Hi Abbey! I recently chanced upon your videos and the last segment of this video really moved me. Firstly, I have to say congratulations on your move to Berlin. You are so brave, and I am sure wonderful things are to come! We grow the most in uncomfortable seasons and I look forward to following your journey. 💞 Second, I also wanted to thank you for the reminder that we don’t have to work 100% all the time to be “100%”. As a fellow illustrator, I fell out of love with the art of it all due to social media and the pressure of being small business owners. I loved the way you articulated your thoughts and said something along the lines of “forgetting our identities as artists, and instead calling ourselves business owners.” And also the way you mentioned that it is okay if we don’t have the capacity to manage a business right now, but more importantly to get back into the headspace of creating art again. Seriously, Thank YOU! This is something I am trying to do and get back into, and I can finally say I am doing great without trying to achieve it all as a full time artist / small business owner. Although I’m not going to lie and say that some days, the thought of going back to Instagram does send me into a spiral of anxiousness 🥲 Apologies for the ramble, but seriously thank you. Your videos have been a source of comfort, and I hope that my words may comfort you during this season of change and reminds you that you’re not alone 💞 Kaya mo yan, Abbey!
Thanks so much for the lovely comment, Christine! Really appreciate it 💛 rooting for you on your own journey! It takes so much to unlearn and not feel pressured by what everyone else is doing, or the perils of social media. But I hope you remember to take your time because the life of an artist is all about longevity (think marathon) :) Take care! I guess it's important for any kind of art and creativity to take your time and to pause now and then. It's not a 9-5 job. I'm sure the move to another country will produce new impressions, feelings, thoughts and new art. Don't get stressed or panic. Your art is so great already. I always enjoy to see your work. And Berlin is a great city for artists of all kind. Enjoy the ride!
