through and replay once a year. Just brings back all of the nostalgia and memories of simpler times. I will continue to hold out hope that we can ANY sort of new entry in this series, be it prequel, sequel, remake/remaster. Or if Sony won't get the job done, just sell the gd IP and let someone else take a stab at it.

I played LOD when I was a kid when it first came out and it's been my favorite game since. But after playing the ff7 remake I decided to go back and play the original ff7 for the first time and I see all the inspiration LOD took from ff7 but still made it original. I want a remake of LOD more than any game Sony please make it happen but
    1. Keep the story exactly the same
    2. Keep the OTS
    3. Keep the scenery just with updated graphics
The only thing LOD remake needs is better combat, more open world, and BETTER VOICE ACTING!

If this game would get a remake for the PS5, I wonder if they’ll improve on a few things.
    1. Let the players choose their additions during combat instead of changing each addition in the menu
    2. Show the weapons of each characters like new swords, rapiers, spears, bows, gloves, hammers and axes
    3. Show the hp of each enemy and boss during combat
    4. Add a fast travel system so players can go to certain areas like cities or dungeons
    5. Use fully voice acted moments in cutscenes
    6. Show the enemies in each location instead of a random encounter when the arrow turns red
    7. No limit in terms of items like potions and magic items
    8. New game plus
    9. Update the graphics
    10. Fix the script in terms of dialogue
    11. Keep the addition system
    12. Have more uses of each button during combat like circle, x, triangle and square when using additions
    13. Expand upon the minatos as well as the new the 102 species born from the divine tree

As a long time fan myself of LOD and FFVII I can say both did things that really broke the jrpg mold, and separated each other. LOD had stuck the the quintessential pseudo medieval era while FFVII chose a more modern steam punk, but LOD dared to mess the with TBR formula and make the game more dynamic and it's story is nothing short of a masterpiece imo.

I got this game for Christmas when I was nine years old I told my family about it all year and it was the first time I got something I really wanted and asked for. To this day it’s still my favorite RPG game at thirty three, when I learned it could be downloaded on ps4 I immediately got it and felt the same magic that I did playing it for the first time when I was a kid. I would love to see a remake of this game, keep the combat system but improve graphics and voice over and make the battle music a bit more intense and heavy. I’d even volunteer to do some of the voice overs, I’m not a professional but I’d love to get into voice acting.

Based on how classic game remakes have gone, not all fans would want a remake either, as the "remakes" are more like "reimaginings" which change fundamental things about the base game. And considering all the BS surrounding AAA games right now, whether or not the game would be any good is suspect.

Good video. Having recently played Legend of Dragoon on PS5, I can certainly say that the game is a bit flawed, but it is a pretty decent game and one that has a lot of potential. I felt that the dialog in the game can drag a little too much since there way too much exposition, I felt the FF games had less exposition and I found myself more interested in the games, not saying that LoD had a bad story of course, but without voice acting, it can get very tiresome to do so much reading. I also found strange how some areas in the game have random battles and others have visible enemies that you can skip if you want, but why design it like that? Either have random battles or don't, so there's consistency. Regardless, it was an interesting game and like many, I do feel it really needs a remake.

When talking about a petition to justify projected sales you'll need to assume that there are people that would buy the game that did NOT know about or sign the petition. All a petition should do is prompt the developer to do more research into market interest for a product like LOD.
If you look at just the downloads for the re-release digital version of the game on ps4 and ps5, it had nearly 2 million downloads. Much better than 30,000. Further, I think if we can look at the success that ff7 remake, dragons dogma 2, tales of series, ff16, elden ring and at a minimum you have to say that the medieval fantasy rpg genre is still thriving. If they can make a good legend of dragoon game in the same world, I think you'll have many happy returning fans and happy new fans that didn't even know it was a remake or sequel.

  • @angrymobsters1599

Hard to believe it didn't sell well. It got a greatest hits edition which puts it as a well sold game with a follow up release at a cheaper price hence being called a greatest hits game. Not too bad considering it also came out on the tail end of the ps1 life and ps2 was on the come up. Getting a greatest hits label wasn't that easy back then because of the stacked lineup of games available tbh. This game isn't really underrated it's just a bit forgotten. We haven't had any followups since it's release so that doesn't help.

Ive been wanting to play this and i now have the chance. I played it when i was 10 years old and fell in love with it but never finished it. I then bought it on ebay about 10 years ago thinking i was gonna play it then but i didnt have a system to play it on so i waited and that day never came. Got into a car accident and the game was in my car and was never seen again. I now am a stay at home dad and i finally am able to play it on pc. I woukd have bought if it was on steam. I wish they woukd make a remake but at this point rn with all these ff7 remakes i dont think it would sell as good. I personally would buy and pre order but i believe more ppl are into ff7 than this game. This game to me is better because of additions, game me something to think of as a skill and not just do turn base attacks, that is mostly what got me into it

I love how eveyone raves about the dragoon forms but fail to realize that they r only useful in fodder battles. All important boss battles are actually designed and orogrammed to make the boss harder to kill if u use dragoon form so it becomes a giant liability...unless u like it harder for no reason

    • @alxjones
      @alxjones Год назад

This is really overselling the anti-Dragoon mechanics, you can almost always get some use out of Dragoon form. Grand Jewel will only use Dragon Block if you stay in Dragoon for more than one turn, so transforming with

Never got into FF7. I had a demo disc with Legend of Dragoon on it and I would always play the demo. Never actually got to finish the game. But I've always loved the game over FF7 or any FF. I have been trying to play FF7 but I just rather play LoD

  • @Chrisezo
    @Chrisezo 6 месяцев назад

I didn't like LoD when I was a kid, and mostly it was because I didn't understand it, as it was in English and my primary language was different, so the language barrier made me dislike it, since I couldn't get very far into the game, but when I revisited the game as I got older and learned English, I was dumbfounded how my family always had such a gem of a game, but nobody really bothered to complete it, I guess in part another thing that had to do with it was, that my family never owned a memory card, and leaving the console on wasn't a thing we could do either, since as siblings we always fought over who could use what and stuff, and do to myself being the youngest I always drew the short end of the stick, so those were the main reasons as to why I couldn't enjoy the game, but I do agree that Legend of Dragoon should have been a PS2 launch title, as it would have given the staff more time to polish the game, and it would have also looked better since they could have done better models and such, since the PS2 had better hardware and they could have also used a dual layered DVD, in order to make the game as big as they wanted with 8GB of space, but unfortunately Sony got too greedy which is why they failed with LoD, just like how they failed to partner up with Nintendo, because they also got greedy there by basically wanting the publishing rights as they were going to produce the CDs and stuff, and that basically meant that they could have released games as they wanted, even though Nintendo was the one trying to make the next gen console, so in short Sony's fall from grace since the 90s, has just been bad decisions due to greed and mediocre administration, and even though the brand was trusted for its high quality products and such, there is only so much that a brand can survive, and I wish that back when they were selling Sony stores and stuff, that they had gone bankrupt and someone else had bought them, as I would have rather seen them gone and fondly remembered, rather than see them doing stupid stuff like the PS Portal or how they failed the Vita.

The risk gets higher the more time passes. LOD fans are like what, in their mid 30s-mid 40s now? This group age has very decent spending power but it can’t drag on any longer if they want to remake this game as some would not be into gaming anymore. Though I’m 33 now, I feel like I’ll be playing video games till my last breath😂

I rented LoD back when it came out and thought it was so painfully generic that I had no interest in renting it again, much less buying it. Compared to other RPGs coming out in year 2000 it just seemed to have very little going for it. Seeing the hardcore cult following in recent years has been pretty shocking to say the least, makes me wonder if the game just gets exponentially better after a certain point in the storyline and I didn't get the chance to see it?

    • @bnbreezy

You just need to go in with the mentality to not compare it to FF like everyone wants to.
I prefer this over FF. Brand new this game would be absolutely beautiful. The gameplay is fresh, the storytelling is amazing, and the lore ranges from dark, deep to sweet.
Making it through disc 1, if you’re on the fence, is a decent start - but disc two is exceptional.

I'm not sure if you're the person that PM'd me on reddit to speak about this game or not, if you are I'm sorry.
One of the worst things that happened recently was when Blue Point remade Demons Souls. Before they announced the project they had a poll asking which game they should remake and low and behold Legend of Dragoon was on the list. I couldn't even describe how excited I was about it. I was positive that was the game they were doing. And don't get me wrong, I've got the platinum trophy for the original Demons Souls...it's a great game. But still I am admittedly salty about them not going with LoD.
