Love this! I've been wanting to know more about what you got from this art residency. I actually researched the BAI residency program and I want to save up for it and do it. I'm not an artist, but I want to do art. Also, Berlin looks so cool. I've only been to Cologne and even that is quite an artsy place.
You should try it! You don’t need to be an artist to get in as they also have incubator programs for non-artists and I believe it’s beneficial for you as well.

You need to have those to apply. I was on a tourist visa while doing my short term residency

My question is how do you find these programs? Do you just apply from an organization.. or do you specifically search for a residency

Personally, I feel that my work is quite commercial and I'd like to explore the conceptual side which is why I feel this could be an interesting experience for me.
What were the classes like?
Welcome! Yes I agree my work too was commercial that is why it was definitely great to have explored the conceptual side of it. Moreover, there is no pressure of having to make money out of conceptual art (for me at least) so I found it to be a great avenue to experiment and be free. Regarding classes, there were ones about oil painting, experimental drawing and also stuff about curating, getting into galleries etc. Covers a lot of information. You can also have a one on one with the directors during your stay (which I had) to fully evaluate what steps you want to take next. :)
