  • Tucker from MACkiteboarding reviews the KT Ginxu 2 Pro Carbon wing foil board, particularly the 60L model he’s been using. Describing it as a significant improvement over its predecessor, the Ginxu V1, Tucker highlights its design by Keith Teboul, known for innovative and high-quality boards. This model boasts a surfy outline, narrow and long dimensions, and a lighter weight for better balance and ease of use. It features the Ginxu step bottom, which has been refined from the V1, providing better volume distribution, lighter weight, and higher performance.
The board’s dimensions-5'3" x 22 1/4"-and shape contribute to its performance, making it feel like a smaller board while maintaining adequate volume. This design improves intuitive response and high performance, allowing riders to push their limits. The low entry-rocker ensures efficiency and smooth transitions from water to foiling. Its double concave bottom, leading into a flat tail, offers an excellent mounting spot for the foil and clean water release, enhancing speed and ease of lift-off.
Tucker emphasizes the Ginxu 2’s practical features, such as the new fine corduroy pad for better grip and tactile feedback. The pad includes visual and tactile indicators for foot placement, and the board supports both strap and foot hook setups, though these accessories are not included. The board’s balanced design makes knee starts easier compared to its predecessor. The V-strap setup and single strap in the back cater to various riding styles, enhancing versatility.
He appreciates the board’s construction, noting its durability and lightness, made possible by the full carbon sandwich build. Despite extensive use and rough handling, the board has shown no signs of damage. Tucker regards the Ginxu 2 Pro Carbon as a high-performance, versatile board suitable for both surf and freestyle riding. It pairs well with a larger downwind board for light winds, making it a strong one-board quiver option for many riders.

Hi Tucker, What size board would you recommend? Im 90kgs and have been using a Ginxu Dragonfly 105L as my light wind board (it's great) and have North Seek 98L board as my higher wind board. The Seek has a flat shaped bottom and tends to slick to the water quite a bit so Im looking at the Ginxu 2 Pro carbon. Im not going into surf much but can gybe confidently and now just practising/learning my tacks. Interestingly the North Seek is 5'1" but when I stood it up next to the 5' 82L Version 1 Ginxu pro carbon there was a 4" difference in length. I wonder if the board companies use different measuring techniques? Cheers Rob

What's the difference between Ginxu 2 Pro Carbon to Drifter V4? Thinking about ordering the 80L Drifter V4.

The Drifter V4 shape is less aggressive and doesn't have the Ginxu release bottom step. I find I prefer the Ginxu personally but the Drifter 4 is an easier board to ride for progressing riders. -Tucker

    Great review !
What's the performance in light winds compared with a traditional KT board ie, the KT Wing Drifter (62L, 4'11'' x 24'') ?
Can you foil in 1 knt less wind ? maybe 2kt less? ....or even in 3knt less wind ?

Comparing apples to apples volume wise, I'd say the Ginxu 60L gets up in 2-3kn less for me. The extra length is a big factor as well as the flatter tail release and ginxu step bottom. -Tucker

Looks great! But why couldn't they install the auto vent plug? Aren't these standard nowadays?

It's still about 50/50 sadly. Auto Vents aren't perfect and can cause issues as well. I suppose if you are doing it manually you know it's working properly. We find autovents start to be more problematic after 2 years of use or so but it's simple enough to install a new autovent into the threaded plug. -Tucker
