Yankees make too many mistakes in World Series loss to Dodgers | Dan Patrick Show | NBC Sports
/ nbcsports
Mookie hustling to 1st base after a weak grounder to Rizzo in the fateful 5th inning is ALL the evidence you need to show the difference between the Dodgers and Yankees in the fundamentals.
I can't believe the Red Sox let him get away.
@@x10dude It is also serves as a reminder to not give up on any play. Mookie had enough foresight to quickly analyze what was going on. You can’t coach that. That was all grit and determination
Yankees looked bush league in the 5th. Embarrassingly bad play.
Fritzy trying to keep his headphones on 😂
What's with the goofball outfit? Lost a bet?
😂😂😂😂
@@helenjourde9033yes
@@helenjourde9033 It's Halloween.
Vin Scully is sorely missed
He was definitely one of the best ever, if not the best. I'm a native Houstonian and Astros fan, but I've watched enough Dodgers games over the years that I miss him, too. Sending happy congratulations to the LA Dodgers!
Judge will be remembered for this WS epic fail
Remembered fondly by some of us ;)
Aaron Judge, the WS MVP runner-up 😎
Better team won the better team doesn’t make crucial errors, The better team never quits, The better te capitalize on the inferior opponent mistakes, Dave took the risk and didn’t chase the W in Game 4, Rested his high leverage arms and out managed Boone! WS champs 👌
YANKEES CURSES HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. BLAME THAT FAN FOR INTERFERING
I love Judge. But no matter how ya shape it, his drop started it. Routine fly ball. Don’t make that error and there is no Volpe error. No Volpe error means no Cole/Rizzo error. It started with the Captain. Never seen anything like it before. Routine!
He did the same in 2022 playoffs while Cole was pitching lol
Nah, they had plenty of chances after that. Especially with Cole not covering first base, completely unacceptable
As for me it was the most entertaining World Series of my life😂❤
Actually the killer stab was the Rizzi/Cole mis-play and the bulk of the blame is on Cole.
Cole could have been out of the inning unscathed if he just covered 1st base. All that drama would have been erased if he just covers.
What happened with the Yankees catastrophic disaster is called the "Snowball Effect" one mistake causes further mistakes. All it takes is one error to subconsciously penetrate the minds of the other players. Mini shocks of disbelief causes lack of mental acuity and focus leading to sub par performance.
It’s chaos theory on display.
@@every1readthis perfect reason why Aaron Boone should have made a mound visit to slow things down, calm down the team, and get out of the inning, a friggin little league manager knows that, Boone just sat there scratching his head and wondering if all his stuff would fit in one or two boxes...
@@BilliamOfYorksignal staff to release a cat onto the field to pause play
What's surprising is that those things usually happen to the Dodgers when they're playing the Yankees. It was a Bizarro World Series.
Thank you professor.
If you take a look at Mookie’s at bat in the 1st inning he grounded out to Rizzo almost in the exact same way (except that Rizzo beat Mookie to the bag). In the 5th it was almost an exact replica, except for the spin on the ball that held Rizzo in his place. Cole reacted the same way in both at bats
Mookie as much a hero as anyone. Hustle wins.
The Capobianco curse has started for the Yankees.
Curse of Fat Joe
Nothing's going to change with Cashman and Boone at the helm
and that’s good thing for non Yankees fans
As an Orioles fan, one can only hope they don’t change…
That's what I'm praying for. 🤣
Im gonna laugh when their replacements cant even get into the playoffs, lol.. It'll be 1982-1995 all over again (for those who dont know.. yankees were not good in this stretch).. muahahahhahahaha
Fritzy had more composure then the Yankees game 5 5th inning 😂😅
Yankees, one of the biggest WS chokes of all time.
I saw the score 5/0 Yanks and thought, well this is going to a game 6. Find out later the Dodgers had won. Little did I think they had won in that fashion. Had to be one of the Worse innings in a Playoff I have even seen with all those errors. Some folks thought it would be a Subway series this year. Well they didn't even get anything remotely close.
The Yankees didn't want to travel to LA only to lose there
Shohei is pitching next year 💙
do not think so, bad shoulder, they will try for Corbin and get Glasnow back
@@jimerrigo7142
The injured shoulder is not his dominant side.
He still can pitch.
He doesn’t need to at this point, Dodgers already have what they need. Most of our injured pitchers will be back next season
@@jshudo44 Problem is that he wants to pitch. He's literally given up millions before in his career in order to be a two-way player.
He'll 100% pitch next year barring a major setback during the off-season.
Watching him try to keep his headphones on was more exciting than 3 of the World Series games
1981 and Fernando was my first real WS; I was 12 and new a little bit about the 77 and 78 WS; but 81 was magic. The comebacks in all 3 series; 4 straight against the Bronx Bombers after going 0-2. Now 2024; just amazing. People will say the Yankees "lost" the series But it was a genuine Dodger Victory. Exciting and Inspiring. Every bit worth the wait.
As a Dodger fan glad the Padres series wasn't 7 games
And I hope Machado never gets to another playoff.
I'm gonna be watching that entire 5th inning every day for months. It was way too much fun to be legal.
Judge
Volpe
Cole
3 error in 1 inning what a year for this team
Please do the costumes again next year 😂
Even without the mistakes the Dodgers were that much better!
Huge Dodger fan here. I have to say Judge will be fine and this will be forgotten in the long run as he will continue to make stats. The entire Yankees team made errors and his one just one of them.
The struggle his having with the headphones
Got into my nerves
Remember the quicksand talk in The Replacements? You have one thing go wrong, then another, then another. Quicksand.
The METS' lineup is better suited for SOTO with LINDOR, VIENTOS, NIMMO, ALVAREZ and ALONSO, if he gets resigned by the METS.
Great numbers!
Kiki, baserunning, took off aggressively toward 2nd, Judge distracted thinking double him up drops the ball. Going to 3rd he took Volpe's throwing lane away by rounding towards 3rd.
Ice Cube wins. Fat Joe cursed the Yankees
Surely you jest, but some people are allergic to accountability. The Yankees screwed themselves.
Icecube is a pranksta studio gangsta
The Yankees made it to the WS in spite of their manager, not because of him. In April they were on pace for 110 wins, only to barely win their division in the stretch. Sloppy play and luck of the draw in the ALDS & ALCS, and their in the fall classic. But again, they did not show up to play as a team. Soto & Stanton showed up, and everyone else was meh or an automatic out.
If preparation and mental toughness are not the responsibility of the manager, I don't know what is. I do know it's why Soto will be wearing a Met's uniform next year.
Did "the ghosts" migrate to Yankee Stadium? That was their Buckner moment. Strange that both of the men who hit those groundballs were named Mookie 🤔
Not really a Yankees follower, but why is Aaron Judge in center field rather than 1st base? The drop was one thing, but the ball over his head showed that he is not a center fielder.
I'm amazed more people arent talking about how mookie was potentially going to beat it anyways
Agree Dan not the biggest Dave Roberts fan but he did do a good job
I’m a big Dodgers fan I’m so happy they won last night.
I couldn’t wait for the Dodgers to wipe that stupid smirk off Volpe’s face . 😂
Buckner says thank you
Best team won by capitalizing on the oppo error while Yankees weren’t able to do the same, go back and watch game 4. Dan and the crew still in dazed their pick lost
People named Mookie are aggressive base runners
Oh yes, Dan, the Yankee fans are going to remember Judge’s error, and the entire 5th inning forever, it was a freaking nightmare- and we will contrast Reggie Jackson’s post season record ( or Derek Jeter) with A Judge’s too.
This has to be the worst debacle in world series history.
@@KrishnaSingh-ow1ieovershadows Bill Buckner’s error by a country mile
@@jimosborne2 The Sox had a chance to win it the next day, for instance
Congratulations to the Dodgers and their fans!
I think Betts would've beaten Cole even if Cole was running the whole time.. You could see Betts take it up a gear once he saw Rizzo AND Cole both stop.. pretty sure he beats Cole to the bag or makes it VERY close
Rizzo thinks Mookie will give up on the play 😂😂😂😂. HaHaHa. Like Seinfeld says “Boone…No Soup for YOU”
The media doesn't want to mention the Yankees were on the verge of winning game 1 until the GOAT hit the triple in the 8th inning under pressure to tie the losing game for the Dodger. If Yankees took game 1, things can look totally different. Yanks could be up 3-2, if they won game 1 and Cole didn't get lazy.
Judge is NOT a centerfielder. Verdugo should have been moved before the deadline. Cashman provided no depth. Rizzo was a black hole. The endless mistakes are a reflection on Boone. The bottom of the order is weak. If Judge doesn't hit then forgetaboutit. Without Soto, they are lucky to make the playoffs.
Dodgers played like a champiobship team. Yankees most certainly did not.
Aaron Judge dropping that ball means nothing if Cole covers first base. Inning over.
Dodgers fundamentally sound, they do the little things and that is what wins chips.
Dodger fan here. I really hope we don’t pick up Soto. Reminds me of Puig. Flashy but wild. Not worth the coin imo
Scott Boras told Soto to say that!
Dodgers experience in playoffs (losses) seemed to pay off and kept them focused to WIN !! , IMO...
Anyone knows where Michael Kay is?
The Curse Of Kimberly Jones
While I wanted the Dogers to win, I wanted them to win it vs the Yankee's losing it. You want to beat a team at their best, not at their worst.
Da Dodgers - Fab Five Freddie Freeman
Kershaw already said a week ago that he will be back next season.
Juan Soto to the Sacramento A's 😂
I remember A Rod took Texas Rangers money when they had no shot of winning anything.
Guaranteed Yankees come back with a weaker lineup next season too. You love to see it
Just having Judge on the team makes the team weak.
HERE is the somber reality for the Yankees. One they lost the first game in the most devastating fashion WALK OFF GRANDSLAM THEN go on tho lose the world series by leading 5-0 and gave up the game with multi blunders. And this is not bad. the DODGERS did not have any of their top 4-5 starting pitchers olaying the series and as an added bonus JUAN SOTO might just be a DODGERS or a Met.
Should have been Vinny on the mic.
The Yankee pitcher was great great until the 5th inning. Some would say, the Yankee should have taken him out early rather than later. But, who knew?
Dodgers don't need him. They just proved that
Hard to believe Cole would have beaten Mookie to base, anyway. Just like Mookie would have probably beaten Buckner to the base.
“I’m sure there are no asterisks on this one…”
Great series for Dodgers fans. Yankees fans not so much 😂😂😂😂
Should’ve took Cole out after he gave up 3 runs. Ends up giving up 5 runs in the same Inning, I blame that on Boone. Then letting your pitcher load the bases in the 8th when he clearly didn’t have it. Yankees just need better bullpen and maybe two more guys to finish fill out the end of the lineup.
Their bullpen wasn't great. I thought they yanked cole too early 🤷
Mistakes = choaking
Dodger fan here. Yankee's shoul get rid of Stanton and get a few players like Edmand . They would be dangerous. Yankee fans are 1 st class compared to the Padres
The shark guy! Lol😂
Mr. October meet Lord October...
Don’t get me wrong I understand the age and his ability to hit but I really don’t understand how Soto could get 600+ in free agency great hitter but that’s the only thing he’s great at average fielder AT BEST and below average baserunner he’s a glorified DH
Dan facts wrong as usual. Red Sox were not winning vs the Mets in game 6 .Score was tied when ball went through Buckner's leg
"This is what you work on in spring training"... No, Dan, this is what you work on in LITTLE LEAGUE... Any pitcher at any level of baseball is taught to run to first with any ball hit to the right side... I don't fell sorry for Cole because he was just as bad fundamentally as any other Yankee in that game...
Had the METS been an AL team, they would have done a better job against the DODGERS, HANDS DOEN!!
$600m for a guy who only hits? Gtfo.
Ohtani is getting $350m to pitch and $350m to hit. If Soto is getting a giant 15 year deal then maybe he passes $500m. But stop with the $600m number. He's not Ohtani.
Wouldn't the collapse have started with losing the first three games? Game. 5 par for the course
Biggest collapse/failure embarrassing moment of all time
Sasaki and Soto will be wearing blue next season
It comes down to the manager. He is at fault and should be fired, if they have terriblebase running, if they have terrible habits in the infield, if the outfielders can’t catch a routinefly ball, that’s because they’re not going hard during practice and he’s not getting them prepped, in order to be a good base runner you gotta are be practicing sprints, practicing hitting the bases and cutting to the left, the fact that these guys looked like little league players making mistakes. That’s all on the manager, which is why he needs to be fired.
Thanks to the 2 NY goons who attacked M. Betts. You poked the bear and you got served on a silver patter. Sweet Revenge. Dodgers show they can't be stop. Awesome come back in one of best, if not the best world series ever.
Go ahead and have your "fun" with Numerology
Soto just isn't worth the money he may want. I'll pass.
It made this one of the most exciting innings in baseball ever.
Big Soto fan, not a classy move Juan.
Both parties are to blame pitcher and the first baseman simple basic baseball
Freddie Freeman is the national pride of Cambodia.

🏆Go Dodgers!

They choked! Just like the Knicks did against the Pacers.
Fritzy, SMH such a walking train wreck of a human.
Dodgers radio guy isn’t exactly Vin Scully is he?
No one is.
Soto is worth 300 million max. He is not fast enough nor have the skills that Mookie has.
Numerous Yankee position players and bullpen pitchers will be gone over the winter, no question! Yankee free agents will be let go!
Love my Dodgers but I can't stand Stephen Nelson. Jeezus the guy is annoying.
Give the Dodgers their props Dan.
