this looks like such a cool place! would love to soon find a new Artist in Residency where i could come with my crocheting art. thanks for your introduction! 🙂🙌🏾
this was a great video, thank you! Definitely "meeting" your market is such a key element ~ so many artists never want to leave their studios or even use social media, but if you want to sell your work, knowing what the market is calling for is essential. The question is - what is the market calling for and how do you answer/research this? Lots of information out there you can find online (Larry's List is a great resource!), but would love to hear your ideas on this! Thank you again, great content!
Thank you so much for sharing. I’ve been meaning wanted to know more about artist residency. I really hope to be able to find the right residence for me. :) please upload more!
I really appreciated this vid as I am contemplating attending an artist residency in Quebec, Canada. They aren't offering anything more than I already have, ie a bed to sleep in and an area to do art in. No connections to local galleries or even an adequate studio space or showing of the work afterwards. They do want me to host workshops and I wonder who is getting the benefit of the residency in this case. Lots to consider.
Hello I’m an young artist who’s still in college I came across ur channel and I love your videos!! They are very helpful thank you! Please upload more ❤️
Very Private Gallery I’m currently a painting major student in Rhode Island School of Design, I would love to apply for a future residence, perhaps in the US. I’m also open for any kind of fine art related internship during summer if there’s any! Thank you so much for responding my comment!
Thanks for sharing about it, seems like a great opportunity. Is the residency welcoming young filmmakers who are looking for a creative environment to develop script?
Great presentation... What is the criteria for qualification into the residency, how is the application process and what are the terms and conditions to applying??
Hi Hart, typically artist residencies don't accept designers, cinematographers or photographers. I know this from my own experience graduating from art school and working as photographer. There are a few residencies that are more open to multidisciplinary artists, but more competitive because everyone could potentially apply.
I am very interested in this program. This was the discussions I've been having with another artist recently. About doing a residency, I'm from Jamaica, and is there any information you can pass on to me about how to apply for such a residency will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for all your valuable advice, i just found your channel recently. Do you usually have to be an established artist or have gone to art school to be considered at a residency? This is something I struggle with when it comes to applying for funds or entering art competitions or exhibitions..
Hi, you don’t need to be an established artist or from an art school. But you need to show that you have dedicated 4-5 years of your life doing one thing. This thing can be photography or painting. Just to demonstrate you are serious. Today not everyone is serious. There are many opportunist, like “man with a camera” phenomenon.
Haha good question! I asked but most of them don’t have a personal website. We did a survey before the pandemic: 60% of artists didn’t have a website. I think after covid it changed a bit.
@@VeryPrivateGallery wow! Yeah that def inhibits sales. I know these may sell through galleries but it still helps people find out where you are selling. But sounds like they have an opportunity to improve sales even more.
Hi Alex, tomorrow this time (in approximately 24h) I will upload an open call video explaining how to apply for an artist residency in Boston. If you are interested, stay tuned!
Hi Victor, due to many factors like covid and international relations, I am not sure if the residency is running like before. Let me get in touch with my friend and ask about it. Otherwise we are thinking about launching our own residency in a coastal city in Spain.
Unfortunately due to the pandemic it would be almost impossible to enter China with a tourist visa. I would recommend applying for residencies in Europe. It’s much simpler.
I would like to apply for the residency, please can you put me in touch with the person, I hope I can make work in a different space, with some fresh air, thanks so much
I completely agree with your statement in this video! Residencies are a heaven for artists and I agree there is missing some market knowledge resources in them. Is so exciting to see a similar channel with pretty aligned mindsets about living a creative life. Thanks so much for this video! Feel free to check out my channel!
