Had a seafoam green Classic Vibe Jag as my main guitar about a decade ago but sold it. I'd been itching for that Jag swag ever since, so I pulled the trigger and bought a butter white Vintera II with the maple fretboard and black block inlays and I've been gliding ever since. Appreciate the Jag representation, Ryan!
I've never owned a Jaguar, but I love the scale length and shape. As much as I like lots of tonal options, simplicity is better for gigging. I think the 4 way switch with parralel and series would give this a good range of tones without getting too complex. Just my inexpert opinion.
Ryan you're a beast! That intro song is one of the best I've ever heard! Sold me on the guitar from the first 2 bars and the jam just got better and better and better from there!
I had my Jag modified putting the two jag pickups joined together touching each other as two bridge pickups, they can be engaged separetly or toghether in series or in paralel. In series they produce a nice humbucker tone and it's a great addition to the palete. This second bridge pickup which is only an inch towards the neck has a great fatter sound, it could be considered a mid pickup but with the balls of a bridge pickup.
Great job! The riff at 1:35 was mind bending! Epic! All I could think is, my best life would include fender sending me guitars! I like your style! My hot rod deluxe drips a lot like that maybe I’ll have to learn that “song” today!
I could get behind it..... but just needs more chrome. They also missed a huge opportunity, the three way switch should have been a 4 way to add the pickup in series option which is great on Jags for a beefy tone.
It's nice. I was thinking about getting a Player II Strat, but hearing the Jaguar I'm changing my mind. I already have a Princeton Reverb so maybe I should get the Jag to go with it.
I think its cool - I was one of the people that really didn't like the Pau ferro (I bought loads of them running a shop for a time) so im very happy to see rosewood back - it seems to me on this intro run they have used quite dark rosewood too - hope that lasts!
I've never been a fan of the recycled design from the excellent Jazzcaster, but I do love the bright, confrontational, percussive glass sound of Jagcaster pick ups. I'd like a Meteora with these pick ups.
I haven’t paid much attention to Jags prior to this video, but man that thing has great tone. It sounds exceptionally good through your Princetons. Modding it cosmetically would be cool, but personally, I wouldn’t mess with that tone. If only it came in Shell Pink with a matching headstock and a Vintage Pearloid pickguard. Very nice!
nice Intro again, diver... love you* ... and I like this Jag2.. Some soft Hawaiian tones with reverb and whammy would be interesting..... and when will there be a video for the Strat2?
I ended up trying string joy as part of the hoop jumpers Club and I will never go back I had always preferred the daddario's but the stringjoy strings allow me to set my Les Paul and Tele lower than I ever have and they just feel great.
This thing sounds fantastic. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing but I think a lot of people will dig this guitar that aren't looking for something exactly like an old one
That's interesting that they routed it for humbuckers but didn't go ahead and route for the missing rhythm circuit. The first player series Jaguar had a small routed area up there for that single switch they had.
I like it! I kinda did the same thing to my Squier Jag that this one offers. I put a 4 way tele switch in for an out of phase option, and so I don't shut it off when strumming, haha. Took out the rhythm circuit (left the plate in for looks). Put a P90 in the bridge too. Such a fun guitar model to mess around with and play. C'mon folks, get a Jag of your own!
Pau Ferro done right is beautiful. Had some before CITIES and it was like ebony in feel. Fender just didn't spend the time on them and they were dry and rough on the Mexico stuff. So everyone remembers Pau Ferro as rough, but orange streaks and dry. Which isn't true. Plus the benefit was that it wasn't an endangered/overharvested species of tree.
As a lefty, I would've bought one of these the second they were announced As well as one of the mustangs And then I would've saved up to buy one of the mustang basses. And I am not alone. I am part of quite a few Reddit threads where there are thousands and thousands of fresh posts all talking about this, no love for the lefties. They don't even have a left-handed bass. At all.
I’m interested in the Mustang. Love that the Player II series keeps the short scales in the lineup. Wish we got daphne blue instead of aquatone blue but 🤷🏼♀️
I'm not sure how I feel about the relocated tailpiece, but other than that I like what I see. One of my favorite players has what I assume is a partscaster (partsguar?) with a similar setup and I like the idea of simplifying the circuitry and getting rid of a lot of extra wire that for me never gets used.
I really like the blackguard with white body. Don’t think I’ve seen a Jag with that combo before. But honestly it looks like something is missing even if I wouldn’t use the rhythm circuit. I like the switch better this way for sure.
If it was mine I’d do the telecaster 5 way switch mod, the extra 2 positions being both pickups being wired in parallel (or series if they’re wired parallel stock)and the other with some kind of capacitor to replicate the strangle circuit, or maybe both pickups out of phase, that way it still looks stock.
See, I was never a fan of the switching, and am not a trem user at all, but have gotten along really well with jaguar necks and bodies if not even utilized to their full potential. So, while I would prefer both a hardtail and a string through, making this basically just a Tele sans the trem, the jaguar is the most intriguing to me in the series in terms of having Alnico 5 and 2 single coils, but ultimately I’m not sure if it’s the most attractive buy in the series or if any of them are really necessary. Rolled fingerboard edge will certainly be appreciated but don’t justify the price at all.
Never owned a jag, but I think the standard switching appointments would put me off. I'd be more likely to go for a simple one like this. Maybe the strangle switch could be added on the upper bout as a nod to visual nostalgia, without compromising the playing simplicity that has obviously been a design goal here.
Bought a Player II Tele on 12/20 for $750 Aaaaaand it’s in British Racing Green!!! Gotta say, the player II necks are glorious. I figured the Vintera II might be worth it - blown away by the PIIs… they feel like Americans used to.
Love the sound but I’m really disappointed that there is not a rhythm circuit or strangle switch. All I’ve wanted from fender is a reasonably priced vintage spec jag with a rosewood fretboard. If it was routed for the upper circuit, I could see picking one up to mod but I don’t want to have to cut a brand new guitar.
@60 Cycle Hum... Could you fit two Jaguar pickups (with claws) next to each other in those routes? Could be interesting if you wired them in humbucker style fashion or whatever. Similar to the original Dipinto Galaxie 4s? Also... if you go mint guard but keep the single could Jag pickups, I'd probably change from the aged/parchment color they are to something else. Might look funky against the mint. As it is I kinda don't even like how they are yellow to the body's pure white.
Dear Ryan I was expected your review!.... this Jaguar sounds REALLY GREAT.... the only thing I would love to have included is a humbucker in the bridge...My duo sonic 2022 has one....and its one of the best humbuckers I have played.... this jaguar is missing big part part of the original electronic, but personally I consider two priorities, to have a great sound and great playabilty.... and this Jaguar looks like accomplished both....thanks and best regards from Bolivia...... one question...in the midle position do the pickups had Hum cancelling?

I gotta love the old ones with rhythm and strangle. Jaguars coolness isnt about being sleek its about cruising in an old classic with chrome.
