Okay this is the vehicle. They did not make many. the only one I had ever came across was I believe it was an early 1990's back in 2001... I really fell in love with that one back then but it would have been more money to fix it than the purchase price.

Thank you for not spending the entire video rehashing all of the things that you already covered in the previous static review opportunities! I am curious what you consider a lot of road noise though, since many other reviewers have specifically mentioned how incredibly quiet the interior was on the road. Did you leave the back window open? ;)

I took delivery of my 2022 Santa Cruz around 2 weeks ago already have 600 miles and have already found 3 flaws the one that drives me the craziest the most is the running lights in the grill when gets wet water gets inside light housing not the actual headlights just the running lights that are in the grill the stock radio sucks the quality it's just not up to par sounds like an 84 model radio that will be upgraded soon as possible at local stereo shop and water does get inside the tonneau cover when closed so when you store anything you don't want to get wet inside it it will leak water along the sides I have never had a vehicle with a wet clutch it is going to take some time to get use to it does get attention everywhere we go people turn their heads and stare if not follow us into a parking lot and ask questions it is a peppy little vehicle will get up and go the 2.5 Turbo is powerful and it handles the road great overall we love the Santa Cruz also my Santa Cruz is a SEL premium

Nice vehicle. You know, there are always bugs to be worked out on first year models. The leaking tonneau cover is probably an easy fix with some thin rubber or gasket material, but those running lights with water in them, that's a bad design!

One theory about the changing payload in the Hyundai is that maybe it's because of the in bed trunk. Perhaps the lid can't hold much weight and that's why the 660 bed load capacity was even ever provided.
I kinda disagree with your comparison payload. It represents only one use case with a cabin full of 200 lbs passengers. I drive mostly alone so that would leave about 1300 lbs of payload available for the bed of the maverick and at this point who knows what for the Hyundai!
That being said, the Hyundai overall appears to be much nicer. Good to see small trucks again.

I do agree with the bed lid theory, but whats wrong with his comparison in the video? Weight is weight lol. Its called an example not demand that everyone must have at least 2 passengers in the truck at all times, and they must be exactly 200lbs. In this case he used two people because thats how many usually perform heavy duty jobs such as moving furniture or appliances. It makes me laugh that anyone would actually take something like an example so seriously.

I just took delivery of the non turbo Santa Cruz AWD. Truly a fantastic vehicle. I do not see tons of benefits with the loaded Santa Cruz to be honest, and glad I went with this model. No sunroof and no taneu cover are the biggest differences and it saved me a ton of money. I am sure third party companies will push out an after market cover that may be better. The dealer said the cost on the factory cover is 3,000 and urged me to not go with the turbo model. Good call. But to anyone on the fence, just do it. I love it!

Also if you pull out in traffic and its not clear! It automatically breaks! Not to mention.. it auto adjust night driving lights! It brightens when theres no other cars around! 1 DCT is only on the turbo model.
2 it doesn’t have an auxiliary cooler (at least from what I can find)
3 I will NEVER trust ANY DCT to tow 5000lbs. Hyundai rates the total weight GVWR of 10,600lbs with trailer. NEVER on DCT.
4 Fords Hybrid doesn’t need a cooler because there’s no grinding, sliding or engaging parts. It doesn’t shift or side. It just spins the planetary gear slower to increase speed. Keeps the transmission very cool.
5 Ford 8speed auto had a auxiliary oil cooler for the towing and fx4 packages.

      @NormandyFoye 3 года назад +3

@@devinbender8428 I don’t know if you’re trying to argue your point because you’re a brand loyalist or you own one of these anemic transmissions. Why in the world would anybody want the type of transmission that you find in a Prius or a RAV4 in a truck? I guess this is why everybody in the automotive world is jumping on this revolutionary ECVT design right? You know damn well that when those three letters CVT are mentioned everybody cringes don’t kid yourself. And nobody cares if it is a slightly different electronic design that doesn’t use pulleys, etc. You will never convince a real motorhead that it’s any better than riding a bicycle. Grandma might not know the difference as she drives away in her shiny new Prius, but most men will want a more sturdy design that matches the capability what is supposed to be a truck.

  • @miked6592

The base model has a nice fit.
But, I have a hard time with the higher end Santa Cruz.
The base model seems like a versatile jack of all (but MPG) trades.
The higher end seems like that money can easily buy a more niche specific vehicle that will be better equipped.
Comparing the Santa Cruz to the Maverick is a tough comparison. It seems like they are targeting the same pool of people, but at significantly different price points. The Santa Cruz is far more luxurious and the Maverick is far more practical.

The typical manufacturers stupidity, keep redesigning a vehicle till it is bigger than it should be. Glad Ford and Hyundai are bringing back the compact class Toyota used to dominate till the Tacoma became bloated!!! Most “mid size” trucks have no consideration for people lacking height like my wife who is 5’2”. We are looking into a truckish vehicle with her height being a big concideration..

I am a mechanic. Always remember that Hyundai is a 5 in overall quality (this is something i learnd from years of working on cars) compare to a Toyota or Honda. But the price of these junk Korean cars are right next to top brands. So pretty much Hyundai is a over price car and that is to cover any repairs before the 10/100,000 miles warranty.

  • @bjwnet397

I paid $100 reservation (a program I will not recommend bc this Hyundai
sales/marketing program is BS), drove one and realized I would have
buyer's remorse, piss poor gas mileage, no "smart" cruise control until
you are willing to pay $40k, you have a lot of other choices that offer
far better value at $40k. The dual clutch shifting is crap on the turbo
model, quiet drive, pretty design, cute bed & options. If it were
$30k with smart cruise & better gas mileage and/or hybrid or EV then
I'd buy. But with communist democrats in office and taxes per mile
driven discussed makes mileage real important.
