Watching this right now in 2021.. and all I can say is that I can feel your enthusiasm on your Berlin Artist Residency by just watching this video.. I feel so inspired to go to BAI now. Will definitely be a 2021 resolution. Just wondering, where do residents live while studying there? Does BAI help you find a location?
nope you have to book! I got an airbnb before since I was there for 2 months only and it's quite hard to find housing for a short period (they will need credit scores etc)

hey abbey thanks for your video!! what kind of access do you have to other facilities? e.g. is there a print making studio, textiles, photography or is it just you and the shared studio?
Hey Elena! Not much specific studios but there's a mini library. Just me and the shared studio. Around Berlin there are organizations offering studio use for printmaking, etc. BAI usually sends out a list and recommends options when you enroll :)

Hope you don't mind me asking, what is the objective of artist residencies such as this? What are the institute's expectations from the artists? It seems really interesting.
It's a personal choice to take a residency, and for the program I am in the objective is entirely up to me. The institute expects the artists to experiment I guess, but overall 100% of the output is from you. I'll vlog about my experience soon! It also varies per institute / studio so that's something to consider as well. Lots of factors, really.
@@AbbeySy thanks for the answer! I'm pretty much self taught (and still learning) and have no formal training whatsoever, and have always wondered what it's like to be in an institute dedicated to making art. 🙂 Looking forward to more of your vlogs, and good luck with your work! 🖌️

I applied! It’s not a school / you will not get a degree or diploma
