Excellent review. Have you used it wingfoiling? Seems like most of the comments were geared towards downwinders and paddle up foiling.

Thanks mate. Yes, the Horizon works really well for winging, it's such a versatile board but also very performance based for DWing too. It's by far my most used board. I have just had a excellent session on it with a Parawing!

Hello, It is staring to click and doing now 2 minutes runs on open ocean in the canaries. Have the Armstrong 8.1 x 20.3/4 128l and the apf 1350, I am 85Kg. In a few months looking for a faster board. How does the apf1350 pairs with the horizon board? And which foil do you like best with that board?

I have not used the APF with the horizon. I’ve only used the north DW1400, DW1100 and DW 750. These are so amazing, such glide and control.
I have no doubt the Armstrong gear would work well. A good stepping stone from the APF is the HA1180 or HA1080.

I was waiting for these North DW gear reviews 😊😊 thanks for releasing these.
Q1: if I'm 75kg experienced wingfoiler wanting to learn DW sup foi, do I choose the 115L or larger of this board.
Q2: you mentioned DW1000, 900, 750 in the previous comments. What's your thoughts on the DW1400, say for upwind wing-deflate DW on landlocked lakes?
Thanks and happy to see these incoming North reviews!
Btw did i see correct that the board comes with rail protector or did you add yourself?
    Tks! 🙏🙏🙏

Thanks for the kinds worlds mate. Appreciate it. Ok so, if you want to make it easy for yourself I’d go for the 125l board. It’s possible on the smaller on but it will be harder. That being said, the 115l will be much better as an all round wing and sup foil board.
As for the DW foils. I’m still waiting for my 1400 and 900 to arrive so I can’t comment just yet. My best guess from the performance of the 1100 is that the 1400 will be epic for learning.
The rail tape is separate. North do a tape that is really good. I’d recommend this even if you don’t get a north board. Best tape I’ve used. So easy to put on.
      Hope that helps.

@@hydrofoilacademy great thanks for the swift answers! Ive got my dw1400 arriving in a couple of days 😁. I currently have an AK Nomad 115L but afraid at 23" wide its not ideal. But its good for learning to balance haha and j stroking. Long way ahead! Good to know about the board sizes! 🙏

Board does look great, and I have now watched a few reviews.
My only concern is it sounds like you are doing a promotional add, are you connected to North or have an agenda, pay for equipment?
    Thanks for review.

I just really like the board. I've tried heaps of DW boards and this one seems to tick all my boxes. My friend, Chris sells tham at Hydrofoil Academy, but also sells lots of other brands. Remember, this is just my opinion, but the new North DW gear is really good. I'm sure other brands will come out with the latest and greatest soon, but right now, I'm loving North.

The 7”10 is EUR 1799 on the North Website.

The foil track box is too short and is positioned way back. I just got a board from a different manufacture and with my Armstrong mast placed all the way forward I still feel I am not standing in the right spot 🙁

That’s not what I felt at all. I’ve used it with North, Armstrong and code foils. All three I’m stood in the same position when foiling in the middle of the board.

What is the distance from tail to centre of tracks on the 7’10”.
Running Axis advanced plus fuse and it likes to be a front of boxs, wondering if it will be accommodated. Thanks.

@@hydrofoilacademy could you please suggest quiver. Currently we have off season and marginal winds. My main setup is KT Dragonfly 95l / Ha1250 / s238. I tried ma850v2 but was unhappy with stability at high speed. I tried and sell sf1080 good low end but not working with wind swells. I’m happy with HA1250 and I’m looking for a quiver for light wind + downwind and something for speed and stability. First options was to get DW900 and add ha750 or to replace ha1250 with DW 1100 and add ha850. Thank you 🙏

The DW1100 is my go to in light winds. It’s got a great low end and keeps up with ocean swells. The DW900 is also comfortable when it’s slightly winder. The 750 is amazing to wing but I’ve not tried it DW paddle yet. Hope that helps.

Addicted to your reviews @hydrofoilacademy ! Any chance you can compare the North Horizon for the Armstrong DW?
I feel the North is closer to the KT dragonfly than the Armstrong.
I keep hearing that the North is the one to beat for ease of use compared to the other two. Also saw some people riding the board with straps but I don’t see inserts on the one you have on your back

    • @hydrofoilacademy
      @hydrofoilacademy  2 месяца назад +1

You are absolutely right, the North is very similar to the KT dragonfly but it feels more stable. The Armie standard board is not in the same league. The Armie performance board is very focused on DW given the dimensions. The North is better in waves and shorter steeper chop. Hope that helps mate. Thanks for the kind words, it’s much appreciated!
