The worst Tom Brady playoff game was a turnover fiesta that should’ve been called after 15 minutes

  • On January 7th, 2010, Tom Brady won the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year Award.
    On January 10th, 2010, Tom Brady had the earliest playoff exit of his career.
    Touchdown Tom turned the ball over four times, threw for just 154 yards on 42 attempts, and allowed the Baltimore Ravens to walk all over him to deliver Brady’s first home playoff loss. The real shame about his performance is that it distracted from Joe Flacco’s hilariously inept numbers: 4-10 for 34 yards, no touchdowns, one interception.

    This whole 2009 season was a low point for the Patriots after their whole defense retired or was traded. 2007 was the last gasp of the original dynasty defense, was supposed to be the crown jewel for that group, before they faltered late in the SB. Great doc on the 09 Pats “Bill Belichick: A Football Life” Bill was mic’d up the whole season, that was the year of 4th&2, 59-0, MNF miracle, got rheemed at the Superdome, and famous Belichick quote to Tom “I just can’t get this team to play correctly”, the only group B.B. had ever truly given up on until the 2017 defense.

    • @ricardorincon2083
      @ricardorincon2083 5 лет назад +4

      TheLocalLt this was def the worst Pats team in the Brady Belichick area.. Lots of frustrating moments that season. The offense was bad in 2nd half of games. Crazy tho that was the last time they played Wild Card Weekend it’s been 10 years now.. 2009 season was the gap between the old and new dynasty and generation of great Pats players.. 2009 was def unforgettable season

    • @TheLocalLt
      @TheLocalLt 5 лет назад +3

      Ricardo Rincon yea plus I amended my original comment to “defense” because 09 was still part of the same era of offense for the Pats (2007-week 4 2010), they just sucked, but the defense was both completely new and a dumpster fire. Brady also had trouble establishing himself as a vocal leader after being away from the team for a year, he had also never been asked to be a team leader before. The team leaders had always been the Parcells-era defensive players that were now gone or retired. So Brady had to find his own voice as well. But yea the offense was pretty much the same on the surface as it had been, but it felt different and hollow. The big change on that side of the ball game when Randy Moss was out and Deion Branch came back. They then started emphasizing the rookie TEs Gronk and Hernandez and the 2010-12 era of offense was off and rolling

    That 2007 Giants Super Bowl? Yeah... Brady took the lead on the final drive to go up 14-10 and the defense blew it four times on one drive.
    1. They failed to stop a 4th and 1 run to win it.
    2. Asante Sammuel dropped a game winning interception.
    3. The Tyree catch where the Patriots had Eli fora sack and failed to finish on 3rdand 15 which would have set up 4th and 21.
    4. Single coverage and bad technique witha 7 yard cushin and still got beat over the top by Burress for the game winning TD.
    What did Brady do with about 32 seconds and one time out? He was sacked... yes... but he also had TWO, count them TWO passes deep which hit moss in the hands well inside FG range which were both dropped. Catch one and the Pats still probably win.
    Congrats Giants fans, but that game was won with great effort and TON of luck.
